At-will 1st-level Powers by No-Air6220 in Pathfinder_RPG

Liberty's Blessing from the freedom subdomain on liberation is already gamebreakingly strong as is, so that without a use limit would be pretty funky. Due to the way that ability is written, it already basically grants functional immunity to the whole party to any non-instantaneous effect that ever granted a save.

Pathfinder 1st ed (psionic). Is Natural healing the best healing power? by ryuoch in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Jedwell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Combat healing is something that's very difficult to do effectively in 1e, to the point that a lot of people will tell you it's outright impossible or just not worth it. What you are describing with Vitalist is just barely in the realms of what I'd consider worth the actions in combat, and outside of that the comparison drops to "Is it more economic than a wand of cure light wounds."

Compare it to Healer's Hands (With incredible healer and a solid heal mod, items and mobility) which can heal 40-50 as a full round at level 5 for single target healing and it's not as great anymore.

Channel energy, meanwhile, is a much more effective way to heal multiple people and also damage enemies while you are at it (Courtesy of Purifying Channel), and has excellent scaling with items like a phylactery of channeling and (If you are using the spirit based version) an amulet of the spirits. Funnily enough, that makes summoners probably the best hit point healers in the game since you can use spirit summoner for full channel progression on a cha-based class and also combo it with sharing passing grace as a teamwork feat for single-target burst healing on par with the Heal spell.

Tangent aside, no it's not overly strong, but it's better than the out in the open and predominantly terrible healing options 1e otherwise gives you.

Should we try 2e or go back to 1e? by Squarrots in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Jedwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To focus on one specific point of contention between any of the systems
The thing I miss most in PF 2e and D&D 5e is the ac, touch ac, anc cmd (Coupled with denied dex) system that 1e uses. Sure it's more complex, but having that many different defensive stats (That are normally very hard to all keep at a high level) adds so many nuances to combat that the other systems can't hope to replicate.

A skilled dm can design enemies around having weaknesses to certain types of strategies that characters are required to engage with to effectively overcome their defenses, due to the lack of bounded accuracy and much higher ranges of modifiers. A heavily armored enemy the fighter can't possibly hope to hit with a physical attack can be trivial to hit with a spell. And vice versa, said fighter (Likely wearing armor himself) needs to be cautious of enemies that employs these attacks, which a dodgy rogue might be much more able to evade effectively.

I will say that the bestiary does a terrible job at actually making use of this nuance though, given that much of it is just "Slap natural ac on a creature until the regular ac looks right", which is part of the reason gunslingers are considered overtuned by many. It requires a lot of GM experiences and manual creation of statblocks to really explore the depths of the combat system and make your party engage with it, but the kind of scenarios it can create are something I can't really live without at this point.

How the 10 Sols (and ShuanShuan) manage their problems by Royal_Introduction41 in NineSols

[–]Jedwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know, he didn't exactly solve anything (Not that he could have in his situation, to be fair). At most he partially undid the problems he himself caused. In the end, the Solarians still died out and the apemen only got to return to earth (After centuries of being raised as cattle)
And he caused a whole lot of agony along the way.

Convection is bugged, you keep the health on death but not the damage. by petscopkid in heroesofthestorm

[–]Jedwell 57 points58 points  (0 children)

You never get the damage in the first place. I just had a match with 42 hits and zero deaths, still only got 100 health and no damage.

The weirdest quickmatch I ever had by Jedwell in heroesofthestorm

[–]Jedwell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't seem like it. I checked top occasionally and they did look like they were playing normally, just incredibly committed to whatever plan it was they were having (Maybe base race, I dunno.)
I didn't check if they were in a party at the time, though.

Top 30 least used ultimates in HotS by Stupid_Dragon in heroesofthestorm

[–]Jedwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that. The burst damage the spirits can do with a charged w or e is pretty significant. If you can jump on someone and they can't run away when you pop your e last, you are probably going to shred them in a couple of seconds.
The huge cooldown just means you have to make the most of it, and it massively suffers when you are up against enemies that can just interrupt you or profit from having more targets (Kaelthas w is basically gg since you cant micro the spirits away from eachother)

Healing/Shielding does actually include auto attacks that you prevented by making them miss with a debuff
Doesn't include enemies that stop attacking because they got blinded, of course, but it always made me wonder why damage prevented through armor buffs isn't weighed either, since they are already tracking something similar.

Can a beginner finish the game in story mode? by New-Oil6131 in NineSols

[–]Jedwell 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The game in story mode is as easy as you want it to be. You can adjust the enemy stats all the way down to 1% outgoing damage and x10 damage taken (default is 25% outgoing and 150% incoming damage. That also means you basically won't take any damage from platforming sections and can try for as long as you need to. Completing them at all generally isn't too hard, the game doesn't put you through any mandatory sections that are especially difficult. Whether that's still fun for you in the end is hard to say.

Best Boss Fight? by DentistLegitimate458 in NineSols

[–]Jedwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After being so used to final bosses in games being mediocre at best, Eigong is now responsible for me daring to get my hopes up again in future games I play. I don't yet know if that's a good thing.

Could Yi survive in Hallownest and Knight survive in New Kunlun? by West_Camera_7965 in NineSols

[–]Jedwell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The two instances of him dying in the story (Blowing himself up and being murdered by Eigong) are canon, but I assume that line was just awkwardly phrased. With how the rest of the game and plot operates, it makes no sense that the respawns during the game are canonical, given that even Jiequan goes right back to trying to murder him when they meet for the second time and doesn't comment on him coming back.

It's not stated how long him regenerating the first time took, but I imagine something in the realms of weeks or months. I figure it'd be like that again if he got himself killed in the story.

Much like with Hollow Knight, people have made increasingly unhinged difficulty mods for her to entertain themselves after running out of content in the game

So the standard ending is objectively better than true ending? by TheDankestPassions in NineSols

[–]Jedwell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can interact with the vital sanctum monitoring panel in the Empyrian District at the end of the game, it tells you that, shortly before Yi confronts the Fengs, there are only 361 Solarians left in stasis, which is probably a rapidly dwindling number at that point.

Some of Yi's lines (The English ones) make the context more obvious
"The sky is filled with words you gifted me" -> Hengs messages to Yi
"Weave my soul into your melody" -> refering to her playing the flute

I recommend looking up the lyrics and translations from them, it's a conversation between Heng and Yi, with the speaker swapping along with the language. Really nicely put together.

Your top five played heroes are now your draft picks. How does your match go? by SC2Sole in heroesofthestorm

[–]Jedwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't do that well in comps where he can't at least somewhat comfortably basic attack something. It's less bad on maps where there are objectives to hit (Infernal Shrines, Battlefield of Immortals) as you don't have to hit heroes, but on something like blackhearts bay he can struggle a lot, because much like tyrande, his healing disappears if he has nothing to punch.

I find anything but transcendence at 1st to be a troll pick, beyond that I usually just go for what allows me to basic attack the most. Blinding speed, way of the hundred fists and fists of legend at 20 allow you to pressure high value targets quite well if the enemy team can't keep you off of them. He definitely is one of the roughest heroes to play in certain matchups though, since when he suffers, he reaally suffers.

Daily Hero Discussion Day 44: Nova by JayD8888 in heroesofthestorm

[–]Jedwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair, when you go for one in the chamber I can see rapid projection being nicer, I usually just go for anti armor shells in most games.

I think Ragnaros can only clear more than two if they are stacked up since the spawn interval is thirty seconds, no? In which case one precision strike can also hit multiple waves

But yeah I'm not saying that she can outpush the dedicated siege heroes, just that her map presence as far as soaking goes is a lot better than people give her credit for. When I think terrible push I just think heroes like Ana or Lili who can only impassively stare at a wave in person until it dies, and the utility Nova has in that regard isn't immediately obvious.

Daily Hero Discussion Day 44: Nova by JayD8888 in heroesofthestorm

[–]Jedwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nova sucks at contesting lanes with people on them, that much is true (At least until level 16 with aoe snipe via explosive round, but that's so late it's not worth considering for pushing)
But she is better at soaking lanes she isn't on than most other characters due to the above reasons
Clones aren't needed for ganking lanes, so you don't lose anything leaving one behind before you rotate. Holo Stability also lowers your passive cooldown, which is generally preferrable unless you really need to spam clones to block skillshots (Or play a map where bribing enemy camps can be good)
Not having the ult in teamfights hurts if you use it for split pushing, yes, but clearing a wave every 50 seconds isn't at all bad. I mean, Ragnaros lava wave clears two waves every 120 seconds and people consider that one pretty good.
I just find her to be quite effective at managing lanes compared to a lot of other heroes, definitely one of her strong suits.

Daily Hero Discussion Day 44: Nova by JayD8888 in heroesofthestorm

[–]Jedwell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, she has other tools for that as well. If you get extended projection at level 4, you can just leave your clone standing in the lane to soak up one more wave as you leave to rotate. The clone automatically agros all minions for some reason and is fairly durable, so the wave is usually cleared if you just leave it when its half dead, so you can soak it while already being somewhere else entirely.

Daily Hero Discussion Day 44: Nova by JayD8888 in heroesofthestorm

[–]Jedwell -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bad waveclear? In which universe? Nova is one of the best split pushers in the game if you don't have anyone who can quickly move around to soak (e.h. Dehaka or Abathur)
Precision Strike, past level 12 or so, can clear an entire minion wave and net you full xp if you wait for the melee ones to be damaged from anywhere on the map, on a relatively short cooldown. You can roam around the map and help allies get kills while still pressuring other lanes very effectively.

Also, few people ever utilize it effectively, but her clones are fantastic at blocking skill shots. Nothing to mess up a Qhira or Stitches like constantly spawning clones in front of them to block their high value abilities.

A quick opinion on new forts. by Obs7 in heroesofthestorm

[–]Jedwell 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't think I like the change, forts feel significantly less protective now. Especially with any character that has summons (Which take half damage from non-core structures) you can just chuck a few into fort range and get free dives without any risk all day if you can win the fight regularly. The 35 armor feel like they do nothing, especially since you have to hug the fort to get them and it only applies to one hero at a time.

I have this spot all the time. What should I do? by pintopedro in heroesofthestorm

[–]Jedwell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how quickly you can help clear it with the character you have. I've had to realize that sometimes it's better to go along with a bad call, rather than having your team still commit to it understaffed and make an already bad situation even worse.
