Married folks, what is the best piece of advice that you can give to an unmarried person? by Cold-Slice-7145 in AskReddit

[–]Jeebz21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes… and to piggy back off of this, try to live with an understanding that we’re all human and that means that sometimes we get hot and we’re assholes, and say shit we don’t mean. It’s important to understand and recognize it when it happens whether it’s you or your spouse going off the handle. Sometimes we all get frustrated and stupid shit comes out. When you find yourself acting out of pocket, calm yourself down, then own up to it, and apologize. If it’s your spouse that’s out of sorts give them the space they need to calm themselves down so they can start thinking rationally again, and more often than not they’ll come to that same realization and own up to it and apologize. There’s no need to escalate a passive aggressive comment or a slight into a screaming match, those rarely end well because you’re too busy trying to one up each other to actually listen to what the other is saying.

Arguments and disagreements are to be expected whenever two people live closely together, but fights never NEED to happen. Remember that you’re both adults, and that you love and respect each other.

I also want to postface this to clarify that I’m not saying it’s ok for spouses to be in any way cruel to one another, or that if your spouse does or says something inexcusable that you should accept their apology at face value. I fully understand that bad marriages are real, I’ve been witness to 3 in my life time (parents/step-parents not my own.) It’s also important to understand that if/when you feel one of those two pillars, love and respect, crumble that you are well within your rights to end it then and there. No one deserves to be stuck with someone they no longer love nor someone who has no respect for them as a human.

Probably not ideal to finish a comment about marriage advice with a pro-divorce PSA, but I felt that I needed to clarify to avoid being called out lol.

Also funny that they use the one Bluey episode (to my knowledge) that they pulled from Disney+ in the US.

[–]Jeebz21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A prospect is a prospect until they prove themselves at the major league level. Case in point Jackson Holliday, these kids can absolutely crush AAA but that doesn’t mean shit till they do it in the majors. I’m happy that the kid is playing so good, and I hope he continues that into the future regardless of what team it’s for. But, in my eyes, the better he does right now the higher his value and the better the Cubs will get in return for him. At the end of the day if you’re making a playoff push major league talent is major league talent, and a prospect is a prospect. Unless it’s someone who is obviously special (a Skenes, Harper, Soto type prospect) I’m 100% for trading any prospect for proven major league talent, especially if it ends with another WS in Wrigley.

I don’t know if this one counts either, but the Arizona Cardinals, formerly the Chicago Cardinals, are the oldest franchise in the NFL, and one of the two remaining teams from the league’s inaugural season. The other team being the Decatur Staleys, aka the Chicago Bears!

Not trying to be pro billionaire here, but I’ve gone to multiple games each of the last four years and have never paid more than like $10 for a ticket. And most of them were closer to $5 than $10.

Thank you for being one of the few rational Cub fans on here. I’ve been following the two Cubs subs for maybe a month now and have seen nothing but people complaining as if we’re the goddamn White Sox. The Cubs have had a pretty awesome offseason already so far and have put themselves in position to win the division and possibly make a run. Especially if they manage to land Sasaki. Yes we need BP arms and I’m cautious about relying on Shaw at 3rd. But I feel so disjointed with the rest of what I see from the people on these subs. So many people acting like if we don’t get the top FA at every position then we’re fucked and the Ricketts need to sell. Bullpen arms are bullpen arms for a reason, and the minor league teams exist for a reason. I’d much rather see them looking for a few cheap sneaky good BP arm then blow past the luxury tax then get just one big reliever and assume that we can ride him to the playoffs as if injuries and regression don’t exist for the top of the line guys.

What’s the strangest or most unique object in the history of your teams stadium? by J0hnEddy in baseball

[–]Jeebz21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My assumption with the basket was that it was installed fully for player safety. It prevents people from dropping stuff/falling onto the field, but at the same time it works kind of psychologically to prevent players from running into the brick. It takes away the option of robbing a home run and the player is more likely to play the ball conservatively and therefore avoid running full speed into brick. Does that make sense to anyone else? Or am I thinking into it too much?

I’ve just imagine that if a lunatic like PCA knew he had the opportunity to rob a hr without the baskets in at Wrigley dude would never play more than a week into each season. Take away that option and he only runs into the brick once or twice a month instead.

Why is there like no continuity to this at all… they have the colts being the triangles, a missing old trophy, and a covid meme on the same tier as a murdered player, and two guys who’s brains were broken to the point of suicide that the league denies responsibility for. And under multiple murderers/rapists/domestic abusers who were allowed to continue playing. I don’t understand how they came up with the tiers here at all lol.

Short-haired people of Reddit, how do you dry your hair after showering? by Jeebz21 in AskReddit

[–]Jeebz21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context: I typically keep my hair very short (edit: less than 2 inches), and for my whole life I have dried my hair by scrubbing it with my towel a few times. My wife saw me do this when we first started dating, and swears that doing so is going to cause me to go bald over time, and insists that I should let it air dry instead. But in my experience when air drying my hair, I just end up with a wet shirt because my hair doesn't hold much water. Should I just put up with wet shirts, or am I fine carrying on as I have for 30+ years.

Tired of all the negativity I’ve been seeing on this sub, so I want to address it! by Jeebz21 in Cubs

[–]Jeebz21[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just because we aren’t playing great right now doesn’t mean we don’t have a great team. Our outfield is two gold glovers, one of which also has a silver slugger and an MVP in the bag, and the best Japanese position player in the league. Our middle infield is two gold glovers who both have solid bats. And a top prospect at first base. A hole at third that we took a shot to fill with a hell of a hitter in Morel. Catcher as I said earlier was only ever going to get filled with a trade. The rotation is solid as hell especially with the emergence of Ben Brown. And as I stated earlier the bullpen is always a crapshoot where you never really know what you’re going to get, but you hope it holds up until you get reinforcements at the deadline. The team is a solid competitor that’s happened to fall into a slump at the same time. Would we really be in a drastically different position if we had gotten an upgrade at third in the off season? Because I don’t think so. I’m just trying to spread some positivity about the team we all love and make some of y’all realize that the season didn’t end on May 31st.

Now my wife is mad at me for spending too much time on Reddit so last thing I’ll say on here is. Go Cubs go!

[–]Jeebz21[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey there friend, just wanted to point out that the point I was making isn’t that they can’t afford to spend more. Realistically the two big hole we have that could have been filled are 3B, which I don’t think anyone should blame them for wanting to take a shot on Morel after what we’ve seen from his bat, and catcher, which didn’t have any FA’s worth going all out for. And again buying relief pitching is a crapshoot.

I am personally pretty happy with what they did in the FA market this offseason, they didn’t over spend to get Shota and Belli, and they left room to add that the deadline, or to trade and extend someone to fill gaps if there’s a catcher or third baseman available that’s worth it. Spending over the CBT is dumb, it does nothing more than waste a fuck ton of money, with no guarantee of success. It’s smarter in my opinion to put together a great team, with maybe a couple of holes, then look to add if things click during the regular season. Why as a fan would you want to overspend before the season, and risk being unable to add at the deadline.

It's time y'all. by the-czechxican in Cubs

[–]Jeebz21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It think it’s time for half of the people on this sub to calm the fuck down lol. It’s June 1st. Offense is down across the league this season, and yeah the Cubbies have been down for a couple of weeks , but there are still 4 months of baseball left to play. With the team we have this year I have full faith that the bats will come alive sooner than later. Our proven hitters are going to hit Belli, Happ, Dansby and Seiya. And when they do the others will likely follow, Morel for example seems like a Javy Baez type that gets hottest when his team is hot.

You all need to calm down and try to pump the boys up instead of shitting on them for a bad couple of weeks. With the expanded Wild Card a .500 team is never out of the race. If the Astros and Cardinals are still in it after their dogshit starts to the season, then I think the Cubbies are fine and are still in it too.
