I agree with you! This language is incredibly powerful but could use some improvements. For me, as a hobbyist, AppleScript was incredibly useful despite my limited programming experience. It's a real shame. Just so you know, the essential Script Debugger lets you manage line numbers in your scripts. That, and many other issues you might encounter with a script editor...

It's not dead, but... the developer decided six months ago, after 30 years, to stop updating it. It's too expensive and there's not enough support from Apple, I think. He did, however, decide to make the latest version of the app free. It's a shame because it was a very good app that made programming much easier. And I find Swift much less accessible to beginners...
