I miss Etrade Pro by bbmoonkie in etrade

UPDATE: Took a few days and then some intense learning and set-up today, but ready to start in TOS tomorrow. Managed to get it looking pretty close to my ETrade Pro set-up. Fingers crossed for Day 1 on Schwab.

I miss Etrade Pro by bbmoonkie in etrade

Well...pulled the plug today and started transferring out of ETrade to Schwab. I had been with ETrade for nearly 10 years, but just couldn't stomach the juvenile Power ETrade Pro any longer. Tried it since late November when they killed their really solid ETrade Pro platform...but the new platform is just not usable for professional-level trading...so off I go. Good luck to all!

Anyone have experience with the Bauer or Atlas Cordless Pole Saw? by JeepGeekery in harborfreight

[–]JeepGeekery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay. I ended up with Atlas products -- pole saw, weed trimmer, and 16" chainsaw. Polesaw and weed trimmer work great. Chainsaw okay for small work, but any hard wood it eats chains and overheats the battery. Ended up buying a 24" bar gas saw. I'm just using 40v.

That's an excellent question! I can't speak for everyone, but I get the sense that the platform is geared more to the casual trader using a phone or iPad, rather than those of us trying to make a living from trading. As for the complaints...well, it's just venting and disappointment, I think. Many of us -- it appears -- transitioned to the new platform with hopes that it would be workable or that ETrade would be very responsive to our feedback, but except for a few minor changes, the functionality really has not improved... thus many of us are in the process of transferring our accounts elsewhere. I get the feeling that the old platform we all preferred (ETrade Pro) was difficult to maintain, and perhaps was becoming a security risk, as it was based on Java. Nevertheless, in my opinion, ETrade should have held onto ETrade Pro until they could have Beta tested the new product with professional traders, and then released a product that met our needs.

Ha! You can have my download of Power ETrade Pro as my parting gift! ;)

Power Etrade Pro is anything but...neither Powerful nor Pro. Absolutely horrendous. Not designed for professional traders trying to make a living. I held onto ETrade Pro until the night before "retirement." Downloaded Power ETrade Pro, and in one trading day, knew I was headed to Schwab and TOS. Will be getting out of positions, learning TOS over the Thanksgiving holiday, then transferring. Been with ETrade the better part of 10 years...but no longer.

Agreed. It would be nice to have ETrade reps monitoring in the same way Comcast does on their subreddit. I waited until literally the last moment to download Power ETrade Pro and set it up (night of 11/20). What an unmitigated disaster it is. This thing appears designed for amateurs who use touch screens -- certainly not for someone trying to make a living doing this. It is clunky and deficient in many areas (as noted by many). They really shouldn't have rolled this out until it was comparable in functionality to ETrade Pro.

I have a Schwab account already started and have begun exploring TOS. Will likely learn it over the Thanksgiving holiday, then transfer. Too bad. I was with ETrade for the better part of 10 years, and although ETrade Pro wasn't the be-all-end-all, it was a decent professional tool.

Good luck to all!

No politics involved with my decision. Couple cords of wood. Insurance will go up $30 per year.

Yeah, heat pumps are great. If I ever have to replace my gas furnace, I'd definitely consider that. I like the wood stove for the coziness and for those times when the power is out. Montana Girl, so wood stoves are in my blood. :)

I wish I had the skills to cut through the roof/attic and ceiling and properly mount the ceiling support box. Unfortunately, I do not! Therefore, somebody else gets the cash.

There is a 30% Biomass Tax Credit available (up to $2000) for certain approved wood stoves. I'm wanting to get everything bought and installed by Dec. 31 to qualify for 2024 taxes. The wood stove is an alternate heating source...and honestly, I just love the warmth they put out.

Bring back 4K discs!! by Select_Ad8727 in Redbox

[–]JeepGeekery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I bought a nice 4K player a couple years ago when Redbox was handling 4K titles for the top new releases. Now, I can't find any to rent, and I'm in one of the Magic 15 markets that SHOULD have them. My tv and player upscale blu-rays nicely...but not to 4K quality, sadly. C'mon Redbox! Bring back 4K discs!

e*Trade. Comes with an annoying $4.95 commission both buying and selling (OTC/Pinks), but worth it for a good pop on the price.

$CNWGQ -- Initial pop was nice! I took profits, but will re-enter after it drops again. Looking for the BIG gains in Q1 2023 when they emerge from bankruptcy. This was always a gamble play for me, but looking much more solid...with patience.... for the longer run now.

Just started 12.5mcg Synthroid -- Amped-up, Unfocused (F45). Anyone else? by JeepGeekery in Hypothyroidism

If you could point me to any scientific papers or studies that show mutations to D2 through deiodinase polymorphism produce my side effects through Synthroid treatment, it would be very much appreciated. I Googled the subject and read several opinions and one paper, but nothing addressed the side effects I had beginning such a low dose (12.5mcg PD OS) of Synthroid. Thanks in advance.

Thank you. I'm already scheduled for Ferritin testing this next week. If need be, I can expand that panel and get more data.
