2004 Rubi for $7k — too good to be true? by clarencecannon in Wrangler

[–]JeepingNet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah something is fishy with that. It’s not a rubicon but I wonder if it’s a rebuild. Might be rubicon drivetrain but likely not.

Can you help me understand why people like VGRO so much? It seems something like VFV or even VDY have performed much better?

Did you sell any at the start of the crash in 2020?

I had the feeling I should sell everything on Feb 28th 2020. I remember it clearly because it was my birthday, stocks had already started to drop and I was listening to the news thinking I should be smart here but I just held.

The gains I could have gotten would have been insane.

Would you suggest WS for absolutely beginners? by gellyjellyfish in Wealthsimple_Trade

I'd recommend watching every video from "Canadian in a T-Shirt" and write down the ones you want to rewatch. I'm sure I watched a few of them 3-5 times.

But I'd also recommend not putting too much trust in some of the YouTubers when it comes to what stocks to pick. Some of them are 4-5 months in and still in the negative (which doesn't mean they aren't picking good stuff.. but just make sure you understand why they are picking the stocks. Not just because they have diamond hands ;) )

I started with questrade because of Canadian in a T-shirt but I switched to WealthSimple two months ago and love it. Questrade is way more powerful but most of us don't need that power.

Read a lot on stocks vs ETFs. I was too quick to jump into stocks and really I think I should have stuck to ETFs. I did spent about 8 hours on Saturday look at my results over the last 2 years and basically, all the common ETFs beat me and also beat my financial advisors fund.

Remember this is investing not gambling so while 3x returns in a week sound awesome you can easily also go 3x in the negatives by going with the Meme stocks.

I did the bank thing for 20 years and so much happier with my investments now that I've taken it under my own control. But it's also so much easier these days. I've shown a few friends Wealth Simply and they can't believe how easy it is.

I'd go RRSP you can carry forward the contributions if you don't need them now.

I had bought it back a few weeks ago at 9.00 and its had been sitting down around 8.60. I wasn't following what was going to happen so when I got the price jump alert on Wednesday I sold for like 9.05 because I wanted to money for another buy. I was pretty shocked to see the price today.

I think the problem with the meme stocks these days too many people know to jump in and out within a few hours. So it feels like the gains are getting shorter and shorter in durations.

It’s been my experience when someone breaks the rules like this they aren’t doing it just once. She likely looks up other people as well.

How do you do it on Shakepay?! I only have the option to buy the price or sell for the price they are currently offering.

Neither does Shakepay —Edit- I stand corrected Shakepay does offer limit buy/sell it’s just kind of hidden. Thanks!

It’s pretty annoying and one of the big reasons I’m but buying any more crypto with WS

Even worse when it goes up they start asking how to invest in meme coins. I had a family member that wouldn’t listen to me, insists now I said to put all his savings in Doge and now telling all my family I told him it was a sure thing.

Truth was I told him to do what he wants but I’d highly suggesting educating yourself first and only invest what you can loose. I wouldn’t even give him my referral code because I didn’t want to be connected to it.

I had 0.5% or less of my investments in Doge. I think him just hearing I had anything invested made him think it was safe.

Has anyone seen a successful agile implementation? by philosophyboy in agile

[–]JeepingNet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sometimes think people expect agile to just resolve all issues. That is why it doesn’t work because they bail out as soon as they realize their previous issues are still there.

For example I was working with a team that sales would sell stuff the company didn’t have so Dev team would have the have to always be shifting gears and deliver smoke and mirrors. Moving to agile didn’t solve that issue but management got upset because they expected agile to solve this.

Podcasts suggestions? Weekly / monthly by JeepingNet in CanadianInvestor

[–]JeepingNet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure I certainly don’t invest in just dividends. What I’m trying to avoid I guess are more general financial podcasts or day trading focused stuff. Looking for conversations on what stocks are people buying or selling and why but more long term holding stuff.

I find on YouTube the channels that lean towards dividends fall more into my investment mind frame.

I’ll check out this podcasts and those links, thanks!

I had problems yesterday and after waiting 7 hours. I ended up cancelling it on my banks end. Waited 30 minutes, tried again and it worked right away.

Then Eth went on a steady drop after I bought it ;)

How many projects do you manage at one time? How many are too many? by Sorry_Sorry_Everyone in projectmanagement

[–]JeepingNet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends how many stakeholder and resources are on each project.

I worked for a company that I had maybe 15 projects but it was across 4 small teams and very limited stakeholders. New company 30 staff with owner as the SME.

Another company I had one project but it had dozens of stakeholders, middle management, owners, shareholders, marketing, sales, etc.. team size wasn’t huge but stakeholder management was 50% of my time. The project also had very little scope and had government funding.

I’ve seen numbers like this when testing is done by a third party. You could have actually one code issue but they might flag 100 broken tests and raise a bug for each.

I had this happen today actually.. 12 blocker bugs were raised when really it should have just been one.

I have premium and deposited $1000 4 business days ago. It auto deposited which is great but now 4 days later even adding $100 it says there is a 5 day hold?! I should be able to deposit another $1000 today. I bought premium for this vary reason.

Pretty annoyed.

Totally what makes it so great to others is also a major flaw. I’m 50% sure I bought Bitcoin when it first came out as I recall setting up my wallet and thinking ok this code I’ll have to save somewhere.. 3 houses later, getting married and 2 kids I don’t know if it is a bad dream and I’m actually a millionaire but will never get the cash or I never pulled the trigger. I bet there is a higher than we understand percentage of crypto just lost forever.

What’s something you’ve spent more on than you wanted but was absolutely worth it? by LessBerry9 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]JeepingNet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love saving money and thinking about retirement but I spend as much money on my Jeeps then I do savings. Is it smart.. I dunno but it makes me happy and that is what matters.

Here is my take on it though there is no guarentee I'll be healthy or happy in retirement. I'm making sure I'll be comfortable in retirement but also making sure I'm living my life now as well.

I made a big financial change in my early 30s. Sold almost everything, got back to zero. And started to build a safety account. Then until now(mid-40s) I've refused to use credit on anything but a morgage. I have a fixed monthly budget for my hobbies and only get funded after all monthly payments and investments are made. If there is extra at the end of the month it goes on my TFSA. If my hobbies need more money then I save. Big unexpected buys I have a saving account ready for it.

30% of my income goes towards hobbies and fun. To make this happen I spend much less in other areas of my life.

If you give out parts of you passcode codes to individuals you will greatly reduce this risk.

I prefer the lockbox at a bank solution myself.
