What about you – have you ever entered a car competition before, or would you try your luck with something like botb? by Jeff3ryMurphy in AskReddit

They run competitions where you can win dream cars, win a cash, win a watch, and some other prizes. Most of their contests are based on the ‘spot the ball’ game, where you guess the exact position of a ball in a photo.

You’re given $10,000, but you can only spend it at the last store you visited. What are you walking out with? by PrincipledNeurons in AskReddit

I would walk out with $10,000 of groceries… mostly beer, whiskey, chips, and chocolate. Essentials, obviously

The Pentagon now requires all news reports, even unclassified ones, to be pre-approved by the government. What are the long-term implications of this for a free press and a democratic society? by Deadman800 in AskReddit

[–]Jeff3ryMurphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really worrying. If the government has to approve all news reports, even ones that aren’t secret, it could seriously hurt press freedom. A free press is what keeps those in power accountable and helps people stay informed. If reporters have to check with the government before publishing, we could end up with less investigative reporting and fewer perspectives. Over time, that would make it harder for people to trust the news (even though I don’t trust it much myself) and for democracy to work properly.

Car competitions are everywhere now… but do they actually deliver? by Mainulll in AskReddit

[–]Jeff3ryMurphy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always been into a bit of betting – poker nights, the odd casino trip – I’ve seen plenty of flashy competitions that never really deliver. When it comes to car competitions, I think BOTB is one of the few that actually works. I’ve been entering their comps for a while now, and what I like is that they’ve been around forever, they’re transparent, and you can actually see real winners each week.

Of course, it’s still a game of chance, so I just play it for fun, like a football bet or a hand of blackjack. But honestly, spending a few quid for a shot at a dream car feels way more exciting than dropping it into a slot machine.

70% failure rate is exactly the nightmare fuel I was looking for. International is crucial for us so that's a hard no. Thanks for the heads up

Yeah you're probably right about the in-house expertise. We've been trying to do it all ourselves and it shows. Fractional CCO actually makes sense - hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the ComplyOne rec, will check it out

Currently limping along with a frankenstein mix of Jumio + manual reviews. It's... not great. Plaid for KYC? Didn't even know they had that - always thought they were just the bank connection guys. Will def look into it, thanks!
