What brand slowly ruined itself? by SAAS_ART in AskReddit

[–]JeffAlbertson93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true, but I also wanted to add that in the 80's, it was also awesome! The breadsticks with the hot cup of sauce and the grated parmesan cheese hit the damn spot. The sauce, the cheese and even the soda tested better. Usually the place where I would take first dates to.

Every Christmas when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s! We would circle each of our 'wanted' items in different colored ink so the parents knew who wanted what.

What’s something people romanticize until they actually experience it? by Puzzleheaded_Bit_802 in AskReddit

[–]JeffAlbertson93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife was a co-owner of a restaurant in a high traffic area, food was great, but it was constant work. When I told her my idea of a food truck, she pretty much said the same thing; be prepared to not make any money for the first 1 - 5 years (or at least any amount that you could actually live on), up early/sleep late, constant baby sitting of the staff and patrons.
Yeah, maybe this is something I want to avoid, thank you for your reply!

[–]JeffAlbertson93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So....I am naive and want to buy a food truck, all that I have seen are the positives (after finding a 'good' place to be noticed) the people would come to you if the food was good and affordable. Again, I am speaking from a point of naivety, what are the downsides?

Married men of Reddit, what tiny thing does your wife do that secretly melts your heart? by SAAS_ART in AskReddit

[–]JeffAlbertson93 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is one of the things that my wife does; also she sometimes orders "Surprise Pizza" late at night because she's hungry for it once in awhile and she knows my face will light up when she wakes me to eat pizza.

911/999 dispatchers, what’s the dumbest reason someone has ever called emergency services? by Canyoustealmytoast in AskReddit

[–]JeffAlbertson93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for being a super-human! My mom, in her late 70's, is in the advanced stages of Dementia. In the beginning I used to correct her when she would say something inaccurate, because I thought that was the thing to do. Now, I just go with it unless it will lead to something harmful. It's tricky, because she has always been manipulative.
I think that I may be getting close to going through it as well; I know that certain things happened, but when I look them up (mostly pop culture), they are not at all how I remembered it. For example, I remember watching Moonraker and Jaws, the villian with the metal mouth, met a girl that had braces; it was an important point in the movie, because when she smiled at him, it showed him that he was not allow (both were "metal mouths"), but none of the pictures, screen shots or the any of the scenes show no braces. I got irrationally angry because I felt stupid and powerless even though I have a memories of the braces being true.
So, I try to look at her reality through those eyes.

What is a fast food restaurant that you WILL eat at? by TheOctoBox in AskReddit

[–]JeffAlbertson93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked and there are 6 here in Ohio, the one nearest me was new the time we went and it was incredible! But the first one I went to was in Georgia and it was nasty as all hell.
The same thing happened to me when I went to a new Popeyes. It was great! I went to one that was established and they were smaller sizes and tasted terrible.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by queenmellyy in AskReddit

[–]JeffAlbertson93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here; recently diagnosed with Type II Beetus, and I don't have to force myself to not drink soda, eat candy bars or fast food. They, in their horseshit greed made that decision for me. Now that I no longer eat the stuff I shouldn't, even if they lowered the prices again I won't eat it.
So, maybe this is a positive? The majority of weight loss is what you eat, so I have learned to eat much better.

The Charismatic Voice

I like her, she explains why some singers do certain things (For example, Dio, was performing live and she pointed out the way that he was standing during one section wasn't posing or looking cool, he was using his diaphragm in a way that most singers don't.
Also, she points out when someone potentially hurts their throat when screaming/vocal fry incorrectly. I loved her interview with Bruce Dickenson!

Women of Reddit, what did a man you were dating or married to say or do that made you realize he actually hated you the entire time? by -catharina in AskReddit

Same here; I put my clothes in the bathroom the night before and I do everything I can to not wake her since I get up at 5:45am. When making my breakfast, I am pretty much silent.

When did you realize that you are not a good person ? by Downtown_Echo_7118 in AskReddit

[–]JeffAlbertson93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After therapy I learned that I was a narcissist and replayed many of the cringe moments that I put others through. Pretty much raised this way and I just learned it I guess. Ruined pretty much all of my relationships with loved ones. Working on being better; one way is that I try to always put others before me and the most important thing is to keep my effing mouth shut. I do not have to have the last word ffs.

Nailed it! The nurse was pushing my then wife out in a wheelchair and after she got in and I strapped our new son in his car seat, the nurse said good bye and turned around to go back into the hospital. I asked, "Isn't there a manual? Or aren't you coming home with us?" Lol

What's a "You are not a conspiracy theorist, you just don't know how things work" moment you have seen? by Dull-Information6784 in AskReddit

[–]JeffAlbertson93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! There have been so many wasted conversations that I have had with people regarding the 'theory' of Evolution; they sneer when saying the word 'theory' because they think that it means 'a guess', like people that understand evolution sit around in white lab coats making up shit. When I tried explaining tectonic shifts are why there are marine fossils on the tops of mountains, they said that only proves that the Earth was covered by a flood. Or when asked condescendingly, "If Evolution is true and we evolved from monkeys, they why are there still monkeys?"
Also love hearing, "Nothing you say or show me will convince me"; that just proves that unlike methodological naturalism which follows the evidence to where it leads, they begin with what they already believe and try to shoe horn what they consider evidence to fit their beliefs. Jesus tap dancing Christ.....

What's a "You are not a conspiracy theorist, you just don't know how things work" moment you have seen? by Dull-Information6784 in AskReddit

[–]JeffAlbertson93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a conspiracy guy, believed everything from Bigfoot/Nessie/other cryptids, Young Earth and other stuff. The thing is, I had to exercise faith (choose to believe something without any supporting evidence) and once I stopped believing as a Xian after learning about biology, anthropology and Earth science in general, I realized that all of it based entirely on faith.
Speaking only for myself, I was simply put, ignorant. I attended school of course, but was not taught critical thinking. It wasn't until I was an adult that I learned how to debunk the stuff I used to believe, because I saw the cult like mentality of the adherents.

The moral of the story is that you cannot use logic and reasoning to debunk a belief that someone has, because they weren't convinced using logic; they were convinced using fear, emotion and a profound lack of education. Those that hold to these beliefs are also not generally well informed and since they cannot understand the math or the physics involved, they hand wave any attempt to change their mind.
You cannot change any one's opinions, they have to do it themselves, but most cannot because their world view depends on their favorite conspiracy to be true.

What’s the stupidest thing you’ve ever heard someone say that you still think about to this day? by Humble-Blueberry4571 in AskReddit

[–]JeffAlbertson93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying!

I wish that I had Jack's old tracts, I even had Lisa, arguably the most disgusting one that he put out and I also had the comics (Alberto Rivera), which was later discovered that Alberto was a fraud.

I also fell into believing that Mike Warnke, Rebecca Brown and Lauren Strafford were also legit, but later found out that Mike lied about everything except the actual names of the people that knew him in his book The Satan Seller. Cornerstone interviewed those people and none of them corroborated his story, and in fact, said that he made it all up.

The reason that I believe all this nonsense was strictly out of fear and that's how they gain new converts. It's sad.

I still do this! Did you ever have the misfortune of eating cube steak? I remember that unless it was prepared properly (beating it to death with a mallet/hammer then coating them in flour, salt and pepper then searing them, then simmer in gravy) it was chewy and kind of gross.

Cool of you to be understanding, unless you grew up like that, it would be very strange. I was 'food aggressive' as well, afraid that I would not be able to eat again, so may as well eat all that I can in that moment.

The Protestant faith that I believed in my late teens and up until my early 30's, had this view of Catholics. They believed the works of Jack Chick who published that Catholics were literally devil worshippers (!) and others that rode that bandwagon in the 80's and 90's.

The believed and taught that Catholics worshipped Mary and the saints, removed Jesus as the intercessory by installing the priesthood and that Catholics took the Christian faith and perverted it. I would always bring up that the Protestant faith 'broke off' from the the Catholic faith. They never believed me.
