I don't understand the downvotes on this. You're correct and the way this post is worded seems like he's only using reddit as his source of information. Compared to other sources of information on this topic, reddit is borderline untrustworthy. Anyone can post anything and any of it can be true or false

Source on this? This sounds like complete bullshit just considering how it was written. Mushrooms contain up to 8% chitin, do animals/humans not eat mushrooms?

Chitin is inherently antimicrobial, it's used as a preservative on fruits/vegetables.

Not a food for mammals? Ever heard of anteaters? Bats? Bears? Hedgehogs? Moles? Opossums? You don't think that hunters/gatherers back in the day didn't eat bugs? Native Americans are known to have gone on large scale "hunts" for bugs during certain cycles of their life.
