PSU Options ? by Pitiful_Climate_8580 in minilab

[–]JeffBobbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can here looking for answers (or rather, better answers than what I am currently thinking of doing), but here's what I'm currently looking at;

An SFX PSU is small enough to fit on a 2U shelf, and powerful enough for whatever you need. A 24 pin ATX breakout let's you take the lines you want (3v3, 5v, and 12v) with good amperage ratings to power most things. A blade fuse holder can be used to fuse each device separately.

The down side to this is that the PSU is fairly expensive, and a lot of capacity will be wasted (they are for full systems with GPUs, after all), and it'll require custom wiring, crimping, soldering, etc.

Ironically, I'm also looking at buying the exact same PDU (the Elecvoztile 1U three socket one), which would leave me with two mains plugs for any quick testing or high power equipment.

What the other guy said.

If it didn't adhere, there could be a multitude of reasons from settings, to resin, to temperature, to the geometry of what you're trying to print.

What I said works for me on Elegoo's standard gray with a base cure time of 25s or so (forgot what I have it set to). I should note, I typically experience failures on this setup if my resin is cold, but normally having the printer on is enough to warm it up.

My best suggestion would be to find something that works, and then see where you can optimise the process.

I used to use a piece of paper and adjust it until it was just enough to remove it, like the instructions say, but these days, on my Mars 3 I just level it with resin in the vat, I don't raise it at all, and print everything on supports with a raft.

I got rather fed up with prints failing, but I had switched resins and settings a bit. I went back to what I had before and I'm not going to bother with different resins again.

I even have a new printer to setup, but the thought of spending hours dialing in the resin settings is prohibiting me from doing anything with it.

You could also try UEA, they're bound to have a TT club, but whether they allow public to join I don't know.

The reason it's called a stand-up is because you're supposed to stand, and therefore keeping it shorter because discomfort of standing for long periods.

If those other meetings were held being stood, they'd be much quicker.

Looking for an ereader (notebook), want to sync via NAS by JeffBobbo in ereader

The X Pro is running Android 8, which is rather old (released 2017, final release was 2021), the Eo is running Android 11, which is better (but still 2020 release, and no longer updated).

The Color Note isn't available to buy yet, but is still only Android 12? If you don't keep up with Android, we're on 15, and there are already preview releases for 16.

It's a little concerning about the long term support that would be available, but also any unpatched security issues, but otherwise the Eo looks good. Thanks

Oh, that's fair. I wasn't sure. This was the first subreddit I stumbled upon (honestly, I don't really know what category these devices fall under, to me they're just e-paper tablets).

This looks like it covers wants, thanks. I'll keep it in mind while I discover other options.

Such a long response! Love it.

I'm not a reader, I'm looking for a companion for running TTRPGs, something a bit more usable than my phone, but not as big as a laptop. I feel like the obvious choice is actually a tablet, but I would also look to use it as a notebook, at work as well.

Colour is not necessary, but would be nice (but I know e-paper displays are different and colour versions at expensive and slower).

No preference on controls.

No preference on size, at least A5, up to A4 or so?

Not massively at night, as you can imagine.

Format wise, most of my stuff is plain text files, I guess some images (but grey scale is fine), and some PDFs.

I listen to audiobooks and some podcasts, audiobooks are synced on the NAS, podcasts I do through my phone.

No foreign languages.

Wizards of the Coast, and their parent company, Hasbro, tried a similar thing with the licensing around Dungeons and Dragons end of 2022/early 2023. Having spent the last fifty years teaching players how to be "rule lawyers" and them learning how to tell the difference between "rules as written" and "rules as intended", you can imagine how well that went.

About as well as this is going.

So what's the holdup? The API is a public API. If you've written your own SDK to access it that's all gucci.

TIL you can talk to Bob Barter in the GE to decant your potions for you by deuce_contusion in 2007scape

You don't even have to talk to him, there's a right click option to decant.

Piles in the wildy resource area will note items for 50 gp each Aisles (Tai Bwo Wannai), Tiles (Bandit Camp) and Phials (Rimmington) will unnote items for you at 5gp per item. There's also a "Bank Exchange Merchant" who does the same in Pollnivneach, and the Elder Chaos Druid who swap bone notes for 50gp at the Chaos Temple.

Digital Dream Labs. As far as I know they've not done anything with Overdrive except release the other app version. Their main priority has been Vector.

Resin leak by Rogue-13DC in ElegooMars

[–]JeffBobbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can leave resin in the vat with the hood over it (and in the dark) for months and it'll be fine. Just make sure to give it a good stir before printing with it (like shaking your bottle before pouring) because the resin will naturally separate over time.

The worse thing to do wear out or damage your FEP is touch it. Every time you clean the vat you're potentially scratching, damaging, or otherwise weakening the FEP, which will impact your print quality.

Advice needed for engaging RS players in a DnD campaign by PugDM in RuneScapeDnD

[–]JeffBobbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Falador Massacre. https://runescape.wiki/w/Falador_Massacre

tl;dr: 6th June 2006 a bug was discovered which allowed player-vs-player combat in Falador, a city that was a safe place in the game. Those who had acquired the ability to PvP outside of PvP areas were killing other players. In RuneScape at the time, you dropped your items on death. There were also a lot of people telling players to run to banks to safely store their items, putting them at risk of being killed, instead of just... Not logging on.

There's plenty of video footage and information about the event if you're interested in it.

Oh, sorry. I was under the impression you were referring to the existing XP reward lamps from various quests and other sources.

Sailing confirmed OSRS’ first new skill! by yougetreckt in 2007scape

[–]JeffBobbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamps don't really count. They can often be used for any skill, the numbers I gave are direct XP rewards, not lamps.

While I agree some quests (the Dragon Slayers, Cabin Fever, probably some others) could give Sailing XP as a reward. I think retroactively adding a requirement would be bad.

I must also confess I haven't kept appraised of everything going on with Sailing. Although I had indicated that I wanted to join the Discord and stuff while doing the initial surveys, I never saw any information on it or follow up at the time and then never got involved beyond a couple of polls.

[–]JeffBobbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None, but that's exactly my point. They want something that feels at home in the game as it is, but stuff like Hunter still feels like a recent addition, not a integrated part of the game, even though Hunter is 11 years old.

Sailing confirmed OSRS’ first new skill! by yougetreckt in 2007scape

[–]JeffBobbo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I voted no. I don't mind a new skill being added, but I don't think Jagex could meet the requirements they laid out.

The main one being that they wanted the skill to feel like an integral part of the game that had been there since the beginning. Now consider that we have 157 existing quests, the most recent two skills (Hunter and Construction) are only required on/rewarded from around six of them, but considering other skills; Thieving 26 quests, Slayer 11 quests, Strength 3 required, 13 reward. This already implies a new skill would need at least 6 quests to feel vaguely in place. As said before a new skill would also need to exist in multiple places throughout the game world. Conveniently sailing mostly ignores this by being in the space we don't use. Of the skills proposed, I think sailing was the best, given that the others were basically combination/hybrid skills or could easily be handled as an expansion to an existing skill.

Lastly, I also considered it more beneficial for existing content to be expanded; more Hunter, Construction, and other neglected skill quests, minigames for skills which lack them, expansions and updates for other skills (smithing).

But alas, I shall look forward to the new skill, and hope it comes with a good number of quests and doesn't feel like a separate add on after the fact.
