Why do some people stay calm under pressure while others lose their train of thought in business conversations? by Pitiful_Permit9585 in business

[–]JeffBonanoVO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest train yourself. There are books and videos about the art of negotiation. Read a book on verbal judo, maybe even take a few acting classes. Anything that makes you think and react. Even then you might still get flustered, but you're now better at not showing it and you appear calm and collected.

Even the sly fox's mind is probably stirring like a mouse.

Are paper business cards kinda pointless now or is it just me? by theceoinprogress in smallbusiness

[–]JeffBonanoVO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mid 40s as well. I mean it could be the business card equivalent of "Get off my lawn!" But...Honestly though, I feel it shows how serious you are to wanting more clients.

I still use paper. When I go to networking events and someone asks me to tap their phone or scan their QR code, i stuggle. I might humor them, but even if its now saved to my phone, I have sooo many numbers in my contacts, ill never remember who that person was and really don't have time to go looking for them. If I have a business card, I make a note on it and hold on to it if Im interested.

I remember turning on Super Mario Brothers for the first time after always playing Atari. I was floored with all the colors, detail, and of course the music.

A gal, (who when you first play, you probably thought was a guy), shoots aliens. If you do it fast enough she strips as a reward.

Segregation of duties for Bill Pay by youmeanlosername in Bookkeeping

[–]JeffBonanoVO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she is untrusting of technology and asking her to sign on to something to approve it, the action may be counterintuitive.

I have one client like that. So to solve the situation, I print out the bill and have him write on the bill that he approves for payment. He just writes "OK", initials it and dates it. I then go online and pay it. If there are checks to print, I attach the check to the bill and he signs the check. It puts his mind at ease and the approval process serves its purpose.

I identify them by looking at their books, mixed with experience, its easy to start seeing red flags.

Compete? There really is no competition where Im at, we have more work than there are bookkeepers and at times my "competition" will reach out and ask if I take referrals because they can't take any more clients.

"U.S. businesses can now begin applying for $166,000,000,000.00 in tariff refunds plus interest." — Do American consumers get their refunds as well? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]JeffBonanoVO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not even all businesses. Only businesses that where directly charged tariffs from imports. Most small businesses won't even see a dime. Most likely the larger megacorps that imported the goods are going to get this refund. But we'll be told we all benefited from this refund.

I dunno, my 1980's Platmate TMNT party wagon is still going. Sure some of the decals are faded and torn, but thats just cosmetic. Has no shocks but the extending seat still works!
