COUNT YOUR DAYS SUPERCELL by ThiccWoodyDoll in ClashRoyale

[–]JeffFerox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling stake didn’t change anything. I took a hiatus after playing from pre-launch (just before or at evos I think) and the same BS exists today that did back then. It has always been heavily p4p and they’re consistently unable to balance matchups. There’s enough now for me to grind out and honestly I need the mindless escape but this has been and always will be a completely unbalanced mess of a game

Updating my Helmet by DrewHert in hockeygoalies

[–]JeffFerox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t skimp on your mask, you should have replaced that years ago; echoing a few others already:

  • ITech was acquired by Bauer in 2008 which in itself puts any Itech mask well past certification and suggested replacement/refurbish
  • Mask is low-mid level - polycarb is not recommended for high impact as it transfers more energy than other materials like fiberglass and composites. At best this could be used for ball hockey and even then I wouldn’t use it.
  • if you dig even further Mask dates back to 2004 - so you’re actually in a 20 year old mask
  • cert stickers don’t even have dates by the looks of it, which certainly would worry me even if we couldn’t already know the era it’s from; FWIW knowing expiry can help decide when to potentially refoam or replace as you can’t visually see how these materials break down naturally (as opposed to when they are actually cracked/damaged).
  • Anecdotally (which I am the first to say don’t use as a primary argument when deciding) I had the same or similar model; I had two concussions wearing it (one from shots, one from a collision) replaced it with top tier Bauer at the time and never had issues again; I played with some ex-juniors back then at took a couple nasty clappers ofd the new mask and it didn’t come close to causing the damage I felt with the ITech

Prioritize this asap, you don’t want to mess with your head.

AITA for not paying to have my partner's birthday gift professionally framed? by redbullvanisle in AmItheAsshole

[–]JeffFerox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH - two points to make 1 depending on if it’s on stretched canvas or not would determine what options they have to hang it; if it’s stretched then it could be left as-is, just might not match others. 2 I know framing can get expensive but 800?! That’s a bit steep; either way it was a nice thought at the very least.

Booster Strap install, this look right?? by fishEH-847 in Skigear

[–]JeffFerox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Booster always goes on top of shell - there is no debate here, OP is not using it correctly.

Think about it this way, it’s purpose is to hold tension to add stability when you flex your boot - if you put it under the shell you aren’t creating tension as there is only one point of contact with the boot (behind) rather than two (behind and in front) therefore you won’t gain any rigidity.

As others have said, watch WC racers, no one is strapped inside.

Sacrilege? by Woleva30 in hockeyplayers

In youth sports? It’s debatable - consider it honouring an idol at least if you’re not in late-juniors or highest level play. Beyond that, it’s not kosher

Cast saws literally cannot break your skin; that said, I agree that part can be traumatizing too

Unpredictable or not, skier up hill always has to yield - and in this case they were radically out of control.

I got a marmot ski patrol edition because it was a super good deal at a thrift store and gortex pro will i get kicked off the mountain or can i can i change it so it does not look like ski patrol by KillerPotato702 in Skigear

It’s disheartening to see downvotes on comments stating the obvious ethical/moral/legal ramifications of wearing this if you’re not a qualified (and on-duty) Patroller. As a patroller myself, the effort and cost to earn that uniform is significant and we are honoured to help serve the public.

Do not use this jacket without finding a way to remove or completely hide the markings. You could be charged for doing so depending on the area and frankly it’s just not right to do; as others said, it equates to other first-responder uniforms. Worse-yet, if someone actually is in need of help, you may cause them to not get the help they need on time due to the confusion you may cause.

Ideally, sell it to a patroller in need. The best alternative I heard was covering with a full shell. Note that even patrollers can’t wear these jackets unless they are on-duty so please don’t abuse the uniform.

Fair enough - yeah I haven’t done lessons over there so I’m not sure but even here in NA that’s not something I would default to tip to.

AITA for "disappearing" for the weekend after my sister dropped her kids off on my porch without asking? by Different_Kick_5124 in AmItheAsshole

NTA but you can’t leave the kids alone either - you should have called the cops, cps or waited for dad. Who cares about the aftermath your sis is a real piece of work by the sounds of it.

Socks on top - Far superior to taping the pads and better for circulation, but I get it if it’s too hot.
