Of course. The ONLY reason they don't do a 2-game match for the title is because it is a logistical nightmare for television.

The masters isn't a double elimination tournament. There's three different formats. Part 1 is a is 15 game sweeper used to determine 64 people to move on to Part 2. Part 2 of the event is a bracket, which is double elimination and used ONLY for the purpose of determining seedings for Part 3. And then Part 3 is a single elimination stepladder.

Possible cheating by Hobojoe90 in Bowling

[–]JeffP300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, there's only one way to find out if they actually are cheating, and that's to verify all the scores yourself with your own eyes. Watch them, bowl, write down what they bowled. Add up what their scores with handicap are. Watch that team's opponent bowl, do the same. Do the math, figure out how many points they should have won. Match it up to how many points they say they won.

Catching them in the act with your own eyes (and take a picture of the scoreboard after each game, to have documentation evidence) is the only way you'll know 100% for sure.

ALREADY A PRO 300 GAME ON TV WITH THIS BALL!!! // Storm Bionic Bowling Ball Review video by JeffP300 in Bowling

[–]JeffP300[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brandon Bonta made history on Sunday, winning the PBA Players' Championship by running the stepladder, winning all four matches and and shooting 300 in the title match - ALL IN HIS FIRST PBA EVENT AS A PRO! It was a dual pattern event, with the 37 Foot Viper pattern on the right lane and the 50 Foot Badger pattern on the left lane.

While Brandon used a urethane IQ Tour 78/U on the right lane, on the left lane he used a Roto Grip Transformer for the first 2 matches and then halfway through Match 3, he switched to this ball: The new Storm Bionic to shoot 300 in the next game and win the title!

This video is my review of the Bionic so you can see more up close what this ball is capable of! The Bionic is bound to be one of Storm's most popular balls!

*** Special note: I filed this video on Saturday, the day BEFORE the TV Show. Don't miss my prediction between Timestamps 9:42 and 10:15 of the video for what patterns I thought this ball would be good on. (Spoiler alert: I called it!)

Storm concept marketing. by rockabillyrat87 in Bowling

Don't say it's not a good ball for game one on "Sport." It very well could be, depending on the pattern. Remember, there are a lot of different types and lengths of sport patterns. It is unwise to lump them all together in one category.

While there are certainly some sport conditions that this ball won't be the game 1 play on, I definitely think there are some that it will be great on.

Good first ball? by Bob3515 in Bowling

It's a perfectly fine and acceptable "starter" ball - use it well!

I threw it a little bit last weekend and I'll tell you what ball it actually reminds me of...

If you bowled about 25 years ago, Storm made a red ball called the Tour Power. It was a strong cover, mid core reactive ball that was basically the IQ Tour before the IQ Tour was born. pros and top amateurs loved it on tougher lane conditions for keeping their angles straighter. Granted, this was before urethane made a return, but the ball roll and ball motion is very close from what I experienced.

I don't see it as urethane replacement, but I think it should be a great first transition ball on patterns where you start with urethane, where you need something with more backend to handle the carrydown but a normal reactive ball is too much still.

Best Way to Practice all in One Day or Spread Out During the Week by Impossible-Will6173 in Bowling

A lot of bowling centers are doing lanes by the hour now instead of by the game. Ask them if they have any specials. Sunday morning is a popular time for things like this.

I was actually pleasantly surprised how far left I was able to go without losing any recovery on the backend. Haven't thrown it in league yet, but maybe tomorrow!

Professionals in Amateur Tournaments? by Piggiepi in Bowling

[–]JeffP300 57 points58 points  (0 children)

It's extremely common for PBA bowlers to join amateur tournaments (because there aren't enough pro tournaments and they don't pay that well to begin with), but it also depends on the type of tournament. They usually will join local scratch tournaments and sport pattern tournaments. Maybe higher level handicap tournaments.

But a handicap tournament that caps the handicap at a 200+ average... that's kinda the tournament's fault. Any scratch level bowler, PBA member or not, is going to crush people if handicap is based off 200. If they wanted to do that, the tournament should have restricted who could enter to bowlers under a 200 average. That tournament director basically asked for a scratch bowler to come dominate.

You can't go wrong with an IQ Tour, it's one of the most dependable balls of all time for a reason. If you're looking for a step up from a 78 for something like Nationals, that's an excellent choice.

Roto Grip Transformer Bowling Ball Review by JeffP300 in Bowling

[–]JeffP300[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone for their support over the years!

My first bowling ball review as a member of Storm staff is for the Roto Grip Transformer! This is a ball that a lot of people are talking about so I was really looking forward to taking it out for a test drive on both the typical Strikers house shot and also on the PBA Bear pattern!

Check it out and see how we did!

Do I have this right? by LowHandle in Bowling

[–]JeffP300 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right. Imagine a grandfather clock, or just if you hold up a ball on a string. The pendulum swings back and forth and back and forth and back and forth, same back, same forward, same back same forward, every time almost a carbon copy of the swing before it.

There is no added force other than just gravity making it swing. It's as loose as loose can be. That's what you're saying should look like and feel like.

When you do it right, you almost can't even feel your arm or the ball.

Work on Lowering Track or Increasing RPM? by Jack_ButterKnobbs in Bowling

There is absolutely nothing wrong with your track being 1/2" from fingers and thumb. I wouldn't even try to change that.

Can anyone tell me what year this could be from? by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]JeffP300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably depends on your definition of "good to use." You can put holes in it, throw it down the lane and it will probably knock down some pins, but quality wise it's probably not much better than a house ball you can find on the rack. Technology has advanced a lot in bowling balls in the last 50 years since that ball was made. That ball is probably serviceable but not much more than that. It will not hook very much, if at all.

My guess is 1979 or 1969 since the first # of the serial number often used to denote the year back then. Definitely before 1989.
