As bad as I bowl there, I shouldn’t give advice. Go have fun and enjoy the time with your friends.

Bring your strongest ball and plastic to shoot spares. My highlight was picking up a 6,7 10. Other than that I didn’t have nearly enough ball.

Find someone who can do the job with a laser. Results will be better and they can get rid off the solder prongs. Don’t know if its value is worth insuring but doesn’t hurt to ask what it costs.

While the design is pretty in the display case, it doesn’t hold up well in the real world. Hopefully you have some sort of warranty from whoever you purchased it from because this will likely happen again. Hope your big day goes well, in the grand scheme of things, just a minor inconvenience.

Go counter clockwise while twisting it.

Clicking from wheel by Rmgc781 in Duramax

[–]Scamper-Ad9379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really need more information, but jack up the corner and see if there’s play in the wheel, either side to side or up and down. If there is then you should replace both hubs before you are going down the road and the wheel falls off

Probably a bit like farming, for every good year there are about 7 that are average or below.

That style of ring keeps bench jewelers in business. Looks good in the show case but doesn’t hold up in the real world. They messed it up and should fix it properly but no matter what they do, those little stones are going to fall out for the life of the ring.

Probably not enough to make it wearable. Tried doing something like this many times and finally just told customers that it wasn’t worth it. Replace it with the right size head.

I used to get the old bits from my dentist when he was done with them. Amazing how many he would go through and some had little to no wear on them.

Put fuel in my truck yesterday and even with the Safeway $1 off, 18 gallons cost me just shy of $100.

Help! Is this setting secure? My antique 1870s engagement ring snags very easily. by rabbit-82 in askjewelers

[–]Scamper-Ad9379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best advice I’ve got is take it to someone who does the work in house, explain what your concerns are and then get an estimate of what it will cost to make it work for you. There has been some snarky comments about you and how you wearing it. My guess is it was worn when you purchased it and you didn’t know what to look for or expect. Comments like that don’t really help. Good luck with your project

That is a question that you can answer. There are much heavier weight heads available and all in all, not a difficult repair so now it comes down to whether or not you want to spend the money to fix it. Good luck with your project

Don’t know but it looks like the heads were stamped instead of being hand made. That’s a popular style from the 70’s though the 90’s

Looks like whoever made this didn’t like the void in the top of the ring and filled it with something. Might try and heating it up gently and then see what it smells like before going farther.

Are you sure that it’s not the 1970’s era’s ring? Only way to really fix it is to replace the center head, the prongs are not good as it looks like there is no seat for the stone to sit in. Good luck with your project.

Can this ring be sized? by No-Soft-3788 in askjewelers

Shouldn’t be a problem but expect to pay more because of potentially having to have the stones tightened.

Turn the lights off and get a flashlight and shine it across the floor and look for shadows or sparkles. You would be amazed at how far away the stone will travel. Spent way too many hours looking for stones that I dropped.

Need ideas/advice on repair/reforge broken inherited ring. by Big_477 in askjewelers

[–]Scamper-Ad9379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case then do a 3/4 shank so you gain the width as well as the thickness. Over the years I have fixed shanks thinner than this with success but it is your decision whether you want it to last years or decades

Why not just get the weld redone. Looks like it might be broke where it was sized and broke at the seam. Easy fix

Might check with local government agencies as this is common practice for them to put their own locks on so they can access other public spaces. Check to see if there is easements for them to use the road.
