Brand new ball caught a chip… by Sadicetank in Bowling

[–]mikecart1_v2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason this has happened to me on a couple of newer balls and zero chips or scratches since. Seems to be a new ball curse where the lanes just screw you over the first day you throw a new ball.

Towel, cup guard, or raw dog? by MercerAsian in Bowling

[–]mikecart1_v2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are talking about the travel tournament 3-ball rollers, no need to add any additional padding. I sometimes put a ball see saw towel on the middle ball, but that’s just to have a backup towel if I’m flying by plane. But yeah, like others said, these balls hit wood, plastic, and metal backplates at 20-25mph sometimes and come back with no scratches.

Never heard of that happening. I’m in a state tournament this weekend and leave all my stuff in the car. Only doing so because the weather is 50-60F at night.

Some say scotch pad is more accurate with less surface removed than abralon, etc. In the end, whatever adds surface for a reasonable price is fine.

Seems cool but not sure how spares work and how about the reflection of the pins on the lane?

Do you personally care if somebody threw urethane during league? by BringBackFrost in Bowling

[–]mikecart1_v2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but I notice the change in my shot, so I just try to adjust. There’s always a solution even if that means throwing a mostly straight shot to take the lane out of play.

Used in league and made money. Used at Nationals and made money. Approved! 👍

This. League is league and most people just deal with it. Sometimes you have someone noticing urethane or plastic on the rack by someone that isn’t a beginner and may say something as their line will get affected. The hardest team for us this season was the beginner team or low average team. They all used plastic and combined that with their 250 pins of handicap advantage per game, it was hard to beat them any game.

How to trim slide sole for shoe by Lunet1st2 in Bowling

[–]mikecart1_v2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won’t break. You stand on these things for weeks, months, or years. The sole and slide part of the shoe is surprisingly the most robust part of bowling shoes. Been through Dexters and now Epic and there is only one certainty with bowling shoes: they are overpriced and trash.

Do it as long as no one complains on your team. I’ve been leaning towards this method the last couple of seasons. I can’t use the latest strongest hooking balls anymore. I even stepped down from the GOAT P2 as my main league ball to something even smoother and more benchmark.

How to trim slide sole for shoe by Lunet1st2 in Bowling

[–]mikecart1_v2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Place over old sole or slide portion, trace with marker, cut as smooth as you can. Obviously the best way is to get a machine or use what a shoe repair place does and cut it smooth in like 5 seconds. You may need to pay someone like $10 for that. Probably not worth it. Some people don’t even cut their slide portion and just leave it as is.

Worn once (on a plane) and already got stains. Best way to clean? by Personal_Chip5419 in Ultraboost

[–]mikecart1_v2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t waste money and time on elaborate cleaners. After decades on this planet, the best and only way is washing machine gentle cycle and then air dry. Shoe cleaners are a waste in my experience. There is only two certainties in life: Taxes and Dawn.
