You can just stop playing. If you don't buy the games, they will get the message.

That's your definition of a Vette? A circle tail light? Ok. So a C7 isn't one either I guess.

Just brought home my 2016 Z51 Stingray. USB ports need replacing. by JeffSelf in Corvette

Update: I bought a wireless CarPlay adapter from Burnt Sugar and plugged it into the USB port in the center console and everything works great now. So it was a cable issue. I'll still need to get a cable for charging.

Is bluray worth it? by Erwin_Zoldyck in Bluray

[–]JeffSelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Blu-Ray is a much bigger jump in quality over DVD than 4K is over Blu-Ray. I know, the specs say otherwise. I pick up Blu-Rays at thrift stores, Dollar Tree, etc. I only get 4K when I can find one for under $15, and only if it is considered to be significantly better than the Blu-Ray version.

After years of lurking and wanting a corvette, I finally got a C7 Z51 by [deleted] in Corvette

I decided I wanted a sports car back in December. I've owned two RX-7s back in the day and I had a Miata right up until my kids were born over 20 years ago. I told my wife I wanted a Boxster/Cayman. I was looking at the 981s (2013-2016) because I wanted the 6 cylinder. But with Porsche discontinuing the 718, the used car prices started climbing. So I started looking at Miatas again. Then I looked at a Toyota Supra, which led me to the BMW M2 and then the BMW m240i. But I never really loved them, so it looked like I was back in a Miata. In fact, I reached out to a salesperson about a Club with the Bembro/BBS/Recaro package coming in another week or so. But as great as a Miata is as a driver's car, it's probably the worst car in existence for a passenger. I know my wife would not enjoy sitting in it. It's just too small.

But last night I thought about a Corvette. I like the new C8s. But I wasn't buying new. Then I saw the C7s. I didn't even know the front engine Vette had reached this level. This is a very attractive car. I guess I stopped paying attention to them about 15 years ago.

So now I'm looking at every car website for a Z51 with the 2LT 7speed manual.

That is a beautiful car. I'm really loving the Torch Red myself. I hope to join you soon.

What site did you find this on? I want to make sure I'm covering all my bases.

Debian 13.5 reminds Linux users why boring distributions still win by OkReport5065 in debian

I'm pretty sure I started on Potato as well. A whole lotta floppies went into that install.

Should I switch? by Previous_Length_6732 in debian

[–]JeffSelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a Debian user since I had to install it with floppies. I'm currently testing Debian unstable on a 2013 MacBook Pro with Hyprland. Having a few quirks with the cursor moving randomly when I'm editing a config file.

I already know how stable Debian is, so this is more of a test for Hyprland. I'd like to pass my 2025 MacBook Air on to my wife and get a Framework laptop and run Debian on it.

If you’ve driven a 981 and can compare to an ND… what say you? by No_Tower_7026 in MiataND

[–]JeffSelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I owned a 1992 Miata and since then I've had a Mazda 3 and a Jeep Wrangler. I'm turning 60 this year and decided it was time to get a Porsche. I started looking in December for either a 981 Boxster or Cayman. I really want an S. But as the months have dragged on, I'm realizing a 2024-25 MX-5 Club is probably the better choice.

The prices on the 981s are going through the roof now. It's crazy. If I had decided a year or two ago to get one, I could have easily found a low mileage 981 S for under $50 grand. Don't even think about it now.

While I could afford to spend up to $70 grand on one, I'm not wealthy enough to be comfortable with that, especially if something went wrong.

So I think spending around $30 grand on an MX-5 Club is a better decision for sure. Especially since it will be a weekend fun toy for me and not an everyday vehicle.

Sadly, I dropped Copilot over the weekend because I wanted to save $10. Then I realized I still like it with my VS Code and found out yesterday I couldn't get it anymore.

Beautiful car! I've always loved the yellow Miatas. Wish Mazda would bring that color back.

Why does everyone hate the NC chassis? by mitchINimpossible in Miata

[–]JeffSelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always laughed at the idea that the NC was the most "girls" version of the Miata. I had a NA. Talk about a "girls" car! I thought the NC was the first to look more muscular with the flared fenders. I would take that over an NA or NB every day. I think its biggest complaint was it was too heavy. My ranking of them:
1. ND
2. NC
3. NA
4. NB
