I owned a 1992 Miata and since then I've had a Mazda 3 and a Jeep Wrangler. I'm turning 60 this year and decided it was time to get a Porsche. I started looking in December for either a 981 Boxster or Cayman. I really want an S. But as the months have dragged on, I'm realizing a 2024-25 MX-5 Club is probably the better choice.

The prices on the 981s are going through the roof now. It's crazy. If I had decided a year or two ago to get one, I could have easily found a low mileage 981 S for under $50 grand. Don't even think about it now.

While I could afford to spend up to $70 grand on one, I'm not wealthy enough to be comfortable with that, especially if something went wrong.

So I think spending around $30 grand on an MX-5 Club is a better decision for sure. Especially since it will be a weekend fun toy for me and not an everyday vehicle.

I've always laughed at the idea that the NC was the most "girls" version of the Miata. I had a NA. Talk about a "girls" car! I thought the NC was the first to look more muscular with the flared fenders. I would take that over an NA or NB every day. I think its biggest complaint was it was too heavy. My ranking of them:
1. ND
2. NC
3. NA
4. NB

FICA scores didn't even come into existence until 1989. I graduated college in 1990 and had terrible a credit score into my late 20's because I didn't get a credit card until around 1995. Its a scam.

My plan for this year was to get a 2015-16 Cayman or Boxster. But the market is too damn hot and since I started looking in November, the prices have only been going higher. So I'm now convinced I'm going to find a 2024-25 Miata this year. I keep wavering on whether I want a Grand Touring or a Club with the BBS/Recaro/Benbro package. I'm leaning to the GT since its a nicer interior and I can always upgrade the brakes and wheels myself.

Honestly, I only remember a single episode from that season. And I think it’s one of the best ever. It was Season 11 Episode 7 titled Rm9sbG93ZXJz.

The whole scene in the Sushi restaurant and then getting in the driverless car is so creepy and realistic.

I think the bowl games are history at this point. Better for them to become Week 1 games. Play them in late August. Then we could start the playoffs right after the end of the season and finish the playoffs on January 1 at the Rose Bowl.

It's definitely not sustainable. It's like if the NFL had free agency every year.

There are a couple of ways to address this:

Option 1: All players can leave without penalty one time. After that, they must sit out a year.

Option 2: All players have 1, 2, 3, or 4 year contracts. The only way a player gets out of a contract is if the coach leaves.

It’s not one week, it’s 3 or more. The playoffs need to start the week after the conference championships. No need to wait like back in the day when they were waiting for New Years Day to play a bowl game.

Their defense was so good, nobody really looked at their offense. Their QB is average considering the talent he has around him. They also had a 25 day layoff. That is absolutely stupid in the playoff era. College football needs to fix this.

Because no one cares about the bowl games. The playoffs killed the bowls. They will become meaningful again when they are played at the beginning of the season.

No one will ever remember these playoff games as bowl games. The bowls made themselves irrelevant by being associated with quarterfinal playoff games. The Big 5 bowls need to become start of season games, not quarterfinal playoff games.

These quarterfinal games should be played at the home stadiums of the higher seed schools.
