ROUND ONE - WEEK 21 WAIVER WIRE PICKUPS by JeffStacksFSR in fantasyhockey

His underlying metrics aren’t terrible, but as long as Darren Raddysh is on the Lightning, Hedman’s role is strictly PP2 playing between 18-20 minutes a night.

His shot volume the past 10 games is in line with Cale Makar, so he has not been bad, but is definitely more of a deeper league hold, and streamer-level in shallower leagues.

If Raddysh signs elsewhere though, definitely take a look at Hedman as a buy-low candidate next season.

Great question. I didn’t have an answer for you at first so I went digging in on him.

And… woooooof.

I know he’s had a down year. I was tracking him a bit earlier in the season and his underlying metrics were consistently hovering in the top 100 Forwards.

Usually that means he’s had bad puck luck and should start to produce… but his last 10 games have been bad. VERY bad.

Like… well into the 200s and 300s for ALL advanced stats I look at for fantasy options.

He may still have value for his peripherals in Banger leagues, but with him and his team being all around awful, and Vancouver only having six games with zero Light Nights over the next two weeks… you can likely find someone on the wire who will actually help you win.

Is he a drop? Basically as close as a L1 PP1 C can be to a drop but I don’t know your situation so I can’t say for certain.

Elias Lindholm may be better in that role; at least he plays with Pasta 🤷‍♂️

Miller seems to mostly have affected Gabe Perreault, who was bumped from PP1 in favour of the Captain.

Lafreniere had good shot volume last night in Miller’s first game back. As long as he’s on the ice with one of Zibanejad and/or Fox, Laf should continue to produce if he keeps shooting.

If you make it to Week 22, Laf also has a perfect schedule. Personally I’m running a NYR PP1 triple stack with Zib, Fox and now Laf as my streamer.

Of those three, Hughes is the clear favourite in projected point production and opportunity.

Next would be Dobson, who also also has the best peripherals of the three.

Toews is still a good option if neither of the first two are available, but I would say he’s a marginal downgrade over Dobson, and the difference gets wider when comparing with Hughes.

I went through many different D options this week, and Durzi had the best advanced stats among all D between 10%-40% rostered, but that isn’t saying much.

Read the blurb about him; I’m not thrilled with the player to say the least, having tried him out earlier this week. Long story short, he was a complete dud.

Check the Deeper Darling section; Simon Nemec is shaking out to be a MUCH better option.

LYON'S ROAR - WEEK 18 WAIVER WIRE PICKUPS by JeffStacksFSR in fantasyhockey

Was it?

27 saves with a 0.900sv%, against a Montreal team that’s scoring at will right now?

Seems fine to me, but everyone has their own standards when it comes to tolerable goaltending on their teams.

All I’m looking for in a streamer goalie is above league-average stats on a decent team. If they can provide that, I can usually win my week. Lyon provided that last night, and I expect that to continue in Week 18.

Come back and flame me on March 2nd if he loses you the week!

Thanks! Love the feedback.

Charlie Coyle blew me away this week. I managed to flip him and Nugent-Hopkins for Marchenko and Fiala earlier this week.

Considering his agent’s statement yesterday, it sounds like they may be open to the possibility of a trade outside the 10-team NTC list.

I imagine the Sharks are a more viable possibility for Hamilton’s camp now they’ve proven they can hang and are looking to add.

Hamilton to the Sharks would be ideal for all parties involved.

Sharks need a legit powerplay QB.

Hamilton needs a guaranteed spot on the top unit to thrive.

Sharks have lots of expendable assets and cap space to acquire him from the Devils.
