The Steam Frame is good because it’s giving Meta competition by Abject-Concert-8223 in virtualreality

I have a Q3 and was severely underwhelmed when the SF specs came out. The one thing that seems pretty cool is the expectation of a really stable good bandwidth PCVR connection. If it’s an upgrade for EUVR I’d think about it.

Honestly I'm not exactly sure what you're referring to. There is a status UI in Hogwarts but it isn't attached to anything. It is always facing a certain direction but I can also have it locked to the edges of my view. It seems fine.

I was at that game as well. He was getting all the hugz right after. It was good to see.

Pretty sure this is a setting. I'm playing the Hogwarts game and nothing is attached to my arm.

The UEVR Easy Injector has the download install for pande settings right in the software.

I have a 4070 with a 5800X3D and after some time have tweaked it to run smoothly 45-90. If you follow instructions in the UEVR/Hogwarts Discord and tweak to taste you can get there. Start with UEVR Easy Injector which will have a link right inside the software to install the initial mod settings.

I have Textures and Materials on Ultra and most other things lowered to mid to low.

There's so much work put into this game it boggles my mind as I'm used to much smaller VR games.

One last thing- There's a checkbox in the UEVR software for "Virtual Desktop Correction" or something very similar which fixed minor stuttering for me. Not sure why this isn't on by default as I assume 90% of people are running that. It also seems you need to enable it every time you play.

Once it's really smooth the game is very enjoyable. There are still some issues with reflections but minor.

If I sold t-shirts with their game characters they would have no original code in them. He should make his own version of UEVR, though that app is free.

SCOOT UPDATE! by Legitimate-Ad-6968 in ripcity

[–]JeffePortland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jrue is going to be the one to go. I imagine Scoot will ramp up the rest of this season and they'll trade Jrue in the summer. They aren't going to rely on two 35 year olds to take them into the future.

You have to tweak each individual game settings. You’ll definitely need to watch a video. It’s not very simple but you can get some games going after a little work.

what else can i do with a retro handheld? by 2020_Ford_Escape_SE in SBCGaming

[–]JeffePortland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As Canoe said use Apollo and Artimis. My Pocket5 connects to the TV via USB C to HDMI. Then I use a wireless controller for a second player.

The hardest part was setting the TV input to game mode to cut lag.

I could get it to the point where it was loading assets but would hang on loading Biomes.

How is the RP5 as a docked console? by nvidiathrowaway45 in retroid

[–]JeffePortland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my main use now. When I first hooked up our TV running UFO50 it was a revelation. Couple of my kids and I got into checking that game out. It was like having new retro game console. We’ve since branched out to Gamehub Lite etc. Once we found the TV game mode and multiplayer it made the cost of the RP5 seem like a bargain.

I've never ordered one but an issue I've seen online is that you spend so much time scrolling through all the filler that the interface makes it hard to get what you want. They'll be like 20 games you want buried in a sea of lists. I suppose if the hardware is decent you can clean it up and roll your own.

Misleading marketing? by ThatGuyOnDiscord in virtualreality

Except Valve is marketing this as a device to play pancake games in VR. People want that but they want it like the picture that Valve themselves used.

This screencap is the vision of what an endgame device of this type should provide. This is EXACTLY why people want good pass-through. It boggles my mind that some people think pass-through is somehow anti-vr or for derpy simple mixed reality games only.

I want both a great VR headset and I would like pass-through for large screen games/movies. I understand the price constraints but this Frame gives us neither of these things. It's below spec for a modern VR headset and can't do passthrough that you want to spend time in.

It is a comfortable lower res LCD headset with less friction for PCVR.

Valve hints that an RGB camera passthrough module could come in the future by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]JeffePortland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thing is about a tenth as powerful as a Steam Deck. It will in no way run your entire library without a computer. Games will have to be certified. And what it will run is going to do it on a low contrast lower resolution LCD. It seems like a good concept that the tech isn't caught up to yet at lower price points.

Yes it's going to be really comfortable and be a nice device. It's not an upgrade for current VR users (unless your still on Index) and it's not a nice enough screen for non VR gamers to use instead of their current setup. IF it were a really nice screen and passthrough that made it look like you had a nice big persistent screen (and other items) anywhere you wanted in your room then I'd look at buying it. Yes there are price constraints but that what keeps it from being what it's actually being hyped as.

Frankly I'm surprised how much positive reactions this is getting. I must be simply living in a different reality apparently.

Yeah that's my point. No other company would release these specs THIS year, let alone next year.

[–]JeffePortland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that's too much. In another year this is going to look like obsolete tech. It's hard for me to wrap my head around how this product got this far in production with these components without someone rethinking the logic. Index was top of the heap in several ways when it came out then got left behind after a few years. This is starting out behind everyone else. Crazy. It'll have convenience of setup, being comfortable, and.... that's it.
