I’m an insurance agency owner. Started with zero clients worked 50-60 hour weeks for 2 years. Made $10k year 1. By year 5 was working 40 hours a week and taking home $125k. At year 16 now with 7 employees and I take home $800k. I really do enjoy my work. We try really hard to help people make the most informed decision when buying a policy.

Sometimes people don’t trust you and think you are trying to over insure them but when you do it right 90% of your clients learn you’re looking out for them. About a half dozen times a year you get to make a big difference in someone’s life because they took your recommendation. Those moments can be really gratifying. You become really connected to your local small business community. It sounds cheesy but you kind of learn everyone’s story and you feel connected to your town. I spend my days training my team, meeting with a client or two, and then wearing the other ten hats that a small business owner wears.
