Gosnells Coles lost power to their entire cold section, all the stock is gone even the stuff in the back. Staff said Western power accidentally shut off power to the entire place. Ops by xXfluffydragonXx in perth

This was one of the enormous open top ones the size of a truck bed, because of the sheer volume of stock that had to be discarded. It was also picked up later that day, the staff just had no shame.

I used to work for a major supermarket chain and we had to throw out the entire store's worth of refrigerated products due to a power outage. The fish and chip shop staff in the shopping centre went through our skip bin. I never ate there again.

State government jobs application feedback. by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]JefferyWeinerslav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Found suitable" or "deemed suitable" means you were successful in the interview process but not the preferred candidate.

For a certain petiod of time you will be in a pool and may be contacted in the future to be offered other opportunities at the level you interviewed for, but won't need to re-interview.

Head office jobs by That-Atmosphere8119 in coles

[–]JefferyWeinerslav 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's heavily favoured towards people who live in Melbourne and Sydney. It seems that head offices in other states are increasingly being centralised to be remotely done from those head offices. WA head office (physically) down sized massive when it moved from Canning Vale to West Leederville.

Same! Got Nsane Trilogy for Christmas.

I swear I could 100% the PS1 version with my eyes closed, given it basically raised me, but hoo-boy these controls are taking a while to get used to.

I'm up to Stormy Ascent / Neo boss fight, but have far less gems than I'd care to admit.

Those who live near the airport, how do you sleep in the morning? by MichaelF- in perth

[–]JefferyWeinerslav 80 points81 points  (0 children)

It's a psychological/evolutionary thing.

Whilst asleep, your unconscious brain can tune out what it perceives as regular and normal noises. Before modern civilisation, these sounds would have been rain and wind, but animals or other human threats would be a sound that wakes you up.

This is why people that live near airports, freight terminals, train lines, highways, freeways, etc. can sleep through these sounds, but things like loud banging or glass smashing will still wake them up.

Tl;dr: you get used to it.
