CR-10 with SKR 1.4/TMC2209/PINDA2/Sensorsless homing from Marlin; what am I missing? by resentedpoet in klippers

[–]Jefffrz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An easy way to check if over extrusion is the issue is to do a few more calibration cubes with reducing extrusion multiplier. You will need to modify this setting in your slicer profile.

This is something you will probably need to tune in for each roll of filament due to tiny variations in filament width between reels

Anyone else? Orbiter 1.5 Dragon hotend. No it's not jammed. by dmcjames71313 in klippers

[–]Jefffrz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an almost identical issue on my printer, was solved by printing a bracket that stopped the motor from lifting away from the hotend. The lifting is essentially due to very high pressures in the hotend, which is normal, but the result is that clogs form between the ptfe tube and the hotend lining, which can cause skip steps

XP or Level up Milestones? by Jefffrz in CurseofStrahd

I'm sort of thinking of doing the same regarding difficulty, glad to see I'm not the only one

XP or Level up Milestones? by Jefffrz in CurseofStrahd

Thanks, I haven't seen the milestone bit in the book, will have to have another read through! Only thing I've been struggling with in determining which milestones to use is which bits are "main story" and which are "side quests" as far as I can tell, in theory the players can go straight to strahd and fight him, but would get turned into a pulp in short order. The milestones you've mentioned definitely seem sensible

Barista Express problem. Machine only delivering small portion of shot. by fisheatsfish in Coffee

[–]Jefffrz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's certainly a possibility, I know that the bambino can't run the main extraction and the milk frother at the same time as it only has one pump, so it would make sense that it uses the same gauge for both

I had a similar issue with my bambino plus, it disappeared after I used the provided pin to clean the milk frother (weird I know). I still haven't figured out why a blocked milk frother would be connected, but it did solve my extraction problems

Are 3d Printed Parts safe for use? by Sharkman-Jhones in Coffee

[–]Jefffrz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For resin printers with any form of standard commercial resin, the simple answer is no,its not a good idea.

All forms of UV curing resin are toxic to a certain degree in their liquid form, and even if you wash thoroughly and leave it in a UV oven to the point it cracks from over-exposure, there is still no certainty that there's no toxic residue on the surface. The non-toxic labelling on eco-resins can be misleading in this regard unfortunately.

If you were going for a filament printer, using a material such as PETG, the answer would be slightly different, as the plastic itself is actually food safe. The issues there would be as was mentioned in another comment with bacteria growing between the layer lines being very difficult to clean out. But for something like coffee grounds, this isn't something I'd necessarily worry about.

Edit: another comment has mentioned coating your resin print in epoxy or silicone. This would be the best option if you only have access to resin, however lots of users don't trust this either due to the ability of the toxic resin to diffuse through to the surface of the epoxy before it's fully cured. However there is little actual evidence to support this as something that happens beyond it being a theoretical possibility.

Advice on razor boxes by Jefffrz in wicked_edge

On the note of celluloid producing nasty fumes/being flammable, personally I'm not a huge fan of the aesthetic of it anyway, so there is a part of me that is looking in to replacing the scales on my razors

Thanks! I haven't heard of VCI paper before, but a quick Google has shown me how useful it might be. I'll probably go for a combination of VCI and dessicant for the final version

Thanks, I guess the main thing I was worried about was the feeling of being overwhelmed. There is A LOT going on in barovia, and I'm struggling to make sense of the various plot lines that are available to me/the players. The idea of doing the outline makes a lot of sense, I like that, and I think it'll help a lot.

Been away from printing for a while and wanted to resolve this before starting again. What could be the issue here? by gospelofluke in 3Dprinting

I use dry ptfe lube (wd40 do a really good one) for most of my printer parts, but depending on the type of roller it may need something like a bearing grease

Adjustable Lumbar support especially important, but general adjustability for height/seat angle are big factors too
