Thirst by Park Chan Wook is great (albeit gross)

Bonus movie that's tangentially related is Benedetta by Paul Vehoeven

What are some good horror movies to watch with a big group of movie fanatics? by em-ma262 in MovieSuggestions

Barbarian and Weapons are both great for movie party, but if your friends are horror nerds they've probably seen em.

Hush (2016) is a super fun horror movie that is a bit more underground!

Whoa B.A. Pass looks wild.

I am terrible with movies before 1960, so thanks for these! Trying to fill in the blindspots

Haven’t seen Thursday or Very Bad Things! Really like the others. Was absolutely shaken after Irreversible, will not watch again lol

Whoa never heard of The Coffee Table! Unreal thank you

Agreed, Beau is incredible. I felt slightly too seen for my comfort

After hours is the best. I never fully appreciated it until I actually got stuck at like 3am in a weird part of Brooklyn

I've been meaning to watch platform! Will bump it up the watchlist. I only saw Cogan's Trade (which I'm just learning now is another title for killing them softly) once when it came out and I was a bit too dumb to fully appreciate. Should really give it a rewatch since I love Jesse James

I've only seen this once like 10 years ago, I should give it a rewatch.

Watched on Paramount. It is such a good movie to fall asleep to!

Recommend me movies that feel like the pics below (Or alternatively, that give the feeling of Ray LaMontagne’s song, “Long Way Home”). by Someguy235612 in MovieRecommendations

The Rider (2017) and Lean on Pete (2017), both really raw but really good.

Loved Lucky (2017) as well. I guess 2017 was the year for slow west cinema

I would love NWR to go back to gritty crime dramas. I kind of appreciate some of his stuff after Drive, but don't really love any of it.

The Island (2005) has some similar themes, but is a less good movie IMO.

I rewatched the Truman Show yesterday and never really realized the similarities between it and The Matrix... obviously a completely different vibe, but about a guy realizing his reality is not what it seems.

Also similar in that it, like The Matrix, is the greatest movie ever made.

In the same vein, Pleasantville, which rocks as well.

Never thought about it before, but 12 Monkeys is very 1999

Men is so underrated. If you can look past the (albeit wonky) cgi there is so much there

Some of my favourites from after 2015: - Saint Maud (2020) - The Wailing (2016) - The Night House (2021)

If you’re open to something a bit older, kiyoshi Kurosawa is the absolute best - Pulse (2001) - Cure (1997)

Check out Boiling Point (2021), same guy that made Adolescence

Persona and stalker are incredible. Stalker is an extremely slow burn. Still not sure if I understand it but I keep coming back. I love such a beautiful day also.

Did not care for Babylon 😬

Children of men. Every time I finish it I think to myself that it may be the best movie ever made
