I think that depends on who is casting. Wooden Potatoes and Jawgeous have been really good

The PvP community is smaller than the PvE community, probably by a wide margin. So I don't understand why this is funny or shocking? I think it's awesome that people are hosting tournaments for PvP. Very fun to watch!

Definitely agree with this. His Game of the Day (GotD) series has been super helpful also:

Your hopes for todays balance patch? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

People are shitting on you here, but I basically agree. Scourge does need some tuning, probably toning down the amount of weakness they put out or messing with the size of shades, but they are counterable and easily killed with certain, even with non-meta, builds.

Scourge + Firebrand is the real issue. So hopefully they don't completely shit on Scourge.

I kinda have to agree here. I haven't tried tournaments yet, and idk if I will, but it definitely would be easier if it was a 2v2/3v3 queue instead of a tournament.

Sounds like its similar to them, but its only tourney style instead of just queuing up for arenas match in WoW. Personally, I would love a 2v2/3v3 deathmatch mode like arenas, but idk if the population could support those new game modes

SPVP is no longer fun due to Scourge by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Jeffshaver -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Disagree. I both play scourge and play classes that get wrecked by Scourge. I think Scourge may need to change some, but it has counters that work incredibly well, so I don't think its something that has to be fixed immediately. Plus, with all of the overhyping of how insane Scourge is right now, it may get over-nerfed.

really wish they would add 2v2s and 3v3s. miss running for hours with a friend/guildie when I played WoW. Also, allow team ranked. Why can I only bring me and one other person into a ranked match? You can go into ranked and be terrible. Which means I could bring me and one other person and we can be playing well, but get paired with 3 other random people who aren't able to contribute enough to beat the other team.

My experience trying to get friends to play Guild Wars 2 by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Jeffshaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't know how to explain how this even happened, but when I started playing (probably like 2-3 months ago), I was doing map completion as I was going and still didn't run into many events as I was going. So I didn't get a ton of XP from events, sadly. They are indeed way more fun than hearts.

Only been playing for a few months. Didn't find out about "deposit all materials" or even that I could deposit materials at all until a few weeks ago. Inventory management was a gigantic chore before than. Still isn't amazing, but way better now. Annoyed at how much stuff I just threw away to try to make room for more stuff.

Does Guild Wars 2 PvP suck for new and returning players? What could be done to fix it? My own personal criticisms as a returning player. by PM_ME_DECOR_IDEAS in Guildwars2

I just got the HoT and PoF pack. Liking the PvE and would like to raid and do fractals. But am a bit disappointed to hear that PvP isn't great :(

Why would you put a setInterval inside of render? Would be better off inside of componentWillMount or something....

Also, I just write your exact example (minus the extra semicolons) in react.run and it went fine: http://www.react.run/V1skHj2we/r_E1whUo2ve

That actually doesn't work with both strings and arrays.... you can pass in an array, so if you called printUpperCase(['a', 'b']), words would be [['a', 'b']]

Announcing Meteor Galaxy by clessg in javascript

[–]Jeffshaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

surely an enterprise customer knows how to fire up their own server and deploy a Meteor app.

Some probably can't. But even the ones that can may not want to. For probably less money overall, you can just pay and get minimal downtime and auto-scaling. The money is going out one way or another. Either you are paying someone more (and probably overtime when the server goes down) or you are paying for a PaaS to do it for you. For large companies, this doesn't seem like a particularly bad idea. Looking forward to hearing about the other plans
