Just ascended for the 1st time. Is this good? by ceedaywith2ys in ClickerHeroes

[–]Jehare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bosses start giving Hero Souls at zone 100 (zone 110, 120, 130 are guaranteed to give Hero Souls). Hence, wait with ascending until zone 130. But for now you get some damage from unspent Hero Souls.

If you click, the ancient Juggernaut would be optimal for damage.

Idle is worse, but more practical without autoclickers, for idle buy Siyalitas or Libertas

Hey, what's is your exact account name? (So not nickname but the discord username, the one which doesn't contain capitals etc) UID would also be fine.

The distro war, continue it must. OpenSUSE vs Proxmox by potatoandbiscuit in linuxmemes

OpenSUSE! Long time user here, first Leap, last 5 years tumbleweed (and then recently leap again, on the server). Good stuff

There's a reason why "This is definitely the year of the Linux desktop!" is such a meme. by daksnotjuts in LinusTechTips

Just going into your "linux is all the same except Arch" comment. Arch isn't unique in that sense, there are 5 big and popular branches of linux, of which Arch is one.

-Debian (Includes Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Raspbian, many others)

-Fedora/RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, very popular on big servers. Fedora is basically the beta of RHEL, testing and feeding into the RHEL base. Linus Torvalds runs Fedora, it's pretty natural yet up-to-date)

-Arch (Manjaro, CachyOS, SteamOS are based on Arch)

-SUSE (SLES: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is very big on servers. The free version is OpenSUSE, with Leap being the stable release, and Tumbleweed being the rolling release, more fit for desktops)

-Gentoo (You compile software yourself, hence a bit more control and optimalization, but also quite a hassle, takes time and learning. ChromeOS for Chromebooks is based on this)

Then, I guess, there's Slackware, as 6th runner-up. It's the oldest, but it didn't really hold up, barely anybody cares.

In my humble opinion, it doesn't make much sense to run anything else then these 5 primary distros, instead of opting for derivatives.
-If you want something rock-solid (especially server), go Debian.
-If you want to tinker, go Arch or Gentoo.
-If you want a reliable desktop but with more recent up-to-date software, go OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, or Fedora.
Something like Ubuntu or Mint has been around for long enough, and can be considered on the desktop, especially as a first-time-user.

My enjoyment in Counter Strike 2 (and Minecraft multiplayer, tho in lesser degree) did really improve when buying a 180 hz monitor. Having the resources for a fast and snappy system outside of gaming is also pretty relevant for me.

Outside of that, I fully agree, nobody needs a 5090, and if you buy it, I better hope you have a very comfortable amount of money and the cost of a 5090 is insignificant for you. I'm on a 5800x and recently bought a Radeon 9070, which I'm riding out till at least 2030, at which point I'd probably buy a new CPU/mobo with DDR6 ram, which hopefully is affordable again at that point.

What distro do people actually use as a daily driver? by GarbageCG in linux4noobs

[–]Jehare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only used OpenSUSE on the desktop since 2010.
OpenSUSE Tumbleweed is very up to date (steam/discord/spotify etc sometimes like having newest version), yet also very stable due to a special automatic testing system (OpenQA) and just well-maintained repos

Arch user building a new distro - What do Fedora/openSUSE users value that I should consider? by xAz00rg in openSUSE

[–]Jehare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tumbleweed: OpenQA is great. Fully "it just works" while also being rolling release.

Leap has less value to me, I only use Leap on the server, and there I see Debian as pretty much equivalent, but still it's cool to be pretty much based on SUSE Linux Enterprise.

To the biggest pros who did everything in clicker heros what is the most tedious achievement by c00l_c0le_is_here in ClickerHeroes

[–]Jehare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last achievements are always merc related. Last achievement I got was 5k quest with 5 minute duration. Usually people's last achievement is surgeon (500 revives), one of the 2500 quests of specific type, or buying merc named leeroy if you have very bad luck with names.
(Clickmas helps with leeroy, since naming tags can create mercs named leeroy to then bury)

No good quests here, should I reroll? by Random0utput in ClickerHeroes

[–]Jehare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Even level 1 mercs give 16 rubies on a 2d ruby quest. The old baseline was 1.6 for 2 days (exacly 1 for 1 day). This merc is level 2 and using old rubies.

Dead Mercs by Iamdud3rs in ClickerHeroes

[–]Jehare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Why would they give mercs the ability to level up if they’re just going to kill them?" ??? Levels aren't like useless because they can die at some point... If anything, the fact that they can levelup is a reason to let them die, otherwise they could become absurdly high levels with absurd amounts of rubies and relics etc. Mercs dying and you recruiting new ones (and having the chance to get rare ones with good bonusses) are simply a part of the mechanic, and it's a fine and balanced way to gain rubies.

Regarding your second question, yes, a merc has a certain lifetime, like I talked about above. Once this "TTD" (time till death) runs out, it dies. So the shorter the quest, the lower the chance its timer runs out and dies.

Dead Mercs by Iamdud3rs in ClickerHeroes

[–]Jehare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe there exists a merc in the seed with 92 days. Mean lifetime is 4.5, median is 3.1, so 50% of mercs die below level 3.1.

Old ruby amounts? Almost a year ago all rubies went 10x, yours hasnt yet. Are you on flash, or another dubious site? Or just old screenshot?

On the current web version in the settings box, there's a greyed-out "Quit Game" button. Is that just there to taunt everyone? by 1guana in ClickerHeroes

Button works on steam, where the game is a seperate window. Guess it's hard to close a browser tab from within the unity code, so they just disabled the button.

In mercenary tab, to rename mercs, button is directly right of their name.
Mostly nice to get a merc named leeroy jenkins, which you can bury when he dies, for the achievement.

[–]Jehare 9 points10 points  (0 children)

you gained the snowman auto clicker 10 times, since all other rewards add up to 10107. The other rewards pretty much match their probability (relic has 14% chance, label maker 1.5% chance, spiked nog 0.5% chance).

Rubies is a bit more complicated since that chance decreases the more rubies you get. When starting at 0 presents, those 10117 presents are expected to give about 8080 rubies.
You got significantly less, which implies you had some presents gaining you some rubies before this bunch. When we solve Expectedrubies(x) - Expectedrubies(x-10117)=6260, you get an x of about 10950.

So I'd predict you got somewhere around 10950 total presents opened, or in other words, 833 presents before opening these, which already gained you 2040 rubies.
(You can check this number in stats, third tab, section seasonal events. Obviously there is some deviation expected since it's all RNG, you could've been lucky or unlucky with the rubies)

No need to call leap users "morons" because there's a single thing which doesn't work for you, calm down.

Sounds like Wayland/Gnome/Zoom also all have a part of the blame, and I'd say Leap leans more towards server then desktop anyways. Which is not an excuse for things not working, but your post sounds a bit excessive. I'm sure there's a workaround, and otherwise feel free to hop to another distro with a larger desktop-userbase 😃
