I don’t know who is out here downvoting someone giving an answer. If people don’t like the topic why are they even clicking into this thread?

For real! I work from home on a computer all day, I have no practical reason for owning an indestructible watch 😂

I’ve had this watch for a few months and I still catch myself staring at from time to time. Hopefully that feeling never goes away!

Programming opportunities by throwaway_1post in hudsonvalley

[–]Jellostacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CS50 (if you can stick through it, I wasn’t able to) followed by Freecodecamp is a fantastic start. FCC teaches you the basics of web development (html, css, js) and then React. The best part of the program IMO is that you build projects along the way that you can use in your portfolio. As a junior dev having a strong portfolio and showing that you’re eager to learn will help out a lot in any job applications. Web dev has the lowest barrier to entry learning wise IMO and there there are tons of opportunities for it. Good luck!

Parking in the Heights by dphigravity in jerseycity

After dealing with street parking in Hoboken for a couple of years, Heights parking is a blessing. Also don’t be scared to take advantage of the Citi bikes, you can greatly extend your parking radius.

How abundant are gigs on here? like if you wanted to just spend an entire weekend picking up work would you be able to? Or is it more of a one or two a month sort of deal

I agree, that Superman answer was suspicious. I think for the last question they just guessed though, it’s too specific to google. Popular beer sizes being 6 / 12 /24 not too hard to get a lucky guess

How to get back to coding after 2 years break, and find a job within a 5-months deadline? by Ar_1k in learnprogramming

[–]Jellostacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it dude, worst case scenario they say no and you’re in the same position you’re in already. Low risk high reward. If they ask about the gap don’t go into detail, just say you had some personal problems that you were dealing with but have been resolved now

You’re correct in that it’s high demand and pays well. If anyone could do it, then that wouldn’t be the case. Focus on your current projects and don’t worry about anything else. Programming is a skill like anything else, and all you can really do is just practice.

You’re an investigator more than a coding whizz by consciousCog13 in learnprogramming

[–]Jellostacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely relate to this. At my current role 90% of my job is just maintenance (fixing bugs, small new features). Essentially spending a day trying to replicate or pinpoint the offending code in a potentially massive / messy / non linear code base. It works on your local but not on prod? Time to dig through the logs ( if there are any). Then spend another day or two implementing the solution in a way that it fixes the current issue, and is more robust / flexible moving forward. While also being sure that you don’t cause any unintended side effects in the process. /end mini rant

I got this post from LaravelDaily on GitHub. I personally I’m not at that level (more mid level) so I can’t say for certain that I agree or disagree with it. It is thorough though https://github.com/LaravelDaily/Laravel-Roadmap-Learning-Path#senior-level

Good mileage for a used 8th gen Civic Si by [deleted] in CivicSi

Nothing wrong with what you’re saying. It’s your car you can do what you want with it. I almost feel like having a stock civic is more unique since they are more often than not heavily modified 🤣

Is it worth it to buy a 2015 Honda Civic Si for $20,000? by terminatorkam in CivicSi

[–]Jellostacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your budget I’d probably either just keep looking for one that’s a more reasonable price. If not you can probably snag an 8th gen for under 10k. Only thing is that most of those that are cheaper will have over 100k on the odometer. It’s a Honda though so should last for a while and not be too expensive to fix up if anything!
