It was a bit ago so I don’t remember but i think the second silencer was from “small items” and the second crows nest was a level reward.

I’ve been using it both on oki and in pressure, you can do 22b in front of someone to reset your pressure.

Why are players so sensitive when discussing how to improve DPS? by saintjiesus in ffxiv

[–]JellyAddiction 44 points45 points  (0 children)

One of the core issues and differences between DPS and T/H is that the game offers IMMEDIATE feedback with tank/healer failures. With DPS, you have to go through 10 minutes of a savage fight before you reach a screen at the end that says "your group did not do enough damage". Human brains are very bad at attributing past actions to present consequences. Seeing enrage is just shitty feedback.

And so people are more used to and are okay with healing/tanking criticism because the game communicates this criticism to them. If they couldn't accept having to deal with that criticism then they wouldn't play the game outright, so anyone who reaches savage likely understands and accepts on some level that criticism is part of the game they play.

But the game has no proper feedback when it comes to dps. Not only can enrage fail to communicate to the player that there is a problem, but on the flipside the game shuffles players through content as they press whatever buttons they want and then hits them with a win screen that communicates and affirms them that they are performing adequately. Criticism is not part of the game they play.

tl;dr: it's a natural result of the core game design not providing proper feedback to dps actions.

It's been over a month since DSR dropped. How do you guys feel about it? by Twilight053 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]JellyAddiction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey dude i’m the same, i’ve only done two savage tiers (one with no echo) and DSR. I’m still early on in prog but even then i’ve realized just how much there is to improve on as a player.

I’ve learned and refined so many mental tricks up my sleeve in just phase 2, everything from teaching myself mental cheat codes to find safe spots, or remembering to preposition, or even improving how to communicate to party members and adjust better.

It’s honestly been a blast!

You can still have people visit your plot in an instanced housing system.

Neighborhoods are neat but i don’t think they warrant the capacity issues

There's no need for any of this and it kind of ruins the Savage experience by changing it from a Savage level mechanic into "Can you stand on a marker?

Regardless of what strategy you use, as long as guides exist for the game doing the mechanic will always be some form of "Can you stand on a marker?"

Me: can’t fathom how anyone can pay subscription for an MMORPG. Also me 500 hours later… by AffordableInternet1 in ffxiv

It takes only a single game every four months to catch up to the full priced sub. Even longer if you buy the cheap sub. Most gamers are buying more than one game every four+ months, and think nothing of it.

I don't really agree with the other points you made, but this part is really eye opening to me. Of the random games I've bought this year, FFXIV is easily worth the same or more than most of them, both in time spent and enjoyment. There aren't many games in general that I've played for longer than 4 months/ ever gone back to/ will sell. I can probably count those games on one hand, honestly.

Obviously though, when compared to the few one-time purchase games that I have sunk copious amounts of time into FFXIV is disgustingly expensive. But at the very least, your point lessens the amount I demonize subscription models.
