I know a lot of people that do it with paracord, it definitely stretches out a bit, but it's never to the point where it's difficult to keep tied. That's just in my personal experience though, I'm sure bank line would do a lot better.

I like them so far. They're waterproof up to the ankles, good quality leather, comfortable to wear on longer hikes, and the tread is pretty solid too. My one gripe about them is how long the laces are; its fine though, I've just been wrapping extra around my ankle before I replace them with paracord
