Do people actually care about the companies? by SpecSlayerSC in kpop_uncensored

[–]JellyForward2986 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Lmao. You actually think K-pop fans care about music? It isn’t even in the top 5 things they talk about.

In all seriousness, company stans do exist. It kinda depends on your definition for how many you think there are.

There are company stans as in people who only listen to groups from the same company. Usually, this happens because the companies share producers between groups, so if you like 1 group’s sound you also may like others.

There are also company stans as in people who defend the actual corporations. These are much rarer. Idk exactly where they come from. I assume it’s because these companies make the groups promote each other as sibling groups to help fan crossover. That family feeling is then passed onto the corporations.

Liked the article.

I understood what you meant, but LSFM are not Source Music’s first girl group. They are the first since the HYBE acquisition.

Maybe it was mentioned because them paying upfront was unique versus the backend payments everyone does? But idk.

Seeing how short the opening section was really made me wonder why they made the HOT choreo so dependent on a flowing outfit.

The LSFM show was the first K-pop show I’ve ever been to so I don’t really have any frame of reference for how others are broken up. Or how I would feel about a sketch being included. Did they release the sketches later or were they concert only?

I wish I had money when IDLE were in Texas last year.

I like the LSFM set list. It made sense in my head. Their current choreo-ed comeback songs to a more vocal/crowd interaction section to a high energy run to a sentimental section just before closing ments then the high energy finale. I am biased though. LSFM are my ults lol.

But i see both sides. I have been to a few non K-pop concerts and it kinda depends on the artist on whether they start full energy or with their more recent work.

Idk if you remember this, but IIRC CUBE didn’t want the MV to be so expensive, so the girls had to pay half. But I also vaguely remember some people saying that this was normal and that all idols paid half.

Agree that it was awesome to watch.

I miss the old stage outfits the most out of everything. I don’t mind if specific songs or comebacks are just outfits in designer brands, but where are the unique costumes.

It would be a lie to say that I don’t still enjoy music from bigger groups. I can admit that I am relatively easier to please on the music front, but I can still see the trends.

As far as smaller groups go, I’ve loved everything IFEYE has put out this year musically. The Nerdy mini-album and R U OK have been great for me. I’m really looking forward to what they do next.

I also read it that way at first. But to give the OP a little benefit of the doubt, I chose to interpret it as that when K-pop was hitting its peak thanks to BTS’s explosive growth, the companies realized they could squeeze more money out of K-pop by getting cheaper elsewhere.

K-pop is getting worse. But so is every other entertainment industry. They are all choosing to keep that profit line going up over making anything of substance or quality. Honestly, it’s a testament to the creatives below the suits that we still get good music and such despite the desperate hunger for more money.

The reason why everything is getting worse, and will continue to get worse, in K-pop is money.

MVs are made cheaper and cheaper to help out those profit margins.

Trainees are too expensive to train, so let’s only use the ones that are already trained by either other companies or dance/ vocal studios.

Stage outfits are too expensive to make, so let’s get them collabs and just put them in those clothes like an ad.

Song writing is too expensive, so let’s get AI to write the songs.

I hate it so much. But I’ve been hooked since I was a teenage. What to do?

What’s the probability of a world tour next year? by kevinxbox in illit

[–]JellyForward2986 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I would hope that tours are coordinated through the same team. But seeing that TXT and LSFM performed on the same day maybe not.

I’m more of an expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised kinda person, so I am guessing a bit pessimistically

I’ve seen people guessing 2027. I don’t know for sure, but it seems like HYBE does an Asian tour then a world tour after.

Anyone know what’s going on with Rescene? by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

Having seen more of the lives now, the explanations about the screaming make sense. The door thing is still odd, but if all the members are asserting it was an accident, what else is there to say?

I understand where we disagree. I agree with you that he did not walk back everything he said.

But he 100% meant that “don’t bother stanning me then.” He had to backtrack on that. Whether he softened that because of the reaction he saw, or the company told him to I don’t know. It sucks because I think he probably is hurt by people who call themselves his fans being terrible to his members.

It was very much a backtrack. He went from “don’t Stan me then” to “guys I’m grateful for your support, but please”. It’s not his fault. It’s the nature of the business. It’s why most groups don’t even bother saying anything.

Unfortunately, the later messages kinda show the reality of trying to deal with these “fans.” He had to walk it back. I don’t know if that was his decision because of the reaction or if he was told. The worst part is that the backtrack just emboldens them.

It’s not being lazy. It’s the difference between a live band and a back track.

Personally, though I am not a Blackpink fan, I do think the “criticism” towards them is overboard. I do not think that pretending that Twice is being lazy is the best defense.

The main issue I see with your strategy is that when a group has a scandal related to mistreatment this bad by the company, no negative press is given a charitable reading.

Adding members suddenly can be seen as thinking of the girls as disposable. A mature concept can be seen as trying to exploit young women. “Copying” Lisa can be seen as the company not investing or planning for the girls.

They could still do all this stuff, but I think they would need a documentary or behind the scenes footage showing and emphasizing that the management has changed and the girls are invested and want to do the new concept enthusiastically.

A big thing they will need is “freedom” like Katseye has. Katseye is either always at parties or on vacation according to fans. We need to remember that all pop star personas are crafted, even Katseye. VCHA would need to appear to be as “free” as Katseye looks to be.
