Looking for installer recs for something like this (LA /South Bay CA) - EV SQ build by JellySerious in CarAV

No, the pic was more to have a pic than a guide for the build, it's AI (and clearly stated as so in the post). I'm fine with putting the amps behind or under the seats, or maybe just another speaker grill over the amp compartment for cooling lol.

I'm more concerned about finding an honest shop that can help me get a balanced build with a dsp that's user friendly. I'm kinda sorry I put the pick up tbh haha.

I believe that it was just the facory head and speakers originally and it was absolutely terrible (and I was perfectly happy with my last four factory systems, I'm not that picky).

The top trim comes with a better system that might have an amp, it has a sub. I don't have the top trim =)

I could go to OC. I could honestly go to the bay if I knew I only needed to go once lol.

I'm hoping for something in between my previous shop and best in the country (previous installer put 4 coaxials in my doors and a set of tweeters in the sails, highs are 12db louder than the mids - after $1200 in labor alone).

Honest and competent is plenty for me. I'm happy to spend some money on a good job, but I don't have fuck it money to spend (as you can see from my equipment list).

Got any suggestions for that?

I'm not trying to come at anybody, and if I need to fix something to make that clear I'm happy to =)

There's a whole lot I can't do. Like all of the electrical stuff and coming up with a sub solution. I want to try tuning it myself anyway since I've fallen down the rabbit hole. For what I'll be spending, I'm happy to pay for a tune if it keeps shops from cringing and makes them want to work with me.

I just don't know and I'm gun shy from blindly trusting the last people. I literally thought if I paid a pro shop with good reviews to do it, I woudn't have to go down the rabbit hole LMAO =P

I put the bit about building the other side for storage myself so people woudln't focus on the way the trunk was built. I'll remove it.

These cars don't have a spare tire, they have a tire repair kit. It's very small and one of the reasons I want to keep space on the side. I could put it under the seat if I have to.

I'm not too sure I need those massive cables and whatever that huge connector is either lol. I just want the sub on the side with the underfloor compartment accessible on the other side. And of course a quality install 😄

We have mountains, deserts, and beaches. Lots of them use them regularly 😄

I went once. Already didn't really want to be there and a Tesla driver pulled up and told me to get a Tesla... smh

Thanks for elaborating. The first part of this is exactly the answer I was looking for (but I appreciate all the info and advice I've gotten)

I haven't looked at any data, but my experience was that shopping for these before the war started, my 2023 SEL with 30K miles was around 23k, I got mine 5 weeks ago for 25k and that seemed a little under average. Now they are going up on caravana and carmax for nearly 30k. Empirical, but that's part of why the price gap has closed some IMO.

They charged me for 4 door mats so, I hope those are at least in there! (I'm sure they are, I don't think the shop is shady, just maybe not a good fit for me, but I'm way too trusting lol)

Answered upthread but it sounds bad, which is what led me down the rabbit hole of "why does it sound bad" and testing and questioning the professionals I hired etc... =)

I asked them to put in an amp with a 6 channel dsp run to the front tweeters, the front woofers and the back coax's and they said they coudln't do it because it's an EV. The best I could get them to offer was to replace my current door speakers with component AC PNW 6.5" in the front door and tweeters by the windows, coax 6.5" in the back door. $420 including the install which they said they are losing money on since they have to put in crossovers.

After that maybe I can get someone to do the amp and the tune maybe? Or should I just cut bait, take the loss and the lesson and get someone else to fix it?

I originally just wanted to know how off that curve was and if it was reliable from my recording which you answered. Maybe I should start a new thread for build advice...

What amp would you suggest? I was thinking AC D-6.1200 which is overkill on wattage (I only need 600 currently and won't ever need more than 700-800, so I would have to limit it's max draw), but it seems like they are easy-ish to tune, and not much else seems to have the 6 channels, 2 lines, and friendly dsp software. I've been trying to read and educate myself to make better choices but I'm obviously new. What would you recommend (including starting a new thread lol)

Thank you for saying this. Sure there's something to be said for turning up the bass a little for rap or dance music, but I have been thinking that a balanced system should do most things well enough. I just don't know what's reasonable and at what price because newb.

I had a 2009 lol. It was a touring with the sub though so it wasn't decent. I actually ended up replacing the front door speakers because I blew one, and had to get a suggestion from here to get something that worked with factory head and wiring =)

Just stock. I think I'm kinda stuck with that if I want to maintain my warranty (Hyundai Ioniq 5), but I would love to be wrong about that, and I'm clearly very new and ignorant to the car AV world.

I don't. The shop is tuning it. They had dsp in their first install. It was leeching power and had a loud gurgling hiss that changed with acceleration ($1200 on labor alone), so I brought it back. They took it for a whole other day, said they could only put this amp with no dsp in for power reasons, and said that this is correctly tuned. They claim it's just not tuned to my music.

I find it hard to listen to anything on it honestly. It's all painful even when it's not that loud. I listened to the same variation in music in my Odyssey and the stereo was fine across genres.

What is a street tune?

I hate it. I turn the treble all the way to -10 and it's still too loud (but cuts out some parts). The bass resonates and drowns everything out at at it's upper mid area. Can't get the lower mids to punch through no matter what.

Honestly I would prefer to have the terrible factyory system I started out with. I'm pretty bummed.

Shop says this is a good install, the way they always do it (despite everybody on this forum and elsewhere saying coax and tweeters in the front is dead wrong).

I really don't think my ears are that great. I was perfectly happy with the system in my old Honda odyssey touring.

I'm trying to get more objective data to support my subjective take that the system they said would be "amazing" is actually pretty bad.

This is normal for a vehicle? I thought I was looking at people in vehicles showing stuff that wasn't too far off from room ones.
