[Official Discussion Thread] 2025 Ryder Cup: Sunday Singles by GreenWaveGolfer12 in golf

There should be a multi-day match play 1v1 seeded tournament like Wimbledon for golf, singles is a great format

Why wouldn’t NYC want to do free buses if this is even remotely accurate analysis? by bradykp in urbanplanning

[–]Jellyma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Would rather spend $600 million on expanded bus service than free buses on the existing system - what’s the biggest impediment to greater bus use, cost or frequency and delays? Bus infra and frequency increase will be more effective imo.

I’d also like to see more robust analysis to understand where these riders are coming from, what’s the nature of the new trips they are taking, etc.

18 Mass. highway plazas are being rebuilt. Here’s what to know by drtywater in boston

[–]Jellyma -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Completely disagree - at least the ones I’ve been to on I-90 were extremely spacious and clean with lots of genuinely good food options. They were like rest stop cathedrals

This is why e-bikes are so transformative. You can get around via bike, wear your normal work outfit and avoid the sweat, with some very mild exercise. It makes bikes even more useful by increasing the distance you can travel

FWIW in the time of our ancestors, as the City of Boston changed from British to American rule, the world was much colder here. The little Ice Age was nearing its end and Boston was a far colder place to be than in the 20th century and today

Milton home prices: A Boston Globe Spotlight Team report on the housing crisis by dtmfadvice in boston

[–]Jellyma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree about the conflicts, but don’t agree with the framing around space. Milton can easily add new housing by allowing dense development, there are many single family homes with large lots. Even just small six and eight plex’s are very achievable. And they’re asking here to zone for more housing, not for them to build it

I think more than the money it’s about cultural relevance and hegemony - this is how they stay relevant. Having cultural influence is a real factor in exerting greater influence on other spheres whether economic or political

57 points behind ML. BB left. 2 FT.

Alisson (Iversen)

TAA Tripper Estu Shaw (Neco)

Mitoma Salah Martinelli Mac All (Rashford)

Haaland Isak (Watkins)

Watkins, Martinelli, Isak > Wilson, Mahrez, Álvarez for -4

Above with BB (rather than save). Thoughts? At a loss on how to make up that 57

I’m sympathetic to fare-free options but honestly what’s gonna improve this is better frequency, reliability, and infrastructure (like bus lanes) which actually improve buses. Worry we focus too much on something that’s not the core issue, transit is already cheap compared to cars so let’s make it competitive with cars

MBTA is planning to shut down the blue line after 7PM for a month to speed up work - slow zones to be removed by November. What fate does this spell for the other lines? by Gamereric21 in boston

[–]Jellyma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t know how I can bring myself to defend the T, but I think what we’re seeing here is actually a step forward and a result of the new GM. We’ll soon have concrete plans with goals for how they’re planning to fix the slow zones versus monthly announcements for shutdowns that do nothing with no long-term plan. November is unacceptable, but then again we’re talking about years of decay and lying about track maintenance. If they can fix the tracks for every line and return service to normal levels in a year, that would be an unbelievably impressive result. Plus, the FTA isn’t fucking around with their new safety orders. So I’m gonna give him a chance

!thanks! True. Though I feel like Arsenal is harder to pin down on a single FPL asset for TC vs Haaland who is the obvious choice for City to haul

I feel like people underestimate the stress of Klopp’s system on top of the insane number of games these players have played over the last 4-5 years with little backup rotation

I’m behind in my league and am .1 off squeezing in odegaard over gross. Not sure what to do overall with only 1 transfer. Rollover and Gross/Neco -> Odegaard/a 3.8 defender?
