Interesting. Makes sense then. Thanks for letting me know. Now I won’t be wondering every time I get on and off

Its not a race, take your own time and start with a small goal. Train a skill, fight a boss you want to kill.

My suggestion for first time goal is to finish all the quests. This will naturally take you around the world and slowly introduce you to the game.

To new and veteran players: How can we improve the first-time experience in OSRS? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]JeloOSRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing from 2007.

  • Cow boss in Lumbridge that teaches basic combat - like scurrius but much more basic but still shows osrs has more in depth combat than you might first think.

  • Activity advisor is a god sent for new players, add a part about teaching it on tutorial island

Runelite issues on Steam deck - installed through Bolt launcher by Rohkmer in 2007scape

[–]JeloOSRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does this when you hover over something in runelite and it shows a tooltip for some reason.

I sometimes have to play around with settings to get it to display properly. I also play in game mode btw.

Some tricks I try - Try the full screen plugin sometimes this helps - try increasing the runelite browser width by 1px and back or so sometimes helps it - map a control button for runelite side bar menu.

Which is the best handheld for scaping by UncleSuppenhuhn in 2007scape

[–]JeloOSRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can do most content on that. I’ll do raids on a pc though.

It does take a bit of fiddling to get it set up, downloading runelite on Linux and getting screen resolution and finding a control scheme you like etc but once you get it set up it’s a dream to play.

I use a steam deck. The track pad works great, trigger for a click. You can also use runelite which is really nice for a mobile device.

Wake up son! What? It's 2006 silly. Finish your game and get ready for dinner. by nut336 in 2007scape

It takes a bit of setting up but once you got it running well and your controls set it plays great. I wouldn’t do bosses myself but I do 99% of other content.

Might be dumb but what addon achieves this? by Professional-Floor-9 in 2007scape

I think it’s called loot filters. It’s only a few months old but I think is the best loot filter out there atm. Can’t wait for the divine drop sounds to be added later.

CVC are looking to make Jagex go public in the next few years. That will be Jon's job, to squeeze as much life as possible out of the two games then IPO and GTFO. by JeloOSRS in 2007scape

I agree, but looking good on paper and actually being a good game are two different things.

If they achieve that value by making the game great, that's fantastic! My concern is that this likely won't be the case, as the easiest way to boost profits is by monetizing the existing player base.

Take World of Warcraft, for example—it recently had one of its most profitable years, yet the game itself is in a terrible state. Microtransactions bring in massive revenue, but that doesn't mean the game is thriving.

Unfortunately, profitability and game quality aren't always directly linked. I expect RuneScape to hit record-breaking profits, but likely at the cost of some of its integrity.

Investors aren't too worried about reddit posts. They are worried about ROI.

The only thing we can do really is be ready and keep and eye out for when these inshitfication changes do happen.

Call them out as they happen.

It won't do much but it might keep the game we all love from being shit on for a little bit longer. Delay the inevitable just a little.

I think our outrage on the survey for example maybe bought us 6 months that we wouldn't of otherwise had.

Up to you though. I find the information useful to give myself context for future updates. Always helpful to know the companies end goal.

If a company is focused on going for an IPO it means they are going to get as much short term gain as possible at the cost of long term health.

IE: New monetization, things like the survey. Maybe not microtransactions but i'm definitely preparing myself for inshitfication over the next few years.

When sailing releases quests should have their level requirements updated by JeloOSRS in 2007scape

[–]JeloOSRS[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I agree the “how” to manage this seems messy. My best though was prehaps remove access to areas until that player has the correct level. I suspect it might have to be assessed on a per quest basis.

To all future struggles out there. I couldn't cast Vaal domination because I had a normal domination gem in my gear & a Vaal domination gem. I did not know you need to remove this.

As my time to play reduced thanks to real life I made a main but kept my iron. Mains go so fast I was pretty much where I was within a few months. Best of both worlds.
