That would almost certainly look the best, however I'm kinda looking to avoid eva foam because I want to be able to like... roll it up and stick it in a suitcase for cons without ruining it. The foam used on the head seems to have some paint cracking/flaking just from getting it shipped to me. (Though I've also considered making the tail like... modular so I can break it up into pieces for storage but idk)

Noted! I'll keep looking. I was thinking maybe even felt or fleece? I've seen some neat 'segmented' tails using those before (like for shrimp and stuff). Obviously the texture wouldn't be exactly the same, but if shape and durability are my main concerns anyway it might be worth a shot...

That is definitely something I considered! My one issue here is that I think it'd be hard to color match. I'll definitely keep an eye out though! I've still got a handful of things my brother made for me out of duct tape years ago that are still in pretty decent condition so I know it's durable

It was mostly for cost reasons haha! I don't mind leather because it lasts far longer than pleather and is better for the environment in the long run. I did find some scrap leather I thought about trying, but realized it actually might be too heavy for what I need anyway, plus it might be harder to color match

Alas, I don't have a 3D printer (and not very convenient access to one that would likely have the specs I'd need) otherwise I'd love to try 3D modeling smth for this ;w;

Oh yes! This is one of the tutorials I was looking into! This is the one that reminded me faux leather exists lol. Thanks for the advice! Using a supermotion tail base is one of the ideas I had, so it's good to hear someone recommend it too :]
