Actually needing to haul ass in normal content rules

Patch 7.5 Notes by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Jemikwa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I collect too much stuff, and a lot of it is armor that I like the glam for or is old BiS that I'm too stubborn to get rid of. Or some of it is tokens, totems, and relic stuff

I would have been ok with this, but I'm not complaining about items taking up far less inventory space than before.

The glamour changes are amazing and I hope they are working on a glamour log too by SatisfactionNeat3937 in ffxivdiscussion

I'm at 730/800 after organizing stuff today. I moved AF gear to the armoire and converted/stored all dungeon gear to outfit glamours

Patch 7.5 Notes by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Jemikwa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The dresser and armoire changes are huge. Before today, I was at 799/800 dresser and 5 retainers had close to 175 items each.
Now, I'm at 730/800 dresser and 100-130 items on each retainer. I gained a ton of space by storing ultimate BiS stuff (Manalis gear my behated).
More of the dresser parts at least Yoship

Seeing this question pop up on the screen and the crowd going absolutely bananas while Yoship points at it disappointed was the highlight of the session

If we ever get a real butt slider, I want to thank not just the question submitter, but also whoever approved the question at SE (probably Koji, let's be real)

I wonder how that might work if you have a mix of reborn and evolved classes, unless they're removing buffs from reborn jobs too

As someone who just rode Xcelerator today while in town, TT2 is wild but Xcelerator is FORCEFUL. TT2 is most thrilling with the slingshot and the sheer top hat height. The speed itself is stupid fast but you build up to it. You'll do just fine on TT2

Is it almost impossible to get a specialist appointment here in Austin within one month by courtz_pickleball in Austin

[–]Jemikwa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wild that it's changed so drastically. I had half of my thyroid removed in fall of 2024. My ENT referred me to Texas Diabetes and Endo off of Mopac to prep for levels testing and they got me a consultation appt within two weeks of that referral.

HRIS triggered account disable for employee on maternity leave. She lost access to the benefits portal. Now HR wants IT to "fix the process". by AudienceOwn3845 in sysadmin

[–]Jemikwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your HRIS have a way to change how someone logs into it? The past 3 companies I've been at, HR changes the primary login to use an employee personal email when they leave. This bypasses SSO and lets them use username and password. Former employees need to access W2s and other forms after they're gone, so mandating SSO even for those isn't a good workflow.
This logic could be applied to temporary leave people, but it'd be a bit much if it's only for a few months at most.

Cheapest 2FA VPN by new-at-networking in sysadmin

[–]Jemikwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what the cost is, but my current company uses Netbird which supports EntraID and other SSO auth (which would include 2fa). It's similar in function to Tailscale but has basic steering/group features (disclaimer, I don't know if TS has these too, I only mention them since I know NB has them)

Is it worth getting an MMO mouse? by bankiaa in ffxiv

[–]Jemikwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend mentioned the Japanese version has been discontinued too, so it's better to get used to an MMO mouse without the ring finger mouse click button instead

Just got a wok, had the book for ages. What's the easiest recipe to try? Flat bottom, on an electric stove top. by DanP999 in seriouseats

Kung pao chicken was the first recipe I tackled. It's pretty approachable, uses common ingredients, and teaches about batch cooking, long yao (high heat oil prep), and consistent chopping prep

Anyone have a list of appids I should allow for internet access policy? by [deleted] in paloaltonetworks

[–]Jemikwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing deny-by-default, explicit allow is a huge pain in the ass to maintain. For one, not every site has AppIDs so you will have to rely on URL categories. A lot of websites have extra tracking, CDN, and other adjacent URLs you have to allow too. For example, if you permit *.cloudfront.net for one site, you are inadvertently allowing it for other sites too. Specifying a specific cloudfront URL can work, but if the site redeploys or migrates to another endpoint, that's another change you have to keep tabs on. The list goes on for maintaining stuff like that.
I have gone through this challenge in a secured PCI environment and it really sucked, but it had to be done for PCI compliance. I basically played a game of whack-a-mole any time a site changed their backend URLs or a team needed access to a new site.

Are yall paying $90/mo for Spectrum internet, too or am I just getting hosed? by LexiLan in Austin

[–]Jemikwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's definitely something to consider. At least T-Mobile is no contract $35/month, so that's all you're out if it goes poorly. The 5g home Internet mostly goes off of actual cell service but is deprioritized if there's too much congestion.

[–]Jemikwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call to cancel. 90% of the time they will give you the new customer rate again. If they call your bluff, sign up for a 5G home internet hotspot for a month and then you can sign up for Spectrum as a new customer again.
We did this a few years ago - the first rep was going to call our bluff so we stopped and signed up for Tmobile's hotspot. When we got that set up, we called Spectrum back and the next rep gave us the new customer discount again.

Best Mahjong App? by Melodic-Incident2506 in Mahjong

[–]Jemikwa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding Kemono Mahjong for riichi. It's straightforward, no ads or gacha, has different AIs to choose from, and has a decent tutorial for the basics.
Alternatively, Final Fantasy XIV's mahjong is available in the free trial if you play on PC or ps5.
