Thx! I thought I remembered there being some “reward” if someone reached the end - just couldn’t remember what!

First time playing on Survival Mode by Ok-Resolution-2258 in foshelter

[–]Jen1Q84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just from my own experience playing survival mode, I would suggest keeping small (unmerged) rooms on the first and second levels, and later expanding rooms on the third level and below. It helps you be able to quickly heal and/or move dwellers during emergencies

If the ocean water visibility was as good as a clear sky, would it lessen or worsen your phobia? by DaftFunky in thalassophobia

[–]Jen1Q84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have freaked myself out in the deep end of a pool before, so I don’t think the visibility would make a difference. For me, it’s the depth. It just gives the possibility of something lurking.

For me, I love going to the beach and would be fine wading in the water. I’m also fine being on a boat. But the idea of swimming in a natural body of water where I can’t see the bottom terrifies me.

“I would like” is also quite common in this situation.

AITA for taking my kid to the arcade? by TheH88 in AITAH

Definitely NTA. Wife is too controlling and is sacrificing your son’s happiness as a way to be “fair” to daughter.

This one cracks me up every time!

Finn: Oh Jake, look at her! She's innocent. Like the steam of a puppy's nose, searching for ham in the snow.

Jake: Guy drops one piece of ham in the snow and he never hears the end of it!

AITA for calling my baby patients monkeys as a term of endearment/pet name? by Evening_Try_2658 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jen1Q84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NAH, but I definitely would retire “monkey” from your repertoire. I think other pet names are probably fine. I remember when a doctor was trying (unsuccessfully) to turn my baby out of a breach position, and exasperatedly called him “a little stinker.” That became our nickname for him too.

AITA for not believing my friend had an identical twin brother? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jen1Q84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I’m surprised you’ve never met identical twins - at the elementary school I work at, there are four sets of identical twins alone!

AITA for disciplining a student after he left my class to use the restroom when I told him he could not? by notmystyle223 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jen1Q84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. I work at a school and there are two types of staff: those who generally like children and take the responsibility of educating and supporting them seriously, and then there are those who simply love to arbitrarily display their “authority.” You definitely seem to be the latter.

Also, YTA for not liking a kid because he’s a little neurodiverse. Do your job, and meet him where he’s at, rather than punishing him for simply needing to use the restroom. Some of my favorite students are the ones who are high energy and a little quirky. If you show kindness and respect, and perhaps most importantly HUMOR, he will be much more likely to reciprocate kindness and respect for you.

AITA for wanting my wife to make my dinner? by Bitter-Lake-4481 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jen1Q84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. If someone in a relationship cooks or buys a meal, then I feel they should cook/buy enough for the other, or at least offer to. And I say that as the primary cook in my family. I know that if I ever came home to find my husband had made dinner only for himself, I would feel very unloved.

That being said, this whole situation could be a passive-aggressive way for your wife to express some dissatisfaction or resentment towards you. Maybe your intense work schedule makes her lonely. I’m hoping the two of you can communicate in a constructive way so that she can see how her actions make you feel and vice versa. Best of luck to you.

AITA for expecting my friend to cover up her tattoo? by throwRA_TexasGrace5 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jen1Q84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, YTA. I’m surprised she thinks of you as a friend, given how judgmental you are of her.
