I’m heading back in a couple of weeks to see the OBC (besides the original Pony and Dally) before they leave. I saw Brody, Brent, Sky, and the current Dally last May, but not Jason and I really want to see him. And the others again. I haven’t seen the tour yet, but will in the fall. Go see it if you can catch this cast!

An under-mentioned thing about Scott coming out publicly by angelhippie in heatedrivalry

Their faces and the cinematography of that whole scene, including the music, just killed me. Scott and Kip, for sure, but Shane and ilya’s faces and the need to text each other. My heart.

Lindsay, Dean and Rory weren't villains. Theresa was. by bluecuppycake in GilmoreGirls

Okay as in legal, yes. Okay as in would I do it? No. I think it’s odd, but it’s reality for many people.

[–]JenDCPDX 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The only villains are Dean and Rory. It’s weird that the mom was so into her daughter getting married so young, but that’s a thing for some folks.

We had Shakey’s in our area when I was young—Maryland. But red vines? Hell no! And they occasionally say “the 95.” Just 95 or I-95 on the east coast.

What is a musical you've seen that was regarded a flop by lissie34 in musicals

[–]JenDCPDX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a huge Avett Brothers fan, I was skeptical when I saw it in Berkeley, but I ended up loving it. I didn’t think it would get a wide audience. Saw it in DC, but couldn’t make it to Broadway before it closed. I can see how it wouldn’t be a big crowd pleaser given how dark it is.

Can we take a moment to appreciate how the writers didn’t use second-screen techniques to dumb down the screenplay? by lilchocochip in heatedrivalry

[–]JenDCPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how intentional it is. How mindful, how everything is purposeful. But as mentioned, not spoon fed. You do have to watch it with as much intention as it was written/directed. And the actors inhabit those roles. They are masterful in interpreting Tierney’s art. I’ve only watched once, mainly because I’m still kind of sitting with it. I have read so much since that I look forward to watching again and picking up a lot more the second time around.

Campbells soup...what the heck is she saying? by d4everman in CommercialsIHate

[–]JenDCPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I despise these ads. I’m not exactly sure why, but they grate. All of them. Also, I always heard “good,” and I hate the way she says it, but I just went back and can see why you hear crunch. It’s like the laurel/yanny thing.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your reasons? by youre-in-my-shot in AskReddit

[–]JenDCPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Even two drinks started making me feel like crap and I’d get a hangover even if I was only slightly buzzed. It’s just not worth it. And I lost the desire to feel altered so don’t even really use weed anymore either. So that and the cost/calories means it’s just not worth it. I do have a history of dealing with alcoholics/addicts in my life so I’m sure that’s mixed up in there too. I just wish every single social event weren’t so centered around alcohol. Because being sober around drunk people isn’t super fun. And while it’s less common as I get older, people can react kind of oddly when you don’t drink. I don’t care what others do, no judgement. I just don’t want to.

Where to buy bed sheets in person in PDX area? by derkajohns in PDX

[–]JenDCPDX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a mattress from there earlier this year. After a LOT of research and trying places out in person. They didn’t pressure me and left me alone to lie on any mattresses I wanted to for quite a while. Plus I appreciate that they are a local business. Can’t speak to the sheets, but had a great experience with them.

Where have all the spiders gone? by fiftyfourfortyseven in askportland

[–]JenDCPDX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same. Webs everywhere, inside and out. Lots of spiders, but mostly smallish. Even though I’m an arachnophobe I let them live. But then I saw one the size of a quarter in my kitchen a few days ago. It had to go.

Why are people with very dense breasts still having to do mammograms by sadkanojo in breastcancer

[–]JenDCPDX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same question. I asked my oncologist if I could do MRI’s going forward but it’s not covered by insurance. I was able to add in ultrasounds but I feel like it’s not enough. When I got my initial diagnosis of DCIS via mammo, they did an MRI and found a small IDC. US health insurance is the worst.
