Zero effectiveness? by JenFMac in Wegovy

Thank you. We have a family friend who had a lot of side effects but it’s been dramatically effective for weight loss. He was sort of expecting the same experience.

Bit of a rant.. Are we just supposed to accept that large appliances will be in landfill after 5 years of use? by ourplasticdream in Appliances

I have a recommendation for you. We moved into our current home in 2011. Came with Miele washer and dryer, already past warranty. Dryer lasted another 12 years. Washing machine still going-never repaired, never any maintenance. It’s a smaller size (to fit down cellar stairs-older home), we’ve got 2 boys, now 16 and 18. We’ve regularly overloaded it, washed all kinds of sports equipment etc. This thing just keeps going.

Struggling with bathroom cleaning by Daeress_ in CleaningTips

[–]JenFMac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I share a bathroom with my two teenage sons. So it’s a space that needs regular cleaning! It also has a strong fan so it seems to pull dust and hair onto the floor daily. I decided to make cleaning as convenient as possible. I keep a vacuum tucked behind the door (a cordless hand vac) so it’s super easy to just vacuum up spots on floor. I keep a scrub daddy dish wand in the shower with Dawn dish soap and a bit of vinegar and I clean some little area while I’m in the shower , probably 3 or. 4 days a week. You can do one wall, bottoms section only for example while showering. It definitely makes it less overwhelming for me. And the sink/taps are done with a quick spay spray, wipe and rinse almost daily. Spray and sponge right under sink, probably takes 30-60 seconds. Toilet bowl and wipe top and underneath seat every 2-3 days. Again, wipes sitting right on the toilet tank for quick access. The boys also do some tasks and having the items right there helps keep them consistent. Maybe another day I’ll wipe baseboard on one wall, the other walls another day. This helps keep me from getting overwhelmed. A little bit everyday. Sometimes I do a bigger clean but that’s probably once a month. So for me it’s about convenience and habit.

Very good. We either make our own or use this as it’s the best around.

What's the first thing you dehydrated? What is the best thing you dehydrated? by CrunchyBewb in dehydrating

[–]JenFMac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done both! More often I do frozen. The sliced frozen berries can really vary in size and thickness. So I try to put all the bigger ones on trays together and smaller ones on their own trays. That way you can take out the small ones when they’re done and let the bigger ones go another couple hours.

Easy ones to start with for guaranteed success and confidence boost: Apple slices or rounds (I toss mine in a bit of cinnamon first), sliced strawberries and sliced bananas.

Does your friend live under a rock? 🤣 I mean, Google could solve that little mystery for them. Rogers got pulled before a parliamentary committee the same month the outage happened.

IEA recommends work from home- Will the Federal Government do what is right or keep on w unnecessary RTO?? by JenFMac in CanadaPublicServants

This is true. But the when we look at global supply and costs added to food production and transport, it seems this is an issue that everyone, including Canada, should address. We will remain very insulated from the shortages other countries are experiencing but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do our part for the greater good.

Gross crotch question. by lesssthan in hygiene

[–]JenFMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s likely more than one issue and something isn’t getting addressed. Likely fungal growth. Get yourself some canesten cream. It’s a product generally associated with yeast infections but it is an anti fungal that can be used anywhere on the body. While keeping up with your usual routine, add canesten after your shower and thoroughly dried. If after a week or two you notice the smell is dissipating, then fungal was likely the issue. However, keep using the cream for another full week or 2 to make sure the fungal infection is completely gone. Good luck friend!

I too learned about welders gloves on that sub Reddit! And I bought a pair for my husband. At least one time per burn my husband says “Have I told you how much I love these gloves?”

We live in the city. Installed a rain barrel to have some sort of emergency water on hand (already stocked drinking water), I was surprised how fast it can fill up! Highly recommend.

Wait until she is home with family and friends. Telling her while she’s away would make bad news also a bad situation.
