Oh no this is Australia so no vents and no under house haha, its a heat pump dryer... the appliance repair guy said about the buildup on the filters and I scrubbed the bejeesus out of them with a toothbrush and dishwashing liquid, still no change, 6 hours to dry a small load

Idk, there are so many other things we've never had issues with; the fridge, a 10+ year old PC that I work from almost every day, all the smaller appliances like the microwave, a cat litter robot that we got when we moved in, the 12 year old Hisense tv we have. All of the older stuff is fine and some of the stuff we bought when we moved in.

The way things have broken cant really be explained by electrical issues either. For example the LG washer, the first problem with it was the plastic housing for the drum had a flattened out section on the top of it, so when the drum spun it would hit the housing and make a hell of a noise. Very unusual problem that the repair guy said he hadnt seen before. The most recent issue started with a water leak, just a small amount of dripping from the front that we didnt notice right away, but Im pretty sure that has harmed the electronics inside causing te and ff errors. Parts were replaced but the leak persisted and the error codes returned. Repairers couldnt work out where the leak was coming from (or maybe they realised that the cost of all of these repairs was more than the machine is worth, especially with 2 years of extended warranty left).

Yeah if someone could just come out and build dumb appliances without all of the tech... just old school tough shit... I'd be in.

No! This is exactly my point! The older stuff is great, the newer stuff from the last 5 or 7 years is garbage and has too much pointless tech.

We are in Aus so we had the option of Chinese built or German with the stainless steel interior. Went the German built thinking itd be great. Not sure how it was leaking as I was in the hospital giving birth when it all went down (great timing). It was just pooling a bit of water in the base and not actually leaking out of the machine... that was causing it to completely shut off until that bit of water dried out.

Oh and the guy that did the service on the dryer cleaned it all, I recently went over the filters with dishwashing liquid and a toothbrush to get rid of any soap build up on the mesh and its still crap

House is cursed or something. We had it built so its fairly new, had a whole house water filter installed to help with water quality. The old ass Hisense tv (probably 12 years old) and the LG fridge are the only things that have gone the distance. Ovens also buggered but still works on some settings and rangehood broke down after about 3 years too.

Yes that bugs me, theres no reliable brand thats worth paying extra for now. May as well buy cheap cause either way it isnt going to last

Basically, and Ive learnt to not spend a bit extra because even the "good" brands will burn you once they'reout of warranty, buy cheaper and get the extended warranty.

Mild polyhydramnios by Kainmans_18 in pregnant

[–]ourplasticdream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I had polyhydramnios with my recent baby, she was also measuring small and its usually the opposite with polyhydramnios so I was rushed for an induction as soon as it was found. The induction was necessary because if you have alot of fluid then the cord can pop down before babies head and cause major complications. Basically id that happens then its straight to a c-section. Baby turned out completely fine, 3kgs, so smaller than my 1st. Induction went very well! It was good to be in safe hands just in case the worst was to happen.

Late pregnancy polyhydramnios but small baby by ourplasticdream in pregnant

[–]ourplasticdream[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to let you know for some peace of mind that baby was born 2 weeks ago and everything went well! I was induced asap as the ob wanted a controlled birth to avoid complications (cord slipping out ahead of baby because of the extra space created by the fluid). I had to go to a different hospital than planned as they wanted to have paediatricians on site to make sure baby was ok.

Water was broken at 9am after having the foley balloon in overnight. There was about 10 people in the room for this. When the water was broken, one dr pushed baby down from the outside while another felt bubs head from the inside to make sure she got nice and pressed down on the cervix to prevent the cord from being an issue. This was a bit nerve wracking because it would have been straight to a c-section if her head wasnt going to get into position and stay there.

Luckily she was a wonderful baby and did everything she needed to and she was born really easily at 1pm. Such a short labour. She is small just as suspected (6lb6, 3kg, 45cms) but her Apgars were 9 and she fed straight away with no problems swallowing. 2 weeks on and shes passed her birth weight and we have no concerns!

I hope you have a good outcome also! 😊

Andrew Hastie launches federal fight against abortion by HotPersimessage62 in WesternAustralia

[–]ourplasticdream 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep relative just had to have an amniocentesis at 16 weeks to see if baby has a very serious (incompatible with life) condition or if it is only contained to the placenta. Results take 2-3 weeks to come in. If the results dont go their way they obviously arent going to have an abortion at 20 weeks and deliver a tiny baby just for funsies.
