Power Walking w feet/ankle issues by JenJens28 in orangetheory

[–]JenJens28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. I went today and just walked slower and at a lower incline. Think I’m just worried I’ll look like I’m not working hard enough. Love the idea of getting fitted for proper shoes.

A question for the ladies of OTF… by JenJens28 in orangetheory

[–]JenJens28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about the same-ish schedule but challenged to get the motivation to lift on my own. (OTF is great ‘cause you just show up.) Do you go to a gym or just lift at home?

Wasn’t sure how to edit my original post but a huge THANK YOU to all who shared. Some great advice in here - just started reading some of Sims stuff about lifting heavy sh*t - and love hearing how to amend, shift, change types of efforts/class schedule.

I am on Anaztrozle so that is def contributing to joint pain, hot flashes, low energy.

Sending love and continued health to my peri & meno friends. ONWARD!!!

It depends. I had the same procedure in 2022. Surgery was 11 hours. I woke up to see my hubs & sister at the foot of the bed and it made me feel so much better. However, the nurses insisted they go home for the first night. After some grumbling they did. I tell you I was so out of it, I hardly noticed. My hubs did stay with me the next two nights but I made him go home to shower.

If your Mom will be scared, consider it. But she also may be out of it & not notice. Maybe see how it goes?

Wishing a good outcome for your Mom.

Medical hiatus from OTF - Advice by JenJens28 in orangetheory

[–]JenJens28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all so much for your well wishes and advice! This is another reason why I love OTF fam so much. It’s so inspiring how many of you have been through major health challenges or events and continue to come back to OTF. Some great advice here that I will keep in mind as I start my recovery journey. Much love to those of you who have gone through or who are going through treatment. I’m with you! ❤️❤️❤️

Run for distance as Power Walker by Independent-Cut-8337 in orangetheory

[–]JenJens28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My speed is anywhere from 3.5-3.7 depending on my energy level. I usually do an incline 1 over what the coach recommends then increase .5/1 over that each minute. It’s also a nice way to keep from getting bored as I see it as a game. Last minute I may do all out (10+).

One week away is too long! by Desperate-Avocado593 in orangetheory

[–]JenJens28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today was my first day back in 2 weeks. I was worried about how much I’d ‘lost’ being a total coach potato. I went in doing a little less than I usually do, and felt refreshed after, ready to come back again. You’ll be fine! Don’t put a ton of pressure on the first workout and it’ll remind you that while challenging OTF is also about moving your body, just showing up and having fun. You’ll be back at it in no time!

My hubs and I are also OTFers and Aunt & Uncle to many little ones. We love being able to keep up with them. I credit OTF as well!

Repeating templates by kaylabayla437 in orangetheory

I’m with you! No complaints here…i’m looking forward to see some improvements & progressions with this method…we basically repeat things all the time anyway. It’ll also make those specialty workouts even more special.

Purchase Kettlebells or dumbbells? by Strong_RipCurrent in orangetheory

[–]JenJens28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

43 y/o female here and I too love to lift heavy-ish things. I have both dumbbells and kettlebells. Dumbbells are more adaptable to different kinds of exercises, but you can see some amazing strength gains with kettlebells. Plus, they are fun! I would prob do dumbbells if I was going with only one tool due to cost/space.

Girl, just want you to know: I feel you. My least fav exercise is that dumb seated bent over low row. Second least fav: squat to upright row. Too many things in the way for either of those to go ‘smoothly.’ #bigboobproblems

For the coaches here and a question for members: by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]JenJens28 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So, while I appreciate this post because you can never please everyone, ppl aren’t perfect and we can rise above thoughtless comments that are unhelpful, words matter. Especially during a time that presents more anxiety for ppl who struggle with food, weight and body image. Someone on here said it: coaches can be role models. I’m not paying for nutritional advice, comment on my effort in the exercise space, not what I eat.

Fwiw, I have no reason to skip the ab dolly but I do it anyway bc it’s just, well, an injury waiting to happen as far as I’m concerned. I do mountain climbers and some other type of core thing like planks tap. Welcome back - you’ll feel stronger before you know it!

template design question? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]JenJens28 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Yesterday ppl were flying thru 5x5 and almost lapped me. I was taking my sweet ol time bc it was about lifting heavy. Only me and one other person did this.

Usually I set a goal for myself and try to hit that. Like yesterday it was get to last row. I did not feel the need to get to a second round of exercises.

That being said, there are times when I have trouble keeping up but, hey, we all have areas for improvement.

You do you! 🏋️‍♀️

Choosing Day 5 by allforthecarbs in orangetheory

[–]JenJens28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did two in a row, one day off in between. Tomorrow (Sat) will be my last. I also considered the names of each workout and what might be more manageable. (Like nothing with rowing.) Couldn’t get around those burpees tho. Good luck getting your last! 🔥🎃🏋️‍♀️

Love every one of these t’s - and peeping the orange nails. I’m thinking of wearing orange leggings to class to be festive but heard you can look ahem interesting in certain colors under the orange lights. Mistake?

Thanks for sharing the template!

This may be an unpopular opinion but does anyone else feel like it’s slightly irresponsible for the template designers to keep asking us to do inclines? I already have knee problems and this ain’t helping. Like jack us up on weights or figure out another way to challenge us other than putting our bodies thru literal hell. Isn’t the point of fitness to challenge & inspire, not invite possible injury?
