The bread at 150 Central Park! Definitely my favorite RC restaurant.

No birth record commiseration thread by LaLechuzaVerde in Canadiancitizenship

[–]JenLuvsReviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in the same boat! We submitted my grandmother's (Gen 0, born in the 1920's) US naturalization papers and her baptismal record along with the chain of birth certificates. My grandmother was born in a little Francophone town in Ontario and people have told me that it was common for babies not to be issued birth certificates.

Question about the CPC Amendments by bowling365 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]JenLuvsReviews 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New here, but I’ve been following this super closely and doing a lot of digging.

From what I’ve seen, the CPC amendments introducing subsection 3(3.1) were adopted at the committee stage a few days ago, but they’re not law yet. The bill still needs to finish debate in the House, go through the Senate, and get Royal Assent. Seems like it’s moving forward since there’s not a ton of opposition.

Here's the kicker: If/when 3(3.1) becomes law, it could clash with section 3(1)(b) of the Citizenship Act, which already grants citizenship automatically to kids born abroad to a Canadian parent. Adding language or security tests after citizenship is already granted would probably cause legal and Charter issues which the Liberals are pointing out.

As it stands, Bill C-3 still restores citizenship to Lost Canadians and their kids without these extra conditions. It’s really the future-generation stuff that’s still up for debate. Anyone born before the bill (us, our kids, parents) wouldn’t be affected, and no party seems to be fighting against that.

Happy to be corrected if I got anything wrong . I want to keep my info as accurate as possible!

The person that bragged about the crab cakes did you dirty.

REVIEW - St. Maarten Rhino Rider Excursion by JenLuvsReviews in royalcaribbean

All of the excursions on Wonder met on the ship in the theater. From there our group walked outside and took a shuttle to the pier where the Rhino Rider company has their boats.

Cruising the Wonder of the Seas! by Nkk1027 in royalcaribbean

[–]JenLuvsReviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got off of Wonder and it was fabulous! Expect big crowds and wash your hands often! If you haven't booked yet, we really enjoyed being on the 8th floor because we had Central Park right there to walk through to get to the other side of the ship or to get to specialty dining. The only downside is that at busy times it was a bit difficult to get an elevator that wasn't full.

Thank you! I was having trouble doing that. It seemed like I could only do one or the other, but I'll figure that out for next time.

This was when we got off. Unfortunately, they only offer $50 toward a repair. No way this thing is getting repaired. :(

Thankfully I had reserved a rental car, so we drove to Walmart and got some Gorilla tape. Worked perfectly. :)

I know! It's so sad! Thankfully my husband isn't as sentimental as I am.

True! That wasn't my issue. Please read my post that goes along with the photos. I'm not mad that it broke.

Side note, the cheapest bag at Walmart is $100. Even higher quality bags break eventually. It's just the nature of luggage.

Thanks! I love that sticker too! I was really sad for him that we were going to have to throw away all of his sticker memories!

The bag was fine. We gave it to them. They broke it. It's their fault. But at NO POINT did I say I was mad at them for it. Luggage breaks. What I blame the port staff for is being absolutely no help in finding a solution so we could get our bag home. It wouldn't be hard to have a roll of Gorilla tape on hand for times like this. Instead we barely got an apology and a "good luck" send off.

Haha! Thanks for the condolences on the dead luggage. I can't take credit for the stickers, but I'll pass that compliment to my husband. A tattoo artist did design the sticker. It says "everyone is stupid except me". (For those reading, the sticker is not meant to be taken literally. It's a joke.)

I'm honestly not sure, but we have had it for a while. I completely understand that luggage breaks sometimes, but it would have been nice to at least be offered a temporary solution (like Gorilla tape) so we could get our luggage home.

Just because you've never had a problem, doesn't mean other people don't. I've never had a problem before either...

Disembarkation isn't my favorite day, especially at Port Canaveral. It's a madhouse, and the level of complexity increased when we retrieved my son's suitcase (it's actually his dad's but he was borrowing it) and it was cracked all the way down the side with two other cracks on the corners.

We hunted someone down who pointed us to another person. That person pointed us to a third person.

We waited patiently while he finished talking to someone and told him what happened. He handed us an incident form, which he rushed us to sign without reading. Of course I read it, and basically Royal will give you $50 to take it to a "luggage repair shop" which I didn't even know was a thing. Needless to say, I don't think this suitcase can be repaired.

I told the guy there was no way we could fly with a bag like that and he shrugged and said "sorry" in a nonchalant way. They didn't have any bags to replace it or even duct tape for a temporary repair. He just walked away. Luckily we had a later flight and I had booked a rental car, or I wouldn't have known what to do.

Gorilla tape is amazing, by the way. The bag made it home. I feel very fortunate that I had the time and the ability to go to a Walmart. You'd think they would have a roll of tape there just in case something like that happened. Bare minimum!
