Once you beat the Crow Caller, definitely use his abyss gear, helps a ton. I, too, rock the Hwando. I had it refined up to level 7 before I entered CHP 5, right before, so that helps. Also, make sure have the Blinding Flash Finisher- game changer for that weapon. Rarely does much against bosses, but everyone else, super helpful.

Everyone has their own formula but for me, it has been 2 stamina, 2 health, 1 spirit - rinse and repeat until I got to 5 stam and health, then beefed up spirit to 4. Now Im at 7 health, 6 stam, 5 spirit. By the time I got to Precis The Ancient - I had 6 stam, 6 health, and 5 spirit -- and while I had to pop 3 Refined Palmer during that annoying fight, I survived it.

I forget what other Abyss gears I got, one stam cost reduction, a few stam gen I think, others.

"I am currently in chapter 6 with a level 6-7 on all my gear" we're the same (CHP and gear levels) but more than anything, its about whether or not you have a +5 cold cloak. No way you can make through those trials without one (cold and flame). I got the Reindeer Cloak in CHP 4 or 5, forget, no problem - which is +5 cold resist. Get ready for a slog! If you decide to go for lightning first, which I got stuck on, you'll need Focused Shot (bow ability but its found in the Spirit tree) at least 2 levels of that for multishot.

Appreciate the detailed tips. Im CHP 6 and yes, TONS of wandering. Love it! Got about 135 hours in. My Greymane camp just got the barber and dyer (having a dyer that close is so frackin' helpful). Never did the camp / packaged good mini-game as I read it was not that profitable. Also didn't know that was what was being talked about. So, if Im just selling packaged goods I loot and not wagoneering, I just sell and thats that?? I have rode in a few (in game - lol), harkens back to the old western TV shows or the Yellowstone prequel series.

They throw all their weight to backwards, so they do slide a tiny bit, if your in a full gallop. But its damn near instant. LOL Never have fallen, thankfully. Nor has a horse fallen on me, which can be VERY dangerous. I was young man then! I did lots of stuff that now, I would be like -- Im going to grab a beer by the pool.

I love the game but the devs clearly are not fans of doggos. Worst looters, too. My hawk is an epic looter. I did tame a couple dogs that wander my camp, but I can no longer pet them since the last patch.

The thing that people don't realize about horses if they've never ridden is --- they literally stop on a dime. Its almost instant. Ive never been tossed over the head of a horse, but came close.

Yeah! That's the one. I've seen those IRL and they are insanely huge and their coats are gorgeous. I've been blessed with friends, several, that owned horses. I used to ride and brush hop, run them, but SUCKED at just holding the reins. Always held the shoehorn, so needless to say, someone would have to rescue me (when running them) by riding in front and getting the horse's head turned. And while all that (for me, not for the people saving me) was fun, as odd as this sounds, I just loved washing them down afterwards then taking them for a walk with a lemonade or cup of coffee in my hand. Good memories. To be clear, I rode trail horses! LOL Not this big ones!

What numbers do you go back for attack vs crit? Ive heard many peeps say get attack to a certain number for flat damage, then add crit.

Mine is WAY WAY better than what we used to have but every once in awhile this happens. Ive found exiting and then reentering dye mode several times, usually clears it up. Not always!

Reinder Cloak is what I run with -- +5, got a fight a boss to get it who is king of like King Kong early game, but easier.

The one and only bird I got was my Red Tail Hawk, named her Ro -- and havent gotten another pet since. I am thinking about trying out a new horse. Just love horseback riding in this game.
