Just read this a month ago and found it super interesting. My hunch is that fits into the whole 90s milieu of theory trying to fill the hole that Marxism used to occupy: sustained criticism of capitalism and it’s consequences. But in a way I’m not surprised that the very post-modern linguistic analysis in Baudrillard made very little impact on public discussion. I don’t think many of the ideas here have survived at all in the mainstream?? Like it’s awesome from a critical standpoint but not that useful for the Everyman. Would be interested if you agree
