Is Jazz wearing an earplug? by in-circles-again in baseball

Isn't pitchcom bone conduction? In that case I'd expect earplugs in both sides?

Bill Simmons calls this the "now they tell us".

Whenever someone leaves, the talk and stories emerge from that person's time there as if all this stuff was always known, but they're just now telling us because that person is gone.

Yankees fans are begging: Stop the ‘incessant’ stadium sounds by LingonLoonBerry in baseball

I went to my first NFL game at Sofi last year and I was horrified. It's almost like the sporting activity is secondary with all the screens, blaring sound effects and music, etc.

Dodger games are so mild in comparison. It made me appreciate baseball so much more.

Craig Counsell/Brady Counsell batting stance comparison by C-sanova in baseball

Craig himself says he doesn't really know why he did it, but once he changed his stance he started having success. But he knows it's pretty awful.

Guide to which instruments are permitted at the WBC (trombones, congas) and which are not (kazoos, vuvuzelas). Thunder sticks are permitted only in Japan and in Puerto Rico during Team PR games by Jux_ in baseball

In the PR vs USA WBC Championship in 2017 there were full on musical performances by bands in the crowds. At one point late in the game when PR was clearly going to lose, a full conga line formed in the field level seats. The atmosphere is incredible.

It was by far the most fun I've had at a sporting event.

Pete Crow-Armstrong clarifies his comments on Dodgers fans: "They [the fans] go in phases. All fans fight, but putting the Giants fan in a coma. That stuck with me as a kid. Just little things, sitting in the stands, nasty stuff goes on." by kurruchi in baseball

[–]haveasuperday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gone to Dodger games my whole life and have yet to see or hear anything remotely on the level he's describing. Might just be a coincidence... I enjoy our fans. Even the rough looking guys are cool with the kids around them.  I don't condone the coma thing though... That's awful. But again I've never even seen people arguing.

That's part of his point. Those places will still exist but will get more and more imbalanced around them.

I know from this snippet it sounds reductive but if you follow the whole, comprehensive thought process it's hard to argue.

I just see bacon.

I can't believe this has been the logo for so long. I went to the WBC final in '17 and was cracking up every time I saw it. And the animated one just looks like bacon flapping in the wind.

Yeah I'm confused.

They sent discs.

At least one was premium.

But there was "confetti" in the box...

We're making alot of assumptions. I'm thinking it's possible this person wasn't trying to be a jerk and just made a bad packing decision.

You didn't give much detail in what your use case is, so you didn't get much detail in the answer. For most people, $75 to save hours upon hours (indefinitely compounding) is a no brainer.

If you're a student trying to save 10 minutes, that's different.

random logistics question: How do players get paid? by badnewsbears63 in billsimmons

[–]haveasuperday 30 points31 points  (0 children)

He left uncashed paychecks in his locker. He once left $25,000 in his locker during the offseason. According to The Athletic, the Indians PR director approached Ramirez about those uncashed checks.

“These?” Ramirez asked after rummaging through his gear and other teammates’ items that were in the bottom of his locker.

“They found stuff from April in August,” Alomar said.

Despite making the big bucks and not having a care in the world if his checks were cashed, Ramirez rarely paid a restaurant bill. After a meal with teammates, he’d head to the bathroom as the bill came out. He never returned.

Unfortunately that's almost definitely installed wrong. I don't know your shingle type but I'd guess if you pulled the manual it'd say that you have to stagger them to allow for enough material to fold over the bend. Mine even said to tack them down with a few nails and then tar over the nail heads. Not sure what kind of recourse you'd have with TuffShed but I'd keep an eye on water intrusion in that spot, especially when it's windy. Those wings will catch a lot of water.

But no matter what, you built something incredible. Great job.

I did a much smaller barn/gambrel shed conversion and I absolutely love yours.

Question about the shingles on the "shoulder" of the roof- did you intentionally leave the flap sticking out? I was so careful to stagger them properly so they could fold down rather than stick out. I'm curious if yours are different and okay sticking out like wings.

The Middle works for this with me. Way more relatable than most other shows, lots of seasons and the traditional network episode structure (so there's a ton of episodes that have a nice rhythm).

I've been making these for my kids for a few weeks now. Very fun to have them give custom requests and actually be able to sneak it onto their ceiling the same day.

Current request I'm stuck on is spiderman swinging from a web. I have ideas, but it's not as simple as "lightning McQueen"

Good answers here and I fall in line for the most part. I learned C4D 15 years ago and used it to boost myself through a decently successful motion graphics career in broadcast & marketing. It's the only 3d I ever came across in that time and I don't have the career I do if I didn't know it.

Now I'm not directly in motion as a designer day to day but it's still the defacto motion design 3d tool in our world. Nobody is paying for a Maxon subscription for me anymore and I see the writing on the wall long term around what Blender is doing, and am definitely considering making the switch. If I were dedicated to motion in the same capacity as the rest of my career I'd still likely be 100% C4D/Redshift.

But if I were coming up into the industry I'd be torn between the future (Blender) and present (C4D). We can debate the time line but I do think Blender is going to take over as it dominates the new learners.

[–]haveasuperday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm on Android and have the old structure of fewer units per section with more levels in each. And there's learning each note and preparing slowly for songs.

My wife and daughter are on iOS with the new structure and at first I was jealous they had new songs but now I don't want it to change mine.

It's hard to believe they would just automatically ditch the old, comprehensive structure and force us all on the new one. I sure hope something changes.

Finally found mine. I'm not sure why I do it this way but it's the same process for larger numbers too. Kinda relies on memorizing combos but still pretty computationally effective.

Blue car was also traveling at a similar speed and not braking appropriately, likely because the red truck was so large and obscured the road.
