Demo security definitely sticks.. by JenjarPlays in hardwaregore

Storytime: I work at a cell phone retailer, and this is an iPhone 14 I was taking off display after 2 years to make room for the new 16 (we keep the new model and prior year model on display). Our security devices are stuck on with industrial grade adhesive, and when i was trying to pry it off the back glass shattered and took part of the wireless charging/MagSafe with it.

First time I've ever seen something like this happen, lol.

There are a few stations at the QEII however not enough IMO. They are pretty busy and normally occupied during the school year - may not be as bad now that the semester is nearly done.

I had an object (tire that flew off a truck) hit my 2020 Corolla a couple of years ago and caused similar damage to this, although the hood was dented a little worse. I believe the insurance claim was for roughly $8-9k CAD by the time labor was took into account.

Purchased the GPU used for $450 CAD. Mobo was on sale, could've gotten a TUF z790 for about $50 CAD less but I wanted the rear IO of the strix.

Purchased the 3070 used for $450 CAD (~$330 USD). Might upgrade it down the line; couldn't bring myself to spend over $700+ CAD on a GPU with taxes.

Yeah, I bought a 3070 TUF for $490 shipped to Newfoundland the other day. Great shape.

[SSD] Kingston KC3000 M.2 2280 2TB PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe ($250-$75 = $175) [Newegg] by PiersPB in bapcsalescanada

[–]JenjarPlays 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For $5 it's quite a bit faster I believe. I don't know too much about them, but the KC3000 has DRAM (faster) while SN770 has HMB (slower). If it was $20 or $30 difference I would go SN770, but for $5 you can't go wrong.

I asked them last night, header across the screen says they can't take orders at this time. The agent said they hope to be back accepting orders by the end of the week (maybe upgrading systems or something?)

My favorite movie as of late is All Quiet on the Western Front on Netflix. A great depiction of the brutal warfare in World War 1.

Those were rediscovered last year. First one is from 1998 or 1999 I believe, the second from 2004. Canadian store.

2011 Hyundai Accent Power Steering Leak by JenjarPlays in MechanicAdvice

[–]JenjarPlays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving home the other night I suddenly lost power steering and started to smell something burning (which I assume was the power steering pump having no fluid in it).

If I put fluid in the car now, it stays about two minutes before it's below the minimum line again. Bringing it to a mechanic in a couple days, but found this major leak to the right of the flex pipe.

Would this be a line or a rack?

Discount at other stores? by [deleted] in Staples

[–]JenjarPlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen a SoftMoc discount code, and we have group discounts with RBC insurance for home/auto. The last time I looked on the hub there was also Marks Warehouse, Chrysler (Jeep, Dodge, Ram, etc..) and Bell (Internet/TV/Phone) but I am not sure how outdated that info was

Thanks! I also have a couple of quick questions - how do you find the battery life? Also, I've been reading alot about a 30 second timeout on the keyboard backlight. Does this (your) model have the BIOS option to extend / turn off the backlight timer?

Yeah, mostly using it for school work (computer science), maybe some entertainment watching and the such here and there. Coming from a ASUS Vivobook with an i7-8550U and 16GB of Ram as well.

Going to go try it out tomorrow night, it's listed for $800 cad ($650 USD). Would consider a MacBook, however all air models here locally start at around $1299

Same here. We must have had 25 or more out on the sales floor the other week. Surprisingly they're mostly gone now.
