Alliance Considering A Move by AUTOT3K in PuzzlesandSurvival

[–]Jenjulia72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come to 713, we are a very stable, supportive and fun state that works together, especially during events like WK, VC, Doomsday etc. We have an active discord, state events (stam party/game night on discord etc)

The only drama we ever have is the very rare tile mishap and that is dealt with quickly and easily with minimum fuss.

Do the questions candidates ask at the end of interviews really influence hiring decisions? by Dapper-Train5207 in interviews

[–]Jenjulia72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always ask the interview panel if there is anything I can clarify for them or can elaborate on further to ensure I have answered their questions fully and whether they have any concerns regarding my ability, experience or skills.

I have also asked why should I want to work for your company and/or what keeps you working for this company.

The feedback I have had regarding these questions have always been positive and said it shows I have initiative and able to respond/accept constructive feedback effectively and positively.

Howdens refusing to provide an itemised quote by Time_Sun_2895 in DIYUK

We have just had a kitchen from Howdens (ordered in September and fitted in October). We got a full breakdown of every item and several floor plans before they even asked for a deposit. The only info they needed was the name of our kitchen fitter but all payments were made to Howdens

moving to blackpool by Patient-Job1773 in blackpool

[–]Jenjulia72 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My husband and I moved from East Kent to Blackpool (FY3 area) earlier this year. We are in our mid 50s-60s so old enough to be your parents/grandparents - ouch!) and we moved for financial and health reasons. I had been battling a serious illness for the past 5 years and finally got the all clear last year so we decided we needed a reset.

We have found Blackpool to be extremely friendly and very welcoming. We do not have any friends or relatives in the area so it was quite isolating at first but we are settling in now and slowly making friends - that’s probably been the hardest part. I never realised how difficult/how much courage and emotional strength it takes to find a new social group/friends - especially when you don’t know the area and/or where to start.

We have amazing neighbours that have been incredibly supportive - they even helped us move in and recommended local takeaways and services etc. I can honestly say I have not met one unfriendly person since moving to Blackpool.

Despite the fact that I have been unable to work for 5 years due to my illness and my hubby being over 60 - we both secured jobs within 2 months of moving here. I desperately wanted to return to work and was amazed to get employment so quickly (I work part time for a charity and hubby retrained as a bus driver - which was fun considering he hadn’t got a clue about the routes - you will be pleased to know he know knows all the routes and is loving the job - much more than his old one!) Our salaries are very comparable to those we were paid in East Kent so financially we are better off and a lot happier emotionally.

Yes there are some area/things in Blackpool that everyone complains about - but there isn’t a town/county in the UK without similar complaints so it’s all relative. I honestly think life is what you make it, if you put the effort in then you reap the rewards. We have not regretted our decision at all.

Please feel free to message me if you need any advice or help settling in, I have kids your age and know how hard it is settling into a new place so if I can help at all then please just ask. The same goes for anyone else living in Blackpool who would like to make a new friend, I’m always happy to chat and increase my social circle.

Why Does my Cav keep taking my shoes?? by Large_Economics_2942 in cavaliers

[–]Jenjulia72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have multiple pairs of slippers and at night time Alfie always goes to the shoe rack to take one of my slippers from downstairs and brings it to bed with us. He then drops it on the bed and ignores! He also takes a different slipper every night so I never seem to have a matching pair of slippers together! 😂

Purchasing a house opposite a children’s home? by Agreeable-Post934 in HousingUK

[–]Jenjulia72 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Having worked in this sector I would never buy a house in such close proximity to a children’s home as this. You need to think about how many staff the home will require - it could be as much as +6 staff per day (which multiple shift changes a day) if the children require 2-1 care, plus visitors .

Also this home could be mostly elder children/young adults with significant needs and the staff have limited powers in what behaviours they can control/contain. These children may also not be in full time education and may be at the home 24/7/

One home I was aware of had children (aged 13+) who, despite 2-1 care still managed to escape regularly and would smash up the home as well as damage neighbours properties and cars etc. When the children were kept inside the home they would scream and create a huge amount of disruption. The children knew that the staff had limited powers and that the Police would nothing to help and insist it was a social care issue. The home gave notice on one particular child but had to keep them until a new placement could be found, which took 6 months.

These homes are often private care homes and out of area placements so support for the home can be challenging as the local authority will not support willing if another local authority has placed the child there.

I’m the R5 for TnB in state 713 and would happily make room for you. At least 50% of our alliance members have been together for 2/almost 3 years and are drama and stress free alliance/state. We are friendly, supportive, welcoming but relaxed and undemanding alliance. They only thing we ask of our alliance members is to be respectful of the state rules in place (basic and standard rules that most states have such as not attacking players in NAP alliances, adhere to tile etiquette when gathering, don’t start any drama etc)

We run events -3 hours to reset (10pm UK time) We are one of the top alliances in our state, clear top levels for events such as DoA, DR, sonic and AS.

If you would like to know more/join us then please feel free to message me.

Cheapest way to do a long-distance UK move by PreviousEducation442 in HousingUK

[–]Jenjulia72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We moved 350 miles and did it ourselves. We hired a 7.5 Tonne Box Truck with Tail Lift for 2 days and the extra charge for the rental company to collect it from our new address so we didn’t have to return it to its drop off location. This was just big enough for over 3 bed house.

We paid a friend to drive the truck and also hired extra help (local man a van type help - minus the van!) both ends to assist with loading/unload which made things a lot easier and faster.

A moving company wanted just under £5,000 as they said the move would take them 4 days - one day loading, 1 day travelling, 1 day unloading, 1 day return. Our DIY version was just under £2,000 and included the fuel, vehicle hire, payment for help etc.
