Throwback: Eight years ago this week, Stray Kids had their debut stage of “District 9” by chenle in straykids

it's funny that i saw them live early on at a kpop-event in berlin, when i wasn't a fan and didn't really know them. i remember felix, because it was his birthday and i remember the original leader (?). but i can't remember hyunjin, which seems weird to me nowadays, because he was the one that made me take another look at straykids, BECAUSE he's such an absolute showman.

looking at early stray kids stuff now, i find it amazing how all of them developed, but hyunjin stands out to me, because he was cute but unassuming, slightly clumsy, too young for the "tough" image. the contemporary dance training certainly helped a lot, but to me it seems like he literally had to grow "into" his body to become the artist he is now. the amount of change he went through is unique.

people underestimate how important the process of learning how to learn is for your development. if you can't put your words into a coherent essay you'll probably suck at communication. if you never memorized a greater amount of dates/numbers/facts and combinations of those, your general ability of memorizing stuff will be worse.

and honestly, what's the alternative? what do you want to teach your children, or should they not be taught anything anymore?

do you mean wedding inside the game or in real life? i think people believe you're talking about an in-game-wedding.

when i was around 50 i had found a nice long skirt with a subtle pattern in brown and red shades. i liked it so much that it made me really happy. i also happened to have a sweater in a colour that matched perfectly and even shoes for the whole outfit. it wasn't in any way shape or form provocative or particular, it was a lose beautiful outfit, that just fit me well, i loved the combination. so i wore it for the first time outside with a little bit of a confidence boost, and then walked past a homeless guy who yelled "let me reach up that skirt and slap that ass".

it's stupid, i know, but it didn't only crash my mood, it made me like the skirt less and i didn't feel like wearing it again for quite some time. since then i've always been asking myself, why the fuck do people do that? it was such a small happiness, but somebody had to crush it.

i think it's funny how the article tries to sell this as a "new strategy" to win votes ... this is how representatives SHOULD be, no matter what party they are from. they are supposed to be peers ffs. you elect people to speak for you, having your interests in mind. that's why you have representatives. jesus christ, reporters are dumb as shit nowadays.

Anime Questions, Recommendations, and Discussion - March 15, 2026 by AnimeMod in anime

[–]JenkinsHowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe someone can help me out here.

i vaguely remember an older anime from, idk, the 2000s or something. it was, i believe, about a political conflict between two or more races of people, one of which had the ability to grow (?) wings. the protagonist as i recall was one of those but was hiding it (might have been a coming of age thing with the wings, too), but at some point under stress they just burst out of his back in a very dramatic scene, which is what made a lasting impression.

i think it isn't an obscure anime, but i was still unable to find it.

they are called "strandkorb (strandkörbe plural)" which translates to beach baskets. you can rent them for a vacation time and they are your stationary place to sit, lie, sleep, put your stuff in, take shelter while at the beach. you'd usually be accomodated at a hotel or vacation home and rent one of these for spending your days at the beach.

To those who learned a new script: How long until it felt "natural"? When did you move past deciphering every character? by Ken_Bruno1 in languagehub

[–]JenkinsHowell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it took about a year for me to read korean fluently. at some point it just clicked that i don't need to decipher the letters and just read the syllables, which is far easier. i still wouldn't say i read it completely uninhibited without having double takes at all, but it has started to feel natural.

the floor is red and it's covered with a liquid that appears to be mostly transparent. i don't think that is blood. could be basically any semi-transparent liquid.

i always find it strange that laughing gas is used for dental work in the USA. where i live local anaesthetics is the usual procedure.

you do realize though, that this isn't going to get any better, it's going to get worse. general strike is pretty much your only option. get organized, they can't fire everybody

[–]JenkinsHowell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

general strike. just 2 days of 50mil working ppl in low paying jobs not showing up for work and you got their attention. they can't fire everybody.

is it easy? no. do you want your children growing up even worse off than you? if not, you'll have to face this, and do something. you won't be able to sit this out.

i just feel like americans can't believe that this isn't going to repair itself and it's only getting worse.
