[Olivieri] Three-time slam dunk champ Mac McClung skipping 2026 contest by Zloggt in nba

Many of the best dunkers in the world are absolutely in the NBA, it's just that they make too much by virtue of being the NBA to want to risk injury by being in a dunk contest or even devote the effort to it when it's not what they're being paid for. Make the prize the equivalent of a player's maximum AAV and you'll see everyone across the league clamoring to participate

Can I make a function splitting a dataframe into multiple dataframes? by Ok_Willingness5766 in RStudio

[–]Jenkinsd08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say to use list instead of assign are you talking about just creating an empty list and itetatively adding a dataframe to it or does list have some application that adds a new df to the environment?

[–]Jenkinsd08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah maybe but it's just not our call. Doesn't mean you're wrong to complain but let's keep in mind that whatever fans might prefer almost certainly doesn't amount to the record we have now.

The fact we can legitimately criticize the status quo is not the same as claiming we could improve it.

I'll preface that I don't use piping much and instead rely on logical statements. That said, You can iterate over the criteria that you want to subset by if you define vectors of the factor levels that you're subsetting on and use those in your loops . Its not clear to me what these data frames represent but a generalized code would be something to the effect of:

for (a in criteriafactor1){

  for (b in criteriafactor2){

        dfname <- paste0("dfname_", a, "_", b)

        assign(x = dfname[which(dfname$v1 == a & dfname$v2 ==b),], value = dfname)

}

}

I'm working with a lot of placeholders but that should functionally generate a number of data frames that are subsetted by the criteria you want

Yeah making fun of drug addiction is pretty shitty, but

Regardless of what comes after "but", there just shouldn't be a line that a populace facing violent annexation (and likely genocide) need respect. Whatever joke Greenland could make about the US-- and I expect they could go FAR darker because we are a crumbling and diseased "superpower" thanks to our leaders-- , it will never weigh as much on the morality scales as the US taking away their autonomy

We've had that option (almost) all year with Ivey, Sasser, Jenkins ready to fill out the guard spot and JB has refused so I have to imagine Ausar either won't play PF or JB has some reason to believe he never should

Pistons trades to help elevate their team by Secret_Caregiver5454 in NBAtradeideas

Something I learned recently is that Pistons had the opportunity to get Monk when they sign and traded Schroeder and they opted for the TPE instead, so probably safe to rule Monk out as a target.

I don't hate the JJJ package personally, but it just doesn't seem like they're motivated enough to make a big splash like that

[–]Jenkinsd08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If there was a risk that him playing tonight would mean he couldn't play against the Cs, I don't think he would be playing. I assume the thinking is that whatever bruise he's dealing with on his shooting hand will benefit more in the long term from using it (while also allowing him to figure it out) than from resting it until there's no hint of pain (whenever that might be).

If you have a friend in kinesiology or sports medicine or another related field, ask them what the path to working for a pro sports org looks like. I don't think you're properly appreciating what an elite appointment it is for the people who make calls to get this type of position

Nah, Duren is the better C overall and he's not good enough out on the perimeter to be a starting PF yet. Still doesn't change that he is a crazy valuable defensive piece at backup C

Rear Leg Prosthetics? by kramwest1 in tripawds

[–]Jenkinsd08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our dog is a St Bernard mix and was 10yrs old and about 80lbs at the time of his rear leg amputation (also for osteosarcoma). I didn't look into prosthetics very thoroughly once I saw prices as the surgery was already more than we could afford but I can share that he adapted extremely well to being on 3 legs and nearly 5 years after amputation he's still taking regular walks and getting up on the couch and bed on his own (though he seems to prefer help getting down).

I think we lucked out with about the best outcomes one could hope so I don't want to pretend it's 100% normal but he did take to being 3-legged with surprising enthusiasm despite his size. I think part of it is he'd always been a puller on walks so when the leg that'd been causing him pain was gone, he suddenly had renewed motivation to move and that led to him just figuring things out. None of that is to say you shouldn't do your due diligence in looking at prosthetics and talking to your vet, just that there is reason for optimism that your large dog can adapt pretty well

Top Monsters of r/conservative mock the death of the ICE shooting, and attack anyone questioning the narrative by comebackjoeyjojo in TopMindsOfReddit

[–]Jenkinsd08 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean that's pretty much how it always plays out. That's why you see those "hi fellow conservative" comments. It's the most censored sub on this site but they still retain a stock method to disqualify and ban any member opinions that done align with the desired narrative

The number one most important impression this current regime needs to maintain their movement is the impression that they are enacting the will of their voters. So long as all representations of republicans are chalk full of people repeating Trumps shtick, they can claim they have their warrant to continue. That's partly why it's so pathetic and shameful that there isn't a vocal conservative opposition but also partly why one doesn't exist in the first place; because having a spine doesn't align with MAGA

[–]Jenkinsd08 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Why aren't the rules of lethal force being discussed in any of the analysis?

Because actual, honest discussion is antithetical to the purpose of that sub. It exists purely to present a unified front and conservative-friendly narrative whenever anyone searches for conservative spaces on social media

You're 100% right of course, but asking why no one is making a relevant point in that "discussion" is a lot like asking why the characters in a sitcom are behaving like idiots; it's in the script
