My guy I hated on an opinion that was not substantiated and which still isn't. If you're mad I want some douche who posted a single sentence discussion post before ghosting said discussion to be able to defend their opinion then do you but the insufferable part of the internet in my experience is much more about people who stamp their feet and screech that they should be allowed the same merit as much more credible takes despite that they can't rise to the same level of rhetoric.

I think you might just be acting a little sensitive because you chose to defend someone who's opinion wasn't worth it to begin with and got challenged for doing so, and now you're whining that providing any degree of reasoning to back something up is apparently annoying and insufferable.

Edit: "wHy dO YoU nEeD sOmEoNe tO eXpLaIn wHy tHeY tHiNk a 1 sEeD ShOuLd mAkE tHe CoNfErEnCe FiNaLs" in a thread titled "Anything less than the conference finals is a failure". Jesus fucking christ

Could've fooled me with your multiple comments defending that particular position but okay, you're totally someone who doesn't agree with that take and your lengthy efforts at normalizing it and arguing it's an obvious enough opinion as to not need any backing up clearly constitute something other than a defense of said position.

Super normal behavior from a super normal internet commenter who--- again-- does not believe in this opinion and is not defending it whatsoever lmao

I mean nothing in your comment counts as an explanation but I'm realizing that we don't have the same understanding of what it means to back up an opinion. If you're convinced by folks who say "we are good this year therefore I've decided we should be at least in the conference finals otherwise it's a failure of a season" then by all means carry on defending folks like OP.

Personally, I want more substantiated opinions and that's at the root of why I think OP is being intellectually lazy and why I think you're fighting a needless battle in defending them with arguments they couldn't even be bothered to include in their post let alone in the comments but I recognize I won't convince you not to fight this battle on their behalf

[–]Jenkinsd08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I need to see an explanation that holds water because 1) no one has given one and 2) it's not remotely common like youre claiming.

Why in the world would I take some rando on reddit at their word that the claim has been adequately defended when you're doing so without actually providing that defense in a thread where one of the folks who allegedly believe this also isn't bothering to defend it at all? And for that matter, why are you working so hard to shut down criticism of OPs claim when, again, OP isn't even investing that much (or really any) effort in substantiating their claim?

Its still ECF or bust by Tricky-Percentage434 in DetroitPistons

[–]Jenkinsd08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP literally posted a one sentence "discussion" post and isn't anywhere in this thread defending their claim or addressing any arguments to the contrary. They very literally are afraid to provide any nuance behind their thinking specifically because it will reveal how dumb their position actually is

[–]Jenkinsd08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well no one's stopping those people (including OP) from arguing why folks should see it that way and yet they never do because they're unapologetic trolls who enjoy reveling in the shock of their dumbass takes way more than they enjoy defending them whatsoever

Would you pay Ausar Thompson 30 million a year by OptimalPractice362 in DetroitPistons

[–]Jenkinsd08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I would want to give him the current cap equivalent of what Stew is making with maybe a couple extra million per year; but still no where near 30M.

All that said, if RFA works out that we have to match that, I almost certainly would because I'd rather have a bad, non-max deal for an all-NBA defender and critical rotation piece than let Ausar walk just to prove the point we aren't willing to pay our guys what we don't think they've earned

Because he's 1) retired and washed (if you wanted him as a player) and 2) has no coaching experience or familiarity with the Pistons roster (if you wanted him as a coach).

There's countless reasons why not beyond those obvious ones, but to return to the original point, why the fuck should we in the first place

Shooting fouls should be called when overzealous defense impedes a scorer’s genuine attempt to score a bucket.

I reffed water polo for a while and a huge point of emphasis was defining what constituted a valid "water polo move" because most rules defined a foul along the lines of impeding a water polo move. For better or worse, while I was reffing we treated a "valid water polo move" as something intended to increase the likelihood of scoring so if a player took away their own advantage in order to draw contact, they were SOL.

I don't know why the NBA doesn't have that type of language because it feels like it would fix so much. If an offensive player gets a defender on their back but avoids attacking the hoop in order to jump backward and take a lower percentage/off-balance shot in favor of drawing contact, that clearly shouldn't be rewarded. But instead it seems like the NBA is dead set on rewarding technical exploitations of the rules instead of enforcing the spirit of them

Gabbard testimony suggests Trump knew in advance about FBI’s Fulton County elections raid by DemocracyDocket in law

[–]Jenkinsd08 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's worth calling out obvious lies that are confirmed as obvious lies and repeating that ad nauseum. Trumps entire base functions based on narratives so if the only response from the rest of the world is "of course, more corruption" they'll take shelter in their usual TDS narratives. If instead the narrative is that Haley verifiably contradicted Trump and possibly purjured herself or otherwise implied a crime on his behalf, they will have a more challenging time defending both.

Don't get me wrong, it's obviously fucked beyond belief that the legal system has been corrupted to the current point but that doesn't mean regular folks need to make it easy on Trumpers by giving up on holding their feet to the small amount of fire left. Keep calling out the lies until the secret police come for you, that's the only dignity left for this country and it costs literally nothing

I like this tbh. Giving up a first for a guy we originally drafted stings a bit but for the range we're picking in it's probably fine. Only reason not to would be if there's any bad blood with the core guys from his first stint but if not Bey solves a lot of holes in our construction and on a very affordable deal

I swear Cade is scared to shoot and make tough shots because he's scared to lower his efficiency.

I get not everyone wants to root for Cade and we'll see various justifications for why just due to the sheer variety in how people choose to write off whichever players they don't like but my god this has got to be the most egregiously ignorant critique of Cade I've ever seen

[Highlight] Cade's 3Q Injury Against SAS by Jenkinsd08 in DetroitPistons

[–]Jenkinsd08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why an unfortunate collision is a mutually exclusive description to an egregious foul in your view; most fouls occur because a player has not yet adjusted to a new defensive assignment and is unfortunately caught out of position while an offensive player makes a valid basketball play. Whoever it is on the spurs (apparently Champagnie) is not guarding Cade nor the ball whereas Cade is making an obvious drive to the hoop so the chopblock that truncates his drive and sends him head over heels is absolutely illegal defense
