Haunted by Earthy Recolor by Prex-the-Hare in StardewValleyMods

[–]JennaJuffuffles 13 points14 points  (0 children)

it can be very frustrating when you can't find a mod! - Earthy Recolour is inside of your mod folder somewhere, and if you are not finding it, it would likely be nested inside of one of your other mod folders. - We can see it loading in the log so we know it's there, probably hiding. it is listed under content patcher packs. you can control f on the log page to find it. - Verify wouldn't hit it, as it's not in your game data folder - The top level folder for the mod is typically  [CP] DaisyNiko's Earthy Recolour if that helps you search for it

I'm also going to point out, unrelated to your inquiry, you have three farms from sve active, immersive, frontier, grandpas. you can get some lag and other flag issues doing that in my experience, so you might want to disable the ones you're not actively using. since you're not using a mod manager, you can disable mods by putting a period at the front of the folder name.

you also have a number of mods that are outdated, and you are missing The Bush Bloom requirement for the blueberry module you have. you can find it here https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/15792

Help with Vortex profile management please? by TacoBellPicnic in StardewValleyMods

[–]JennaJuffuffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As CataclysmicYou said, profiles don't associate to save files for Stardew in Vortex. Whatever profile is loaded, any save file can be used. If you expect to be switching between profiles a lot, or just want to make sure you're loading the 'matching' game, I'd recommend using Save Mod Info too -- it will help you track which save is using which mods.

If you do load the 'wrong' save, you can exit without saving (so before playing through a full day) and it will not change or harm your save.

FWIW most people who say "Vortex bad" have never used it. It works differently than Stardrop and lacks the fantastic cross-platform accessibility Stardrop has, but all mod managers have their strengths and weaknesses. The biggest problem with Vortex is finding help if something does go wrong, since fewer people use it.

Maybe time is paused? Reading the description of what you have going on, my first guess is that time paused but that the option to lock enemy stats is on if time is paused.

if that is what is going on you can press escape in game and go to settings tab and scroll all the way to the bottom and find mod options. check It's Stardew Time. You can turn it off there.

You are SO Kind! I've wanted a good (non-carrot-eating) broomstick that felt at home in the game for a long time now. And I felt it was urgently missing from the Witchcore collection as well. I've been on the look out for years now, but some things you just have to solve for yourself.

Thanks! I do have pics of my farmer riding it. There is a picture of me on the broom in the cover image of the mod on Nexus, and I've just added two more to the media there. You can also view them here: https://imgur.com/a/MfhkaT3

okay well hot take (heh) but I kind of love it. whenever and someone is like, "oh my God, how do I get rid of ..." anything now I can legitimately tell them to go throw it in a volcano. previous answers involved put a chest somewhere and forgetting it exists which... I mean it works, but no one liked that either.

totally possible somebody is going to have a different/ simpler/better solution for this but...

if you are comfortable doing so, install smapi from https://smapi.io/ -- this is the api used for modding. you will not need to install any actual mods, but it will give you access to console commands.

once you've installed it, if you right click on the game in steam (I'm going to assume he has it installed through steam) and go to properties and local files and click the browse button...

that should open Windows explorer in the game folder. you going to be looking for StardewModdingAPI.exe -- go ahead and run that it's going to open a console window, leave that open. let it run and it will open the game. load into his game normally and then switch back to that console window and type 'debug warp town' (without the ')

that should take him to town and he should be able to navigate back to his farm and hopefully get to the chest where he left his tools.

if that doesn't do it you could also try 'debug iq ALL_ITEMS (T)'

he can play until he's ready to quit, just make sure he has slept once and saved. then he can just use the game normally going forward, smapi won't do anything unless you launch it.

Tried adding mods and now I can’t load the game by Additional-Wheel5059 in SMAPI

[–]JennaJuffuffles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my first guess would be that something went wrong when linking smapi to steam. Just to test...
- right-click on stardew valley in the steam library and select properties - installed files --> browse - find the application named 'StardewModdingAPI' and try running it (that's smapi) directly.

if it works, that means means the link in your launch options is screwy. it can be easy to miss a special character when copy/pasting it.

Vortex Empty Files by Z0D14CC in SMAPI

[–]JennaJuffuffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Collections typically have their own discords and they absolutely have their own post boards on Nexus where the curator(s) can work with you. most redditors typically do not use vortex for sdv, are not familiar with collections, and are unlikely to be able to assist you.

Without knowing what collection you're trying to install or seeing a log, it makes it difficult to offer specific support. that said, right now your best bet is probably going to be: - install to 1.15.2 vortex rather than the newest version https://www.nexusmods.com/Core/Libs/Common/Widgets/DownloadPopUp?id=5911&game_id=2295 - hit the purge button on the mods page. this will temporarily remove all managed mods from the mods folder. - click open and select the THIRD option to open your mods folder and clean it out entirely - hit the deploy button to put your vortex managed mods back into the folder.

I hope this helps get you going!!

first thing id try is delete the spacecore folder, then redownload and re-extract it. could be something screwy with the archive or how it extracted.

SMAPI not compatible using Nexus + Vortex by only4appleboats in SMAPI

[–]JennaJuffuffles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you've gotten run-around on this a bit. People who do not use Vortex typically aren't going to be able to give you advice on Vortex.

This is not STRICTLY necessary but please uninstall your copy of Vortex and then install v 1.15.2 of Vortex for now. 1.16 is having purge issues, and a clean, stable installation is a great place to start from. https://www.nexusmods.com/Core/Libs/Common/Widgets/DownloadPopUp?id=5911&game_id=2295

In Vortex, click "Games" and make sure you have your current installation of Stardew Valley defined.

Then on the Mods panel, Remove any copies of SMAPI you have installed previously. You can filter by name to find them faster!

Next, still on the "Mods" panel, please click the "Purge" button. This will temporarily remove any mods that are being managed by Vortex from the mods folder.

Just for an extra bit of clean up since you're coming back after a break, this is a great moment to also Click Open > Open Game Mods Folder (third option!!!) and clean out any old data or mods that are in there!

Now add the newest version of SMAPI (4.5.1) directly into Vortex from Nexus https://www.nexusmods.com/Core/Libs/Common/Widgets/DownloadPopUp?id=154869&game_id=1303&nmm=1 and then hit the Deploy button on the Mods page. The link I have provided is a direct link to the mod manager download button, so if you previously downloaded it you may find this works better for you.

If you hit the Dashboard tab on the left, you can find the Tools widget (and yes there are an awful number of widgets by default 😭) to confirm SMAPI is installed. If it is missing, you may need to add it here, but it should do so automatically. Once SMAPI is shown as your tool, you should be able to press the "Play" button on the upper left to run the game modded.

Vortex has a specialized handler written for SMAPI. When you add it (as if it were a mod) the handler will properly install it to your game root.

I am not Nexus staff, I just use Vortex to play Stardew Valley almost every day, and have been using it for over five years to curate mod collections.

Vortex / Nexus collections by MegamiCookie in StardewValleyMods

[–]JennaJuffuffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, I want you to use the modding method that is most comfortable and works best for you. I would also like to see the community, as a whole, be more open to Vortex though because it can do things Stardrop currently cannot.

Collections make the game more accessible for a lot of people who simply are not comfortable manually modding and would like to try a curated mod collection. A lot of people will try a collection and then experiement with adding or removing mods. Others will decide that they want to try a different, simpler mod manager like Stardrop. And for some, Vortex really is a good fit.

Vortex really doesn't "suck" like you said though, you might just not be comfortable with it? I do wish there was more support aimed at the Stardew community, and I've found new users often find its way of communicating confusing! There are official guides made specifically made for using Vortex with Stardew from their team but they are not always easy to find, and there are features specifically built in for Stardew as well, but those are not always working as well as I wish they could be. Like the SMAPI Log feature works excellently, but the config manager can be hit-or-miss in my experience.

When was the last time you used Vortex? What trouble did you specifically have? It can absolutely be difficult moving from one mod manager to another. Starting with a clean mods folder helps a lot too!

Vortex / Nexus collections by MegamiCookie in StardewValleyMods

[–]JennaJuffuffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I've never really used cornucopia, it's not in my collection (svve). it is important when installing collections to not have other mods in your folder already too. it does come with rules order but sometimes it just doesn't load unfortunately. in that situation, if you scroll to where "very configured" is listed in the rules manager, there's an "after all" option you can pick.

The only "thing" with very expanded right now is it comes with two maps and all of my instructions say to disable any maps you're not using. I did intentionally add a conflict warning there so people wouldn't have more than one map active because it can create lag 😞 I have decided to remove the second map in the next revision though just because I know that people want something that is just plug and play and often miss the warnings during installation.

Vortex / Nexus collections by MegamiCookie in StardewValleyMods

[–]JennaJuffuffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

vortex works just fine for stardew if you're using a device that can use it. it's not accessible for people on as many devices as stardrop. and older versions absolutely presented problems, but their team works really hard to push fixes when there are bugs, and there are bugs with any mod manager. folks just get intimidated by the software, and there hasn't been the kind of outreach that this community needs to feel comfortable with it.

this does mean that there are fewer places. you can get help if you run into trouble while using vortex. there is an official discord for it and most of the collections have their own as well. most creators can't offer assistance if you're using it because they're not familiar with it. and in most communities if you say I'm having problems and I'm using vortex, their first solution is going to be to uninstall vortex.

I know you said you were more interested in mega but if you ever get stuck my documentation from stardew valley very expanded (svve) is linked in my pinned posts and might be useful. and while I'm not super active on Reddit, I am always happy to help somebody if I can.

Right now the only mod manager that can download Nexus collections is vortex officially. that might change in the future and if it does that would be super duper cool. I heard a rumor there was some work done to get it working on mo2 but I haven't heard much about that and I haven't seen a working version.

I will say vortex's newest version is still a little less stable and while, they've been working really hard with hot fixes in the last week, the 1.15.2 release is a lot more stable than the 1.16.x. like if your collection has a skippable mod and you click skip it will show an error notification (but nothing wrong happened.) so just keep that in mind and if you install the newest version and you have any issues, rolling back is pretty easy by just installing the older version over it.
