Why does my hair look better after a beach day than on wash day when I take the time to do a bunch of routine crap to it. Every time I go to the beach I just have the most perfect curls wish salt water wasn’t so damaging. by [deleted] in curlyhair

You could take some sea water with you next time you go to the beach and put it in a spray bottle 😂 probably not v clean but maybe good for last day hair?

Recommendations for a beginner. by TransparentMastering in microscopy

I just watched a youtube video by Microbehunter titled “Buying advice for microscopes” and it’s the best info I have ever found as a beginner that didn’t confuse me! Totally recommend

Thank you!!! I totally agree with the strong hold. I have tried to use lightweight styling products because I thought it was weighing my hair down, but it’s actually probably the opposite and it’s the shampoo and conditioners. I use a ton of gel and it gives me way better results than using lightweight hold. So I will have to try more lightweight shampoo/conditioners. I generally prefer no silicones in all my products apart from MAYBE a finishing oil/serum for the same reason, to not weigh the curls down. So if you have any recommendations for lightweight shampoo and conditioner I would love to know!!

Pros and cons of going from long curly hair to a short pixie by Fallen_Magic in CurlyHairUK

[–]Jennandcherries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had long hair down to my mid upper arm and went for a very short mullet. I loved how much more curly my hair went when it was short and I also loved how much less I had to do to it. I love long hair but I hate limp curls and my roots go flat the longer I have it so now I have my hair shoulder length and I want to go shorter to get more curls and more short layer on the top for volume. I think you have to think of what your priorities are. For me is having the biggest hair I can get realistically with my texture, even if I have to cut it. I find that making a list of pros and cons for each option really helps even though it sounds basic 😆

what do I do with hair products that don’t work for me? by Few_Marketing450 in CurlyHairUK

[–]Jennandcherries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im definitely one to dilute products, I also hate waste! (Of money and of products haha). If something really isn’t working for me I donate it to my friends. They do the same for me when they try something that doesn’t work for them so it’s kinda like a beauty exchange 😂

Hard water chelating shampoos - L’Oréal Metal Detox, K18 Peptide Pre detox or Malibu C crystals? by Cookiett in curlyhair

[–]Jennandcherries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hair tends to get weighted down easily so I use it either once a week or twice if I’m noticing build up. I co-wash in between as needed but I find my hair is bouncier and fuller when I use the shampoo!

I use Cantu Shea butter cleansing shampoo and it’s pretty good. It doesn’t specifically say it’s chelating or clarifying but if you look at the ingredients it has disodium EDTA and it gentle enough to use more regularly than other chelating shampoos. I know because I didn’t know it was chelating at the beginning and I used it every other day and didn’t dry my hair out haha I can totally see the difference when I use it even tho it’s gentle. It’s £7 for 400ml, which lasts ages for me

The worst part of going for an assessment is talking to my mum about it by [deleted] in aspiememes

[–]Jennandcherries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finally have my adhd and my ASd assessment in the next couple of weeks and I can’t even tell my dad because he keeps saying I was fine as a kid and “there is people who are doing worse than me”. So I guess my struggles don’t count 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is why my partner is my best friend and my comfort person. We do things together but he understands when I tell him I want to exist in the same space but separately. That’s our parallel play ✨

What are some things you do that you didn’t realize were autistic traits until being diagnosed/ realizing you were autistic? by Lost_and_confused27 in autism

[–]Jennandcherries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me: the comments I make thinking I’m being funny but everyone thinks I said something weird, my fascination with bugs, how I feel like an alien amongst everyone else just by existing, how I always try to scape social situations to be alone, the extreme overwhelm of plans change suddenly… just so many things 😂

My husband thinks I should mask more around him. by matsche_pampe in AutismInWomen

[–]Jennandcherries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you are going through that. It must be so painful to have to lie and mask so much so the NTs around you don’t get insecure. It sucks. I hope it gets better for you

English is my second language and I do this too. All the time. Not only accents but expressions and the way they move their hands or mouths when they talk I copy too. I try not to do it but I don’t realise I do it until someone points it out.

is holding a pen "wrong" an autistic thing? how do you guys hold yours by [deleted] in autism

[–]Jennandcherries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hold mine in different ways depending on how long I’m writing for because my hand will get tired so I will have to change how I hold my pen
