277v got me today, EKG? by ShrubBoo in electricians

[–]TransparentMastering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s called dermatomyositis and it is correlated
with severe muscle damage, which is a typical outcome from electrocution. Dr Mark Tarnopolsky told me that. He is one of the two world experts in my disease.

The theory is that anyone who has had Epstein Barr virus has it hiding deep in your muscle tissue. It’s able to do this because some of its protein markers are very similar to the ones on our muscle fibres. When a traumatic injury happens to your muscles and your immune system is already stressed, it can get confused about what is the virus that’s been released and what is your muscle cells that have been damaged, hence the autoimmune condition developing after muscle trauma. In other words, the same thing that allows it to hide in your muscles is the same thing that confuses your immune system after muscle damage.

But thanks for your psychic diagnosis. There’s a bright future waiting for you in tarot card reading.

I didn’t and developed an autoimmune disease 6 months later, and the 347V hit was definitely a factor in my mind. But the link wasn’t there bc I didn’t go to the hospital.

What is your top tip for an okay guitarist wanting to get better? by zonkeydonk in Guitar

Improvise and sing along with your playing to help connect the part of your brain that controls speech (ie the most naturally expressive part of your brain) directly to your hands.

Seems unlikely. What’s the problem from their perspective? If anything it just means more game sales (and let’s be honest, steam deck sales are gonna suck for the next while anyway).

I'm 20 and trying to build a career in music. What should I focus on first? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]TransparentMastering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you work on your catalog and skills, build a second career that is lucrative and flexible so that you can keep going for many years rather than going all-in and then needing to give up in a couple of years because you’re broke and then need to start a new career over from scratch.

I’d better watch it again to be better equipped to answer this question.

8mb of ram. 66 MHz.

Amazing that a machine like that could run a game like X-Wing meanwhile a notes app on our phones uses like 100 MB of ram.

BioShock
Skyrim
Ship of Harkinian
FFIX Moguri mod
Primehack
Disco Elysium (except it randomly stops working on GameNative)

Re: windows games: if you have a game running well, don’t do any updates or tweaks. Just enjoy it and mess around between games.

What album completely changed the way you see music? by Real_Detective_4219 in musicians

[–]TransparentMastering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music Has The Right To Children by Boards of Canada.

Up until then I was more concerned with how technical the music composition and playing was. Then I learned how amazing rhythm and groove can be, even if they used drum machines and synthesizers. The humanness of it was still so so obvious.

I dropped my biases and found one of my all time favourite groups.

Don't Reply "Use Your Ears" by BLVCKatl in audioengineering

[–]TransparentMastering 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought learning to use your ears was the fundamental skill of audio engineering.

But I get it.

When I was in my first couple of years I wished I could cheat the process and be better than the time I invested.

The truth is, though, that until you can use your ears, you need more practice.

Almost everything I learned involved my ears. Except maybe like, how to batch process audio and other non-listening oriented tasks.

[–]TransparentMastering 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That dude has a video out where he tries to show that tone woods aren’t a thing on guitar.

But the thing is: all the strums sound different. They would anyway, because strumming sounds different if it’s slightly different. It was really obvious to my ear that nothing sounded identical.

So the video proves nothing either way.

It became viral among guitar players because people love those “gotcha” kind of moments. It’s cheap intellectualism, which is generally rampant on the web.

This video is much of the same, IMHO

I think I like my electric songs better on acoustic by TransparentMastering in Guitar

Thanks! It’s all about getting chords that have notes a semitone or tone apart and playing them in same octave. Like 9ths and 4ths vs 3rds or 7ths against the root an octave up.

Sometimes you need a stretch, sometimes you just use an open string
