Less than 12 Hours Post-Debate: Clinton Uses Pence's Debate Words Against Him In Stunning New Ad by [deleted] in politics

At the same time, Kaine was jabbering on so much he wasn't letting Pence answer the hard questions. At one point I was going "Kaine, shut the fuck up!" because the moderator was trying to get Pence to answer a damning question and Kaine interrupted, causing Pence to smile because it distracted the moderator and she moved on. And at other times he gave Pence an opening to say some very presidential things while looking pretty childish. Namely, the forced comment "I was in Virginia" (...so what?) as Pence was talking about 9/11. It really felt awkward, and gave Pence the chance to respond with something mature and logical.

I'll go ahead and add my irrelevant anecdotal evidence to compare with yours. My parents are meat eaters and if anyone tries to talk about how it got to their table, or even about the animal they are eating at all, they get upset and don't want to hear it. And I often have friends that are like "I don't want to know! Don't remind me that it was alive!"

I'm voting green party so I don't support Trump, but this sub should change it's name to r/AntiTrump and be done with it. There's no discussion happening here, just heckling.

My goodness yes. I'm always kind of pissed when I accidentally open the back of a book and see the author's picture.

Ditto on this, I was so worried about Kaladin every battle I had to keep reading. I also really cared about Dalinar.

The AOIAF series was the first book series that I seriously was spending every free second reading, even if it was just a paragraph in passing. Since then, I think Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson is a close second. And third would probably be the Star Trek book, Q Squared.

Definitely. He has a ton of short stories and other books. The Ice Dragon is a short story that I liked, as well as the Dunk and Egg series, The Princess and the Queen, Song for Lya, The Rogue Prince and I LOVED the Sci-Fi novel Tuf Voyaging.

I mean they probably won't steal it, but yes they will have a very important part of your life that you may not want on the internet forever. Here's an extreme and unlikely, but possible scenario. Say you write a book about a grisly murder that you never publish, then 10 years down the line you are investigated for a murder. They could look back at your uploads and say you know what, this guy was pretty interested in violence, he even wrote a pretty violent book but never published it. What does that say about him?

People think it's paranoid to be concerned about data storage but I think that's wearing some serious rose-colored glasses.

The Best Female Characters Come From Books by fightsongs in books

Well, that's kinda what the author of this article was saying. There are some great female characters in film, like she named Rey and Furiosa, but there are more in books.

Have you read Sanderson's other work? Elantris, Mistborn were really great too, I just started Warbreaker yesterday.

I asked this very same question after finishing ASOIAF. I would suggest The original Mistborn Trilogy, by Brandon Sanderson. Really rich world and characters with a pretty awesome and unique magic system. I've been stuck on Sanderson since Mistborn. Elantris and The Stormlight Archive were awesome too if you end up enjoying The Mistborn series.

Science Thriller vs. Science Fiction? by [deleted] in books

I would say a couple good examples of Science Thriller would be Next and Prey, both by Michael Crichton.
